Season 2 Review:
The show is not perfect (Basso and Buchanan still lack chemistry in a way that sometimes makes them feel more like siblings than lovers), but it’s consistently entertaining for 10 hours, rarely succumbing to the Netflix sag that often sinks shows this long. It’s an easy, thrilling, one-weekend watch.

Season 2 Review:
Dynamics are different but, once it gets back up to speed, The Night Agent is the same show, endearingly unpretentious and focused purely on a narrative that has no frills, but no fat on it either. As the body count rises and the heroics required of Peter again start to seem impossible, it gets the job done.

Season 2 Review:
Who cares if it's a little ridiculous when it hits all of its emotional marks? I care a little, but not enough to stop watching when Peter and Rose have more injustice to uncover and lives to save. And it is just so easy to become addicted to watching them do it, especially by the time you get to the rip-roaring finale.

Season 1 Review:
Those who fell in love with The Recruit will feel right at home with the new series, and those in need of another action title as they await the return of Reacher will also be more than satisfied. This isn't breaking any new ground in terms of its genre, but it does manage to take what works in previous shows and run with it.

Season 1 Review:
Subversion of the action-thriller norm is a good feature, though it comes with a downside: When the tension between the equally matched pair inevitably turns romantic, some of the air goes out of the show, as detection and action make room for bland soul searching and weak rom-com repartee.

Season 2 Review:
The show’s breakneck plotting can be more exhausting than exhilarating. The Night Agent is too eager to please (and too Netflix-y in its reliance on spoken exposition rather than visual storytelling) to become fatally murky, but despite some impressive action, it doesn’t hit that hard, either.

Season 1 Review:
Though, despite being occasionally absorbing, the series can’t quite achieve the balance between thriller and drama needed to strike a steady tone. No doubt this could easily be cleaned up and trimmed into a two-and-a-half-hour movie in the right hands. But in Netflix’s boundless arena, The Night Agent is a slog slowly into the dark of the evening, never quite living up to its title’s gloriously silly potential.
