I can't remember the last time I planned my day around a TV show. Yes, it's that good. Lindelof and Perrotta have given me a metaphysical oasis in a sea of mediocre, formulaic TV. Thank you, Leftovers, for bringing wonder back to Sunday night.

'The Leftovers' is still one of the most brilliant TV exercises ever. It is weirdly captivating and the characters are absolutely amazing. This final season starts with a bang and promises to keep digging into the addictive insanity of its plot.

I typically would not take the time to write a review about a tv series. Despite the many fabulously artistic, well written and acted special series I have enjoyed over the years (increasing better and more cerebral each year I might add...thank you HBO and Showtime as Pioneers and the new players building upon that momentum (A&E, Amazon, Hulu, and Netflix). Despite the brilliance of showsI typically would not take the time to write a review about a tv series. Despite the many fabulously artistic, well written and acted special series I have enjoyed over the years (increasing better and more cerebral each year I might add...thank you HBO and Showtime as Pioneers and the new players building upon that momentum (A&E, Amazon, Hulu, and Netflix). Despite the brilliance of shows such as Weeds, Soparanos, The C Word, Friday Night Lights, Breaking Bad, OA, Stranger Things, and now Better Call Saul.., none had pushed me to the point of comment to this degree. The reason being, this series transcends normal television in every way possible and forces me to see life through so many lens I would have normally ignored. It's interesting to see how often I observe parallels with my own life and relationships and how hard and **** life can be sometimes. The 'family' here one minute, gone the next...so true and ever changing in my existence.

The "Great Departure's" mystery best explained or better yet proclaimed as the rapture. The rest of us, 'Leftovers' are not only seemingly not "pure of heart and our judgement will continue. As if that wasn't enough, we are expected to navigate our ****, meaningless lives with no real answers and seeming unresolved closure for anyone or anything we lost. Yet, the brilliance is how life finds and way to go on in so many new ways. People form cults, and take power through scamming the weak.. The GR seems as such an example but we learn through time there are seemingly more sinister and we have to see how (if ever) that truly plays out since they have been relatively absent in the first 6 episodes. Human nature and society tends to desire closure, the GR's blatant purpose to force us to remember should be their first worst attribute, but we sense that's just the tip of the iceberg.

As a Chemist, I love the interesting dictomy between fact and faith. The sciencetists are working very hard to show how science can explain all of it away. That is being strongly overshadowed by a world who population largely follows some form of religion. Admittedly, I have always leaned towards fact over faith. This series propellers me to look deeper, believe stronger, and work harder to find the equilibrium that just might tick into place on October 15th in Melbourne. While we know many loose end will remain, one thing is ubundantly clear to me, we have been witnessing pure genius in the writing, cast, and the lyal fans who have "lived" this series for the past 3 years. Bravo!

What an amazing way to end an incredible series (which ended too soon). This season should have definitely been no less than 10 episodes, that being said, the 8 HBO gave them made each and every moment a gift. If you're asking where did the "departed go" you're missing the point of this superior work of human emotion, loss, grief and the beautifully strange story being told. Must watch.

It's a mixture of faith and reason. Every difficult to understand event in the show is filled with that dichotomy. The series shows variety of human behaviour and attitude towards inexplicable phenomenon. What people are capable of doing to cope with their grief and how do they make sense of the world that has changed so rapidly and irreversibly. It's a dark, brutal, bleak, fantastic, visionary mysterious, emotional, depressing, mystical, funny, crazy, liberatory and sublime show. It will drag you through the dirt and then lift you up in the sky. The cast is phenomenal and their acting is mind-blowing (it's almost disgusting that actors from that show were notoriously ommited by the Emmys). I'm pretty sure that Max Richter's music in the show can move anyone to tears. I cried like a baby on so many scenes. I'd answer: "The Leftovers case". And no, it's not some random set of colorful epithets just to, you know, "full the box". I have expressed myself rather calm and soft. 'Cause this one here deserves all the love and tributes from the audience. Enough with the idle talk, there are some things to elaborate.

First thing to mention is how exactly this series have evolved throughout seasons, 3 seasons to be precise. When we watch the Pilot of any movie we all know that with each year it will only getting worse and worse. Yes, there are some exceptions like BrBa or GoT. However, I must intimate that these two tv shows and a few others from its beginning were just good as they have become closer to the finale. So, Kevin and Nora's situation is way. way different. It took merely 2 years to prove everyone who disliked the first season that this one here is worth your while and it will flourish some day like all kinds of the industry in the 19th century. Indeed it does as we could witness currently.

The Leftovers is that case when each episode is high-day to viewers and not the another hassle you should bear with. And certainly it goes without saying that without Max Richter's work here there would not be tv show at all. Also would like to mention that the fact the show will finish just about a month from now is such a pleasure. Especially after THE LOST oh my God. I really really hope that Lindelof and Perrotta would not screw this baby up, they simply CANNOT.

Looking forward to a next ep, as always. Will see how my opinion will be changing closer to the finale. But I have a feeling that I'll fall in love with this completely and irrevocably.

I really enjoyed Matt's conversation with David Burton, but that is the only positive moment in the third season for me. While the changes in season 2 led to a great payoff, there doesn't really seem to be a point this time. Many of the characters' storylines are completely aimless other than to reinforce a theme that has been repeated ad nauseam while other new characters are introduced for no real reason. Nora's storyline had some potential but ultimately ends in an disappointing way.

Some viewers may be satisfied with the way that the conflicts are resolved, but after seeing the finale, I would be shocked if anyone loved the final season.

Ah, the old bait and switch. It's increasingly common these days to see TV shows that have found some measure of commercial or critical success to use that as license to take shows in a completely new direction - usually a dark and dreary "artistic vision" sort of direction. True Detective, Mr. Robot, and now we have the Leftovers.

Season 1 was solid. Season 2 was more of the same, except five times better, putting it in the absolute top tier of current television programming. And now we have season 3, and I guess since it's the last season, the creators decided anything goes! Let's forget anything resembling a storyline or cohesive plot, let turn every episode into some quasi metaphysical metaphor. It worked before because it was all tied together by a central storyline, without that it's just another show that's decided they are so great and so profound a good plot is simply unneeded. Well, it is needed, sorry to say.

I still give it a 6 because the performances are still virtuoso, even though the actors are placed in increasingly strained and unrealistic situations. And each episode still works as an off beat short story of sorts. And it is still thought provoking, though not nearly as impactful as it was in season 2 when it had a central thread which really captured and invested the viewer.

Word to all future TV producers: just because your show is successful does not mean that you can go off the rails to pursue your artistic vision. People still want a yarn. We all know the human condition is difficult, we are humans after all. It's not revolutionary to point that out. What makes great TV is pointing that out by giving us characters to empathize with in relatable yet interesting situations. Not by bludgeoning us with it, such as literally having a conversation with God about being human. We want what made the show great in the first place, and that's a story that draws us in, not some bleak statement on being human. Throwing away the blueprint is not ground breaking TV, usually it just ends up being broken TV.

Lost has shown pretty well that ambiguity, mysteriousness and unexplained conflicting phenomenons in a TV show are not likely to produce the mind-splitting shock-and-awe plot twist at the end, where everything fits into the puzzle, but are actually symptoms of a disease you'll see far more often in TV series' writing: Kudzu plots.

Kudzu plots can either show one writer who decentralizes or alembicates the story so much it becomes visibly strenuous to make it coagulate and have a point in the end (I'm looking at you, GRRM) and shoehorning appears towards the end of the story as the writer frantically attempts to tie all the loose ends in a meaningful manner, or, more of a TV-series disease, can show multiple writers all trying to pull the respective show under their own artistic view, alike a room of D&D players all taking turns attempting to railroad the story. The problem of the Kudzu plot disease is that it is dishonest: the viewer starts the show with the impression that the people who built the show have a point to be made at the end, not that they'd strap themselves for a dip into the interesting idea pool, followed by a long period of just winging it and an embarrassing, anticlimactic finale. The producers love Kudzu plots because they keep the audience glued to their screen long enough that until they manage to realize the swindle three seasons have passed and the producers are already three money trains in profit, and because most writers can write a Kudzu plot; Most writers can create entangled messes, the solving of the entanglement is the actual brain-requiring part, and this is why shows who have been consistently good don't stray too much in too many directions - every line thrown has to be knotted back in somehow later.

Introductions aside, The Leftovers exhibits all the symptoms of Kudzu plots. What about the sleepwalking cop? What about the Antichrist? What about the rapture? Strange things happen because? What about the cultists? The show makes no attempt into tying in any of these questions but each new step opens up new questions. The show's religious and magical "explanations" which are given off frugally are also a sign that the plots will most probably be ended by intellectual patches that will make the audience feel unsatisfied. You have been warned.

This show is masterfully and boldly written. There are 3 seasons total and this was the correct decision, the show simply said what it needed to, wrapped up character development for everyone we care about, and it ends with no answers.. why? It doesn't matter. The point of the show is that there is no point and that perfectly mirrors our own existence in this world. WE make our destiny and our purpose, not the other way around. Things happen, families fall apart, but we keep fighting hoping for a better life. The events of October 14th 2011 don't matter, what matters is that they moved forward and created their own purpose and happiness from what happened and maybe just maybe the The Sudden Departure, was the best thing to ever happen to this family. The Leftovers third, and final, season doesn't quite land with the same impact as season two but this is a strong finish to one of the most interesting TV shows I've watched in a while and makes for a more than satisfying conclusion.

É uma obra prima! A ambiguidade do final atende a todos os fãs da série que podem perceber o desfecho da série de formas diferentes.

This series is ridiculously bad. Its not even so bad, its good. The quality performances by most of the actors hide the badness to some degree, but the plot is ridiculous. Its an annoying series, because its watchable, just not enjoyable. At least The Leftovers wasn't dragged out for six seasons like Lost. That would have been unbearable. The ending was mediocre as expected from Lindelof. This series is ridiculously bad. Its not even so bad, its good. NO SPOILERS - my god, this is a good show. don't expect it to show you the answers of everything, just enjoy the ride. it is a golden ride of insanity, i really love the dialog choices, especially when it solves problems i see in other tv shows. and also, it had a very very depressing theme. specially in the 3rd season here. but it's not overwhelming at all. i recommend this to aboutNO SPOILERS - my god, this is a good show. don't expect it to show you the answers of everything, just enjoy the ride. it is a golden ride of insanity, i really love the dialog choices, especially when it solves problems i see in other tv shows. and also, it had a very very depressing theme. specially in the 3rd season here. but it's not overwhelming at all. i recommend this to about anyone who can handle some weird **** that just is, Expand

“The Book of Nora” is reason enough to give the entire season a 10/10 Carrie Coon and Justin Theroux are revolutionary.

Any doubts aren't allowed here anymore. This final season is vindication for the accomplishment HBO is in curating weird left field television risks into runs that top decades and years of silver screen. You will be breathless, you will be confused, you will cry and definitely start from the beginning for the same result every time.

There are no real answers in The Leftovers, even as plot questions are resolved, and the series miraculously turns that ambiguity into its greatest accomplishment.

All the hype leading up to the final approach of The Leftovers has merit. The seven episodes HBO provided are consistently brilliant, sure and mindful about tying up loose ends.

Some of the best acting, directing and ephemeral atmosphere on television. There's so much to say about every episode of The Leftovers, much less to say about the first six episodes of a new season collectively, but the easiest thing to say is that it's not too late to tune in and be awed and confused.
