    I noticed a lot of the reviews stated that they grew tired of the banal roundtable discussions and the fact that racism was more than prevalent on every episode. I agree to some extent, however, I fell compelled to add that Wilmore only addressed racism as it pertains to black people. He never addresses Hispanic, Native American, LGBTQ, Muslim.....racism. Racism is not a term that pertains to only black people. He even called his book "I Wish They Had Just Given Me A Casino" which as a Native American I found extremely racist on his part. Racism is ugly, hurtful, painful, dangerous and corroding and if the root of it is not addressed on all levels then it will only continue. It might change to focus more on one group than another, but, the essence of it is hate and intolerance. If you allow that to manifest in any way against any group of people (as a whole) then racism will continue and if you make progress with your particular group of people be assured it will just jump to another group and then circle back around to you. Now he is claiming racism is the reason he was cancelled. I object to this - he did not cover racism except from a one dimensional perspective. I also agree that the round table discussions were less than adequate. I gave this show a long, long chance to show me something and it didn't.… Expand

    This is the most racially damaging show on television. I'm writing this review after finding out this joke of a show will be canceled in hopes that nothing like this is ever made again. Basically, if you missed it, Trevor Noah would come on at 11 and talk about all the relevant news with a leftist, humorous spin. BUT THEN Larry Wilmore would come on at 11:30 and tell you why everythingThis is the most racially damaging show on television.     Honestly Larry Wilmore is the most racist person on television and they have Drumpf on there right now! Viacom took a good thing and ruined it, set it on fire and pushed the whole thing into a pile of **** The only right choice they've made on this show since Colbert left the time slot is to cancel it.    … Expand

    The show is a poor substitute for Stephen Colbert. Larry is flat and whiny with no sense of comedic timing. His show is incredibly one dimensional, and that dimension in non-stop race baiting. He's basically an unfunny one trick pony.

    I use to watch the daily show because it was entertaining and they made honest jokes about the news, but now I don't care to watch anymore. It's not really funny and it is kinda racist. I feel like the change was to sway the presidential election. It's terrible people have to make crap like this to separate this country even more. It's made my family more racist and I hate it.

    Just change the name to "The Racist Show with Political hack Larry Wilmore". The saddest, most pathetic half hour on television. The "Round Table" discusses the most inane topics, and his guests are either c-list, or his racist friends. Did I mention the Show is racist?...

    While it showed promise early on, it never built on what potential it had, in fact, the show seemed to have peaked within the first month as it has made no decent improvements since then. All of the guests agree with each other on almost everything. There's no conflict here.     This show is awful, I wanted to give it a fair shot and watched a couple of weeks worth of episodes. After a week I stopped even bothering to watch the panels and stuck to the monologue. I noticed immediately that most of the content was racially based, but at the time there was a lot going on in the nation involving race. But even when racial tensions died down for the rest of the news networks, Wilmore just kept going with it. The show isn't funny, the rhetoric is extremely shallow and one sided. Wilmore wasn't the best correspondent on the Daily Show, and he certainly wasn't the best choice for a stand-alone program. This show should not have had a second season, and based on the ratings, should not have a third. Even Trevor Noah, who we all feared would fail as a newcomer has proven to be charming and funny. Wilmore still hasn't hit is stride, and likely never will.… Expand

    Larry Wilmore is a racist. It's been over a year and he cannot go an episode without a racist joke toward white people. All sponsors of this show supports racism.

    I never thought somebody would make a news show more discriminatory than fox news. it uses its cast to insult anybody it slightly disagrees with and uses only a small perspective when showing its "news"

    How has this show not been cancelled? It's not funny, it's awkward, and the host is totally incompetent. To top it off, every time it goes to a commercial it's all "Hey! If you or a friend is in the New York area, come see the show!". If they have trouble getting together a studio audience, then i can't imagine that they'd be getting any viewers. Comedy Central has let this show run forHow has this show not been cancelled? It's not funny, it's awkward, and the host is totally incompetent.     The guy sucks......I mean, he may have ONE good joke or skit the entire night. Not only that, he is constantly bringing on a mixture of people....LOTS of black people, and then a mix of others. I dont know if its a intent to diversify or appeal to a new audience but as a veteran of TDS, this really....really leaves a bad taste in my mouth.     I watch comedy central all the time, it's my go to channel, and was a huge fan of The Daily Show and Colbert. Because of this, I really wanted to like this show. Unfortunately, I've found the show is less about humor and more about pushing a political agenda. It seems that Wilmore makes everything about racism or sexism, even when it's nowhere to be found. Now, it is important to noteI watch comedy central all the time, it's my go to channel, and was a huge fan of The Daily Show and Colbert. Because of this, I really wanted to like this show. Unfortunately, I've found the show is less about humor and more about pushing a political agenda. It seems that Wilmore makes everything about racism or sexism, even when it's nowhere to be found. Now, it is important to note that over the past couple of years the two Comedy Central news shows have changed substantially, but I've found that Trevor Noah has been doing a fantastic job with the Daily Show. I could see how a show like this would be enjoyable if you are in line with the political views expressed, but even then it wouldn't be a comedy show, it would just be someone snidely telling you things you already believe. I dislike how an ongoing theme of the show is that someone doesn't have the right to talk about certain issues because they are not in a protected class (ie. women's issues if you aren't a woman or police violence if you aren't black). The show seems to lack the nuance of a political show and the humor of a comedy show. I guess it's a bad sign when they have Al Shapton on the show and out of the four person panel he seemed to be the most willing to discuss nuanced issues without resorting to the lazy "it's because of racism" answer. If you are familiar with Francesca Ramsey on Youtube, the show is very similar to her videos (which explains why she joined the writing staff of the show a couple months ago).

    The other thing that irks me is the "keep it 100" segment. For those who are unfamiliar, the premise is that an online follower will write in a question (usually some kind of "would you rather..." question) and Wilmore answers it (originally it was questions Wilmore asked his guests). The goal, of course, is to answer the question with a totally blunt and honest answer. Often the questions are either inane or set up to get Wilmore to talk about how much he hates Trump. Often he doesn't even answer them honestly, he just says something the crowd wants to hear. One in particular was something along the lines of "if you were stranded on a desert isle like in the film, Castaway, and someone comes to bring you back to the US, but he tells you Trump has won the presidency, would you stay on the island or go back to the US with him?" Wilmore's answer was that he would stay on the island, which was met with applause and the writers awarding him with "100" stickers (meaning they believed he had "kept in 100"). Maybe I'm approaching this incorrectly, but I highly doubt that an entertainer (likely without remarkable survival skills) would prefer to stay stranded on a desert island than return to the US with Trump as president. It seems to me that this answer is the epitome of what would warrant "weak tea" (an indication that one had not "kept it 100").

    In summation, it's possible that I'd like this show better if my beliefs were closer to those of Wilmore and his writers (I'm not radical, I'm pretty much a centrist on most issues), but I feel that a comedy show shouldn't be so aggressive in pushing a political agenda even if it is political satire.    … Expand

    The show is one dimensional and simply not funny. I am missing the days of Stewart/Colbert back to back. Trevor Noah and Larry Wilmore are not worth an hour of the night, especially with so many other actual good shows on at the same time.

    I thought that it was alright at first, not great but funny at times. However, I have noticed that the show really preaches an anti-white sentiment, only focusing on racial issues or connecting issues to race, making the show rather stale and repetitive. He speaks against racism, yet only focuses on black issues, which shows that only that group matters.

    It was initially depressing to watch how quickly the Larry Wilmore show descended into the most outrageous racism. One would like to believe, that of all people, Blacks would be the ones to say: "Enough!... It stops here! Too many have suffered for too long! Too many have worked for too long to put racism to bed forever! I will not participate!...." But instead, we find ourselves watchingIt was initially depressing to watch how quickly the Larry Wilmore show descended into the most outrageous racism. But instead, we find ourselves watching virulent hate and racist diatribe on TV that wouldn't ever have been acceptable in even 1955, Selma Alabama. A recent episode featured groups of Black men urinating on the heads of White men who they subsequently burned alive.

    But there is epiphany to be gleaned here. By instantly transforming into the same "Bubbas" in pick-up trucks they are so fond of mocking, the folks on the Larry Wilmore show have clearly shown how little difference there is between them and the ultimate foolishness of racist thought. We are Them. They are Us. The main difference being the lack of self-awareness and recognition of their own screaming racism among the panel members on the show. I don't think "Bubbas in pick-up trucks" would be quite so surprised at having their racism pointed out as I suspect the members of the Wilmore show would be.

    So, if not Blacks, who? Who will ultimately stand up and say no to racism? I guess that just leaves me. The end of racism, like the beginning of world peace, begins as a personal decision. I say no. I say it stops here. I say I won't participate any more than I'd allow a friend to go unchallenged if he/she was still doing the: **** **** **** that was so much the way of life in America for way too long. As much as I like Larry and Mike, I can no longer lend tacit support to their hatred and racist rant by watching.    … Expand

    This show trys way too damn hard and is possibly one of the worst most annoying shows i have ever watched. I hope this show gets cancelled.. Its **** terrible and and painful to watch as awkward larry wilmore talks and as his annoying panel trys to be funny.

    I was a staunch fan of comedy central, but this had become a mess, if I dare say their writer team is a group of staunch social-justice warriors and feminists. They drop the ball and light up any immediate story that makes white people look bad, but the second more information on the story comes to light, like the cologne attacks.     I would say, yes, fine you're presenting the 'liberal' from their standpoint view of the story. But they are relentlessly racist, they have almost no white people on their show at any point, and often just disrespect that person. It's always a black panel, it's always the same guys opinion, who is him? I've never seen or heard of him. He presents rather, off humor, if any of this is humor, which it's not, it's just a group of people acting out raged constantly. It's no wonder their ratings plummeted, it's no wonder no one watches the show.    … Expand

The comparison isn't really fair, but the Colbert Report (whose time-slot this show has replaced) could handle both of those criteria with ease.     I always loved watching the Colbert Report because the content was always both informative and funny. Now I see that he was replaced by the biggest piece of crap ever to appear on TV. I'm not quite sure how to minimize all the reasons why I hate Larry so much, but my opinion is likes most of yours. He talks about race every single episode, mostly about slandering white people. Nothing on that show is funny at all and this channel is supposed to be about comedy. The way he mocks other people be pretending to talk like them and the stupid conversations he has with his pretend interviews with the people that work with him makes me want to just punch the TV till aftermath is a a finely grained mound of sand. I wonder how they can find an audience that would want to go see that crap live and actually like it. I'm guessing that they're all deaf and there is a sign that lights up when they are supposed to laugh. I hope I see Larry one day so I can tell him what people really think about his show.     Racism is a huge problem and perhaps this show has a valid place in shining a light on it that takes it too far the other way, but it is increasingly getting painful to watch. I'd give the previous episodes 8/10 but the last 10 to 20 a 1 or 2.

    I do not understand why anyone would waste their time watching this show. It is honestly terrible. Wilmore spends the entire show race-baiting and making the same unfunny jokes over and over. In fact, this show does not belong on Comedy Central, because it has very little comedy involved. Rather, it would be a perfect fit in MSNBC's programming. Do not watch this show.     "Critics" give it a 6.9, the actual audience gives it a 2.8.

    That should tell you something.

    Not to mention, that apparently stereotypes are perfectly alright....as long as they're about the Southern U.S. or white people in general.

Talking about preventing mass shootings, where people are proposing gun zones, where everyone can have their guns, and he's complaining "You're going to add more guns" Yes, you ignorant idiot. More guns is the solution because if you arm the good people. The bad peopleI cant stand the nightly show. Again Larry Wilmore pisses me off with his stupid desperate attempts to make an audience.     I've watched the show several times...hoping hoping hoping it would improve. It's so racial now...I feel he sets the black/white relationship status back instead of forward. I hope the writers head the reviews I see here if they want the show to survive. As it is now, I'm done with it. Besides the race issue constantly in my face, the show is just boring. Sad.

    Like Stewart, Wilmore is good at using jokes to cut down overblown public figures, and he isn’t afraid to be self-deprecating. His opening monologue is typically the best part of the show.... The shakiest part of the show during its first week has been the middle panel-discussion segment, which features a mix of comedians and political commentators talking about the episode’s topic.

    It's still a little clunky, particularly in terms of editing, and it feels as if all involved are figuring out the right ratio of jokes to information. Yet there's a lot to recommend here.

    Wilmore had a few bugs in his performance on opening night: He was a little too giggly, and a few times he spokesofast it turned his lines into what-did-he-say? mush. That said, his clear excitement for this opportunity was endearing.
