Someone has to tell bella that overacting is not acting, the beauty is in the subtle eye expressions, eyebrow movements, cheeks, she jump from unexpresive dead face to ugly forced cartoonish emojy mouths while her upper face still dont express anything. Thats only one of the problems here, being the bad writting and pacing the biggest one. We can count by 30 min the amount of time the main characters share moments and thoughs in the whole seasson, you didnt learn anything from the superb game dont you? instead of focusing the episodes on Joel and Ellie relationship they broke the pace inserting useless episodes and plots, i mean who cares about kansas city villian background if you are going to kill the character the next episode.… Expand

El Joel de pedro pascal es un débil sin personalidad ni voluntad propia, hace básicamente todo lo que los demás le dicen que haga, no tiene ni fuerza ni iniciativa propia, ni es un aguerrido superviviente. El arco de los protagonistas es inexistente, no tienen evolución ninguna durante la serie, Ellie es prescindible para el desarrollo de Joel, hasta ese nivel han caído. Patético.… Expand

The Last of Us HBO is definitely one of the worst video game adaptation of all time, and not just that, but it is also a mediocre TV show, not even in the top 3 of early 2023. No one with an iq over 100 would think this **** is wothy of the name, the whole spirit and message of the story is changed, characters are nothing but a bad caricaturesque joke nothing alike the game ones. I cant conceive a human so retarded to had played the game and though this show adapt it correctly, must have lower iq than a bacteria, sure it eat its own **** and keep breathing because of luck.… Expand

Don't waste your time with this series. There's only enough story for about 6 episodes. There's 2 whole episodes, 3 & 7, which are complete misses. Non-linear storytelling that is out of place. Very, very dull almost throughout. A few episodes felt like they forgot where they left off. Another example of an established popular IP being dragged out and publicly destroyed.

There is good in this season of tlou but as i said, alot is skipped and it just feels like a rushthrough. Like i just watched a "this is what happened last season of The last of us 1". Well since the show is being botted by 10 ratings i was gonna give it a 6 after watching all but i suppose since i stand for justice and balance and what is right this show gotta tank, but not because they made a whole episode of gay sex to further lgbt agenda, but because there wasnt much to the show and poor execution.… Expand

It falls at the very essential core of any story, the heros arc. None of characters are good and interesting role models. Also there is no character development, despite a lot of factors. Characters behave the same except maybe Joel turning into cry-baby.
I think some "modern audiences" will love this show because of fact it is so woke but no one really enjoys.
Additionally 3rd episode is a gay romance. Everyone loves that. Right?
To conclude: Rating 3 is only for visuals and atmosphere from original game. Anything else is a trash. I stopped in the middle of 7th episode. Don't waste your time if it is valuable for you.… Expand

Deep sigh. Yet again, another series promising to deliver thrills and excitement and instead hammers you over the head with its woke credentials. There are not many zombies around, and when they do appear they are an afterthought, like a confusing garnish. The logic of how they function is not explored at all.

After a passable first two episodes, the series plummets into embarrassing, maudlin, and simplistic stories in a hilariously woke post-apocalyptic world. The two excellent actors who play the leads are miscast, and directed in such a way that completely sucks the energy out of every scene. Overall, just boring and annoying. For way better zombie apocalypse thrills, head over to the early seasons of The Walking Dead.… Expand

In the middle of an apocalypse, they seem to have endless supplies of new clothes and guns and electricity and... well, pretty much everything else. It's as if everything is normal except for a few zombies here and there. One old couple has been living in the middle of nowhere since decades, and yet everything in their house is brand spanking new. And guess what? They are fat as f#ck to boot! In the damned end of the world! How can two people even survive, let alone thrive in the wild alone? Without any help from the rest of the world? There is also a large settlement which is literally a small town in itself! Complete with all the luxuries of life!

And finally, the story is boooooring! There nothing new here. In fact it is somehow even more boring than your average zombie show because all the action and interesting bits have been removed in exchange for old men porn, sexualizing children, and the frequent forced woke preaching.

The creators of this show should be ashamed of themselves.… Expand

The Last of Us tricks you in the first episode as something that will have story quality, consistency, and smarts. But as you move from one episode to the other, you start to realize what kind of a show you really have on your hands.

Joel although played by Pedro Pascal who I don't like at all as an actor, he's been doing the best of what he's allowed to do. You won't get the Joel of the first TLOU game, but the one from the second game. This Joel although a former soldier, he handles guns with the skill of someone that just watched people using guns on TV.

This Joel lets Ellie boss him around and even control how every conversation goes. First game Joel was a hardened man that had closed his heart to feelings, and wasn't about doing reckless dumb things. Although flawed Ellie needed him, and eventually she learns from him and he learns from her.

That's what made The Last of Us special. It was the story that made the first game special.

Ellie is just insufferable. Who thought that Bella Ramsey had the acting skills to be Ellie, really missed the mark by miles. Ellie is arrogant, emotionless, reckless to the point she completely ignores Joel solid and wise advices, and she acts as if she doesn't really needs Joel.

Nico Parker that played Sarah should've been Ellie. Seeing Parker at least showed great father daughter chemistry with Pascal, and they seemed to click better in the kind of relationship that Joel and Ellie need to develop.

Visually its clear that they spared no expenses to show that world as it should he showed. But that's about the only good thing the show really has.

The second game was a disaster of a story and character development, and this show is obviously following that path.

This show will never be what The Walking Dead was. So if you're waiting for that to happen, save yourself a lot of time and move on to another show.

The Last of Us is a sinking ship, and with each episode it just sinks deeper and deeper.… Expand

It’s a shame they used what would have been a great tv show as a platform for activism and to be edgy. In episode 8 the producers were proud that Joel didn’t make it to the restaurant to kill the enemy. They really complete the circle of wokism here: diversity hires, white people are bad/problematic, religious people are cultist/evil, black people always seem to have a justified/good intent, gay focus in nearly 2 episodes, Ellie’s actor is non binary, Joel is stretched to Latino descent actor and he’s portrayed as more weak/angry. I’m Chinese and I’m sick of the identity politics. This is why I give it a 2 to lower the rating. People need to lash out against the wokism in entertainment that is being used to push an agenda. I made it to episode 6 before dropping it. As it stands this show is a poor imitation of the video game, the voice actors of the original last of us did a MUCH better job with the characters then the actors for this show. Pedro Pascal looks the part as Joel but asking a hispanic man to do a texas accent was never going to be good. Bella Ramsey as Ellie sucks, they try to feed her lines from the game but she has no confidence in her delivery so it just sounds stilted and bad. Some of the action scenes are just dumb, in the sniper part a random hole just appears and infected pour out like its **** gears of war. I also wasn't a fan of the entire episode dedicated to Bills relationship, I get it, they are gay, the game didn't dedicate an entire level to it and yet this show wants to treat it as his defining character trait. Also race swapping Joel's daughter and Tommy's wife is just weird, one character I could understand but the entire cast? Come on.… Expand

"Pointless", is this show described in one word. There is nothing in here that hasn't been done to death a thousand times before. And even the game, to being with, didn't have anything special for a story. Yes it was alright, but it was not at all the profound masterpiece that a lot of people would have you believe. Now translated over to TV this is just boring filler without the fun gameplay of the video game. Worse, it is further distorted and disfigured by the forced addition of woke ideologies and very, very poor casting.

As I said, a TV show about a video game is pointless. Just watch the gameplay if you really feel so compelled to experience the mediocre story.… Expand

I used to be a big fan of the video game. It was a good mix of adventure, on the road feeling, a desolate future, and human nature. The same reason why the Walking dead in it's prime was excelent - it was never about the zombies, infected orI used to be a big fan of the video game. The same reason why the Walking dead in it's prime was excelent - it was never about the zombies, infected or whatever made our species near extinct, but rather the stories of people - what would you do when the logic of our world changes.

Last of us, the film, started out superbly. But the feeling I really enjoyed in the game really evaporated as it went on.

So maybe my review is affected greatly by this nostalgia I was looking for.
Anyway, here are my observations.

The good:
- atmosphere
- the looks
- Joel's character

The bad:
- The filler stories (ep 3 & 7)
- Elli's character - it's okay if she looks different than the game Ellie. But her character is something else too. She's an angry foulspeaking teenager now, with a psychopatic streak in her personality. It started out bad, but getting a bit better. - The - flow - You have atmospheric episodes, then action, a cliffhanger, then you get an episode that gives nothing to the story. Like many said the flashbacks consume a lot of the show's time for little benefit. It's nice to see character buildup but it can be done with less time. It breaks the flow of the show completely.
- how you treat your audience - when you receive criticism, you blame your audience. Have you ever for once considered, that not everyone is a homophobic trash who did not like episode 3 and 7? Yes, I understand the two what have in common is lgbt romance. Also, aside that, they are also common in their style of storytelling: out of the flow episodes which add little to the whole. The game handled this issue very subtly, because that was not the point of the story.… Expand

I loved the game. One of best games ever.

I would like to watch whole movie about it but when I click play on the last of us I want action and thrill in at least 50% of the episode.

But yes, it's also true that the show started with a lot of promise, and then gave us an unnecessarily boring episode 3 that had no relevance to the game or the storyline. It was supossed to be faithful to the game, but their only efort was to copy paste a couple of dialogues, meanwhile the whole story and characters were abandoned or worse, changed to mere average tv products under bad writting.

this is prolly the worst thing HBO has ever made. THE CAST! THE **** CAST!!! No actor fits their character. Pedro Pascal is a good actor, but a terrible Joel. I don't even wanna talk about the rest.

Episode six killed this show pushing kids to have (censored). Also, destroying Joel mentally in that episode is just foreshadowing them doing it physically. All roads lead to Abby Smash.

It was smart of them to restrain themselves for the first two episodes. Not surprised, the games themselves were incredibly subversive, shalom, it simply wasnt as obvious for regular person to notice.

As a gay dude, when I saw the Don't Tread On Me Flag, I thought, okay, now we've got a character that's going to subvert stereotypes and really bring things home as a badass. Instead, we got a joke of an episode that was plodding melodrama a la one of those daytime drama shows that women of a certain age are into. Nothing against their tastes, but this is the last kind of thing I expected from this previously great series, and it left me with a bad taste in my mouth, like I was being swindled, again. If I wanted to watch one of those cheesy melodramas, I would pick something other than what is supposed to be an HBO prestige piece. Just lame and predictable.… Expand

E3 - didn't like it, didn't watch it. E4 boring and stale. The story is thin. I mean really thin. Hell even season 3 of TWD was better and it seemed it dragged on for eternity. Episode 5 - good episode. Some boring parts, but seemed to pickup a bit. Episode 6 - Decent enough episode. Quite a few cringe moments that have nothing to do with the story and every thing to do with the Hollyweird's politics. Bit turn off Episode 7 - preview makes me think I'll skip it. The actors/ Characters are not skilled enough to carry the show alone. I mean does anyone feel Joel is Rick or even a John Snow type? He is in the game.. the girl is very unlikable. You couldn't do worst unless you recasted her as Fran Dresher - that might even be an upgrade. To all the review stating this is the best show ever, I have to question their honesty. The show looks good, if you mute out, and glance at it occasionally. The work as a whole, is only slightly better than a CW show.… Expand

Ну что глянули сие творение , игра однозначно лучше передает все переживание героев , смерть Сары в игре я рыдал каждый раз как дохожу до этой сцены (а вот игра Нико Паркер напомнила сцену из Маски), + фильма: раскрывают больше событий, обозревают прологи и истории , что было за кадром в игре. Обалдительный визуал и внимание к деталям ( но Паскалю нужно было все таки броду отрастить). Великолепный звук и музыка. Как всегда хромает каст (на любителя). Сценарий ( зачем нужно было переделывать все?): вопрос как заразилась бабушка ? если зараженные живут не более суток ? как они не смогли увидеть укус?… Expand

I tried to watch this but it strays so far from the game it might as well be called not another zombie show. If you haven't played the game then I suppose you won't understand what an incredible story it is. This is not tlou.

I am going to start with the most obvious which is the fact that I think the romance between Bill and Frank was unrealistic. It starts off with Bill finding Frank in a hole, and letting him stay in his house. However, despite Bill being lonely, the decision to let some random stranger into his home when Bill is a seasoned paranoid survivalist still seemed unrealistic to me. Even if we give this scene the benefit of the doubt, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Bill then decides to have dinner with Frank, which to me was actually not that bad of a scene, and it was enjoyable seeing Bill loosen up a little bit, a rare part of the episode that actually wants to dedicate time to character building, and getting to see a side of Bill that we wouldn't first expect from him, but still feels natural for the most part. But what sucks is that all of this character building was done for nothing because Frank, a complete stranger to Bill, makes out with him only after a few minutes of talking. I would have liked it more if we saw the relationship build overtime, with Frank failing at his attempts to win over Bill's trust, but slowing developing a stronger relationship with him, and contributing to Bill becoming more optimistic, and also slowly hinting that he had feelings for him. It would have been a more enjoyable arc to see than just a random person you just met becoming your gay lover in the span of 5 minutes. Now I am not one of the people who agree that this is "Agenda", because I think that's bull **** But another big problem I do have with this episode that I think is really important is the fact that it just was not relevant by any means to tell the story of Joel and Ellie. What was the point of this episode? No really? Is this The Last of Us or a gay movie? Because a gay movie is what this episode felt like. It just wasn't important to tell these characters life story to help out with the plot. The whole episode just felt like a rushed romantic movie. The fact is that they could have just have showed some of their life, and then just skip to the part where Joel and Ellie got to their hide out and found them dead, and continued our main story with Ellie getting to the fireflies. That's how simple it could have been. But instead, this episode wastes our time with characters that didn't have any significant impact to the story in the slightest, and can easily be forgotten next episode which makes me angry because they could have done something with these characters. My last point is the pacing. This episode compared to the other two was mildly boring. I just don't think a lot happened that was as noteworthy as the start of the pandemic, or Tess and Joel fighting through infected. I truly wish that the writers learn from this, not because I hate the show, but because I like it and I think it has potential to improve so they don't make any of the future episodes as disappointing as this one.… Expand

La serie empezó bien, pero se tornó en una más, con mensajes de políticas woke, que además no aportan nada a la trama de Joel y Eli. Vamos una serie más del montón que hay en la actualidad.

EP 01 and 02 was ok, so far to Ep05 it is just boring AF. Ep3 turning straight man, masculine with survival into a pansy, E04 was just so boring to watch and Ep05 even more boring. Sad how these companies destroy the IP's, the sad thing isEP 01 and 02 was ok, so far to Ep05 it is just boring AF. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The third episode is just a disaster. I was playing the original game and was looking forward to the TV series. There are absolutely no homosexual moments in the game. Why, what right do you have to actually force people to watch such openly homosexual scenes? All people have different views, different religions, and if someone is interested in certain content, there are plenty of ways to choose the right movie. But the game is absolutely not about that. Why are you doing this? To observe international values, to promote propaganda here, to receive a TV award? You have no right to do this! For many people with different views, such homosexual content is simply not acceptable! If you even wanted to come up with additional plot branches with homosexuals, you could do it less openly, why should I watch it? We could just leave behind the scenes explicit scenes and show a hint that this couple is homosexual, lives together and that's it! You are violating people's rights! Try to understand how people with other religions and life values of the present family feel. Imagine if you were forced to watch, for example, a whole series of how animals are tortured, would you like it? For some people, what you have shown causes similar feelings. Shame!… Expand
