    This show is terrible. Larry's lazy, half-hearted, sometimes almost-monotone delivery; his inability to say anything original or even moderately funny. Very awkward to watch. I really wanted to like the show, but I didn't laugh even once.

    The writers objective : shove our liberal agenda down the throat of america for 30 minutes and try to make a couple jokes . The best example is when they have the Keep It 100 segment of the show . It all left winged pundits . They never argue or disagree . A good 3 minutes of the segment is the pundit going I'm (ethnic minority) and white people are horrible.     I tried to watch this, but can't, it's to awful. The show is not nearly as funny as Colbert was. With Stewart now leaving, Comedy Central is in big trouble.

    I was really looking forward to this show when Colbert left... I thought it would be smart and funny and entertaining. Everybody said the same thing from the first episode its a "Real Time with Bill Mahr" Show except its half an hour and its Larry Wilmore... And I think comedy central is making the same mistake with the successor of Jon Stewart on The Daily show... Very sad days to come...

    Boring Boring Boring. Some are meant to lead...some to come on and do a 2 minute spot. Larry...this is not your first best destiny. Quit before Comedy Central cancels you so you save some dignity.

    I actually created an account just for this show... Larry Wilmore isn't funny and the constant "I am black" rhetoric is garbage. I wouldn't mind it if it was funny, but he isn't. PLEASE CC bring back Dave Chappelle. I am white, and in my 20s, and I don't mind the overt racism, however it has to at least be funny. This show is crap, and I miss the Colbert Report.     God I hope they cancel The Nightly Show, even the commercials feel like it has been a waste of my life.

    I want to like this show because I liked Larry on the Daily show. However, I am losing interest and hope after each episode. The discussion around the table has devolved to inane topics such as how to define the term "slut." The Keeping it 100 segment routinely utilizes idiotic questions such as "if you are a Canadian lesbian sniper, which would you rather shoot: a lesbian or aI want to like this show because I liked Larry on the Daily show.     this show is downright awful. Larry is not even moderately funny, and when he makes a "joke", he himself the only one who laughs at it. He even knows he has nothing good to say so every show he just brings on like 5 guests to kill time. Usually, most of the guests are black and they all just drone on about race inequality.     I had hopes this would be good, but it is an awful show. This show does not compare to the Colbert report. . I am not sure it will last well i hope it doesn't so something else will be presented.

The format is ridiculous - I really do not care for a bunch of unfunny people making bad points on a condensed panel, the monologue in the beginning is a bit dry and it lacks imagination, and the show clearly decided on an awkward identityI wanted to like this, as I'm a big fan of Jon Stewart and thought I'd love everything that followed in his wake, but this just is not up to the task.     I want to give this a 7.5, but seeing as it won't let me, 8 will do. while this show does not live up to the giant hole left by The Colbert Report, it is a MORE than serviceable replacement. Stephen Colbert is someone who is extremely hard to follow, give this show a break. I went to a taping recently and they are trying to improve the show every single day. Just like Real Time, his show would also work much better when completely unshackled from the constraints of time and commercial breaks. Some of the moments during the panel discussions are pure gold, but would be made better if they were allowed to continue. You can see this working out on Maher. When the panelists are not tied down by having to speak in sound bites, they show a lot more of their true nature, which leads into a more in depth discussion which is very fulfilling to the viewers. You can see this type of format working out in Podcasts. When interviewees are given virtually unlimited time to speak the discussions are a pleasure to listen to.

    One of the examples where this time constraint was a hinderance is the episode in which one of the panelists was a woman who has signed up for a suicide mission to Mars. She knows that she'll not survive past a few month on the planet, but is still willing to leave her family for this cause. I think this show would have worked much better if there was time to really get into her psyche. There would be a lot more of a potential to reveal something interesting about human nature.

    Larry Willmore has a very unique brand of humor, and should create a show that is just as unique both in name and in format. He should also try to move his show to Showtime as a worthy counterpart to Bill Maher.    … Expand

    This show is absolutely horrible.

    The first few shows were only mildly bad. They definitely were never good, but they have got progressively worse over time as it's just the same exact thing over and over with him. It all seems very forced. He's not just "light skinned" he's mixed race and hardly looks black, he has children that are so light you can't tell they have any black in them. He just has too much white in him to be believable as an angry oppressed black man. I'm fine with racial shows and issues, he's just not believable at all in that role, not even a little bit.

    While I was able to watch him for some time - each and every show he grates on me a little more and gets more annoying. He even makes these little annoying "mmmmhhh" noises quite often that get more annoying as the shows go on. It's become like when you're dating someone (or married to) that chews with their mouth open and it just irks you more and more as you keep trying to deal with it day after day.

    The "Panel" is crazy short, it's so short that they barely have time for each person to say a few words. Not only that but they usually have Larry, three people that agree with Larry, and one person from the opposite side. That's not a very balanced panel. Usually even the person from the other side is trying to be funny (and failing at it) so it's somewhat pointless anyway.

    Pretty much every part of the show feels rushed as they try to fit in all the different parts of it. It's like a confused show that doesn't quite know what it's trying to be - or a show that should be two hours or so long and is trying to fit all that into 22 minutes.

    "Keeping it 100" is just foolish. The audience doesn't even follow the rules, they clap for the answer they like no matter if it's true or not (it's supposed to be about being honest). Larry gives out Tea or a Sticker just about randomly instead of based on if they're telling the truth. When he goes to take the quiz himself, he almost never gives an honest answer, but nobody is there at the end to call him on it. He claims that he's getting a question that he has to answer, but he just skips answering or gives some cop out answer.

    He isn't a natural at all. He seemed *slightly* okay at first, but the more you watch him the less likable he becomes. The show is an abysmal failure, I can't even stand to watch it any more. I did try to give it a chance, I watched 33 episodes before giving up, but the show is on a downward slope and just repeats itself too much.

    It's not just boring, it's boring and also gets annoying after a while.

    I understand people have different tastes, but I don't understand how anybody can watch this show and enjoy it. It's incredibly fake, forced, and awkward.    … Expand

    I like Larry Wilmore - he seems like a great guy, is witty and likeable but the show is getting to me. Every episode seems to be about race which is getting old. I realize it is a huge problem but when he spends half the show lambasting Starbucks for even trying to start a conversation it wasn't funny (c'mon at least give them some credit for trying - damned if you do, damned if youI like Larry Wilmore - he seems like a great guy, is witty and likeable but the show is getting to me.     I watched one of his shows and was baffled. I'm not sure if people are capable of realizing it because he is black himself but this is another racist show on comedy central. Racist like Key and Peel but not funny like Key and Peel. Zero.

    I wanted to like this show and keep on tuning in in hopes it turns around, but the show is simply not funny and does not work on multiple levels. The show has fundamental issues (Larry makes a poor host for one) and I dont see it lasting too long.

    Not sure what people were expecting. Yes the format is different from Colbert, but give the guy a break, I think a lot of the people who gave this show 1-3 are just plain racists. I like the kinds of topics that he explores and I like the panels. In terms of how funny he is I give him a 7 or an 8, I like to think of his program more as funny news show than the other way around.

    I DVR so as to not miss a single show. After week one I wondered if he could carry it on, but Wilmore has remarkable knowledge and timing. Part of the format is like Maher but it suits me better because there is more respect for alternative perspectives; truth speaks for itself.

And their selection of guests varies from on-point to terrible. The comedians rarely bring much of anything; it's often a few genuine experts throwing out one intelligent talking point before being drowned out by weak attempts at parody. The show still hasn't decided what its tone is and what the purpose of the panel is and how to transition between news and comedy. They're clearly trying to do what Bill Maher has done quite successfully: take genuine political commentary and make it entertaining. But they've not even close to his level, not on their best day. The "keep it 100" questions exemplify this failure; it's a fun idea, but often the questions are so out there and slanted that nothing genuinely interesting or genuinely funny is being asked. The better shows have been when they spend the whole running time on the panel, make the panel full of smart people, and Larry breaks up the news debate with a comedic barb now and then.

    The other, perhaps more fixable issue, is that the supporting cast around Wilmore is terrible. Ricky Velez comes off less as a parodic representative of slacker culture and more as a genuine slacker. Shenaz Treasury was downright embarrassing the few times she was featured; trying way too hard to be funny and not remotely succeeding. The only one who has been even remotely successful is Mike Yard, who occasionally says something good but is still kind of lethargic. None of them would ever pass muster as correspondents on The Daily Show. Even Wilmore's monologues are mixed. It's a shame in that this late night/comedy news forum so desperately needs diverse voices, but they haven't been that successful thusfar. Most of the best quotes have been from guests.

    And it's great that someone's talking about racism, but their take on it is so unsubtle as to be disingenuous and slanted, and they've failed in their attempts to take on other forms of prejudice and inequality. It's easy, for example, to comedically rip holes in radical feminist bigotry, or in business sector overreach, educational dogma, religious zealotry, or to respectfully and responsibly make fun of the military. But they've utterly failed when presented with opportunities to do all above. Despite their supposedly anti-establishment perspective, they're remarkably concerned with political correctness and limited in their viewpoints. The promise was that it wasn't just a show about race, but so far, that's the only thing they've been very successful at leveraging.

    It's kind of a frustrating show because the topics are so good and the promise of an off-beat take or "minority report" (as the show was originally titled) is appealing. And, of course, many of Larry Wilmore's Daily Show appearances were hilarious and even without his foil and on his own, he still can be. But so far, they've had a few good shows that were genuinely funny and interesting and a lot that were neither.    … Expand

    I really enjoy this show. He brings in a lot of diverse perspectives on controversial topics, and the result is something fun, easy to watch, and thought-provoking. He'll need a little time to work some of the kinks out, and I can help but wish the panel discussions were allotted more time.

It has some major kinks: primarily that the panel is too large for a 5-10 minute discussion (I actually liked those weeks on Real Time when Maher only had 2 panelist guests, and his panel had around a half-hour to fill). The Keep It 100 segment occasionally provides some good laughs, but is more miss than hit with a lot of really stupid questions and an audience that doesn't know if it's booing a dishonest answer or an honest answer they don't like. Fortunately, Keep it 100 seems to be being phased out (or at least used less frequently): some of the alternatives like Larry as a Martian or stab-shoot-or-shout were a nice change of pace. Also, while the "one topic per day" is an interesting premise, it leads to some shows being particularly bad when the subject isn't as clear or interesting. Larry's first true 1-1 interview with the Mayor of New York also felt a little too realaxed: he actually asked the mayor how affordable housing helped income equality (it sounded like the style of obvious-answer question you'd hear on a late-night informercial); given Larry isn't coming from an interview background though, this can be forgiven (and remember Stewart's interview with John Kerry when he was running for president?)

    Okay, so why 7/10 with all those problems? Because despite those problems, the show is funny. Larry overall does a good job hosting: he's very likable, quick witted, and treats all panelists fairly and makes sure they all get a chance to speak; during the panel, he does a good job asking interesting questions and followups and finds a good balance between giving his own opinions and letting others speak. He also has broad appeal and can talk about minority issues while still being accessible to middle-class white fans. Some people complain he looks awkward: that's true, but I think it's partially just his slightly geeky style, which I find works well enough. There have been interesting conversations, good satire, and having a show with primarily minority guests brings a new perspective to late night TV. As a whole, I feel the good outweighs the bad, and the kinks can be worked out.    … Expand

    Love this show. Wilmore has one of the liveliest and best panel discussions going. He is an excellent moderator. Really recommend the show and look forward to seeing how Wilmore develops the show over time.

    I figured I'd give it a month to work out the kinks - plus I like Larry. But the show is just lurching from concept to concept...is it an interview show? A panel show? Is it Larry's show? WTF is keep it 100? An awkward and clunky mess that just doesn't work (and it appears producers agree as it appears to be disappearing...even the best incarnation of it with Larry at the end.I figured I'd give it a month to work out the kinks - plus I like Larry. But the show is just lurching from concept to concept...is it an interview show? A panel show? Is it Larry's show? WTF is keep it 100? Although, I thought the show with Mayor De Blasio was a bit of miss....Wilmore isn't really an interviewer and lacks the punch of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert...so it came off as a bit of puff piece and probably the weakest show so far.     It's unfunny. I love every show on comedy central and this is by far the biggest drag of a show on CC. Wilmore is just awkward and unemotional. Hopefully he gets settled in and becomes more comfortable.

    This is not a very objective observation but opinions are not objective: I just don't like the guy. There's something arrogant, snarky and sort of lazy about him. Plus to me, he plays the race card a little much, it gets old quick. as if he thinks it makes him hip or cool. They should have given the show to Wyatt Cenac, Jason Jones, Samantha Bee, Assiv Manvi, or anyone else but this guy!

    Wilmore has some gigantic shows to fill. Thankfully he's not trying to mimic the Colbert Report which would be impossible. Instead he's providing a funny and provocative panel show. Still don't know if he's witty enough to carry a nightly show (no pun intended) but I must admit, it's interesting and topical.

    Like Stewart, Wilmore is good at using jokes to cut down overblown public figures, and he isn’t afraid to be self-deprecating. His opening monologue is typically the best part of the show.... The shakiest part of the show during its first week has been the middle panel-discussion segment, which features a mix of comedians and political commentators talking about the episode’s topic.

    It's still a little clunky, particularly in terms of editing, and it feels as if all involved are figuring out the right ratio of jokes to information. Yet there's a lot to recommend here.

    Wilmore had a few bugs in his performance on opening night: He was a little too giggly, and a few times he spokesofast it turned his lines into what-did-he-say? mush. That said, his clear excitement for this opportunity was endearing.
