This is a show that breathes life back to the Dane/Saxon struggle in England. Each season have been improving drastically, and the show keeps getting better. The cast of this show have been extremely fun to watch, especially the main character, his retainers, and the Saxons. The main conflicting antagonist of this season performed brilliantly and King Alfred's portrayal was flawless and emotional. The only problems with characters/acting were the Danes. The Danes were definitively less intimidating and interesting than previous seasons.

Also, the main conflicting ideals, goals, and responsibilities of each character was really put to test in this season. These conflicts really reflect the brilliance of the show during the conflict on England . In my opinion the power struggles in the court and religious conflict have been the shining moments of the show.
The story was really well done and very fun to watch. I admit some scenes this season were a bit of a head scratcher, but overall I enjoyed it greatly.
The battles were amazing scenes to watch. It is not only the fighting scenes that are well done, but the preparations, result, and role it plays that are done well.
Overall season 3 was a really amazing and emotional season that was done very well. I really hope that there is a season 4, because the buildup, characters, and story seem to be going into even stronger and more interesting heights.

Season 3 is incredibly awesome. Netflix put some money into season 3 and has produced a very slick and more professional production than did the BBC in seasons 1 or 2. They were into this story far more than the previous 2 seasons, and it showed! Season 3 has a few flaws, but, man, did they hit it out of the ballpark! Some viewers didn't like the amount of divergence from the base material, but the author of the books, Bernard Cornwell, is extremely happy with season 3. Asked if the divergences bothered him, he said, "Not at all." If he's not bothered by the changes, why should his fans be bothered? I'm certainly not! It was fabulous and the lead actor, Dreymon, did his best work yet! If a season 4 isn't produced, and quickly, Netflix will be making a very bad decision. This series finally has some traction! I really enjoy this series, but did no one notice the laughably awful acting by the portrayer of the new cartoon character, Skade? I know it's critical to have tough, bloody, completely unrealistic female characters, but hers is a new low for this otherwise very entertaining, very well-done series. Lose the skirt.

This show is fantastic. The first season was okay but each season keeps getting better and better. So happy to see there is a season 4 in the works.

Watched it with my girlfriend and was very good. Uhtred continues to be a absolute beast and the action scenes are secondary to none.

It is a good story about dark times, about peoples lived in this time. Great project forcing to worry about the characters. their feelings. their losses, their war. Good sequel, good story, good music. Thanks to creators. Looking forward to the 4 season

weakness — Michael Hirst does slam bang adventure but you care less. If this is the series reflecting Brexit, it is also the one in which Prince Edward steps up to the plate. Alfred thinks —he forces his son to think. Edward’s growth is a credit to his father and again, thought provoking writing by Butchard. Also, Uthred’s tender relationships with Brida, Hild, and ultimately the King make you tear up here and there.

Every series renews conflict between Alfred and Uthred — I was annoyed this time at the extent to which Aelswith harps on Uthred, especially since she had mellowed in season two and he had recovered her daughter from the Danes. Was also at first disappointed that Uthred did not engage with Athelflaed as he did in Cornwell’s book, but the renewal of his relationship with Brida, even though not a romantic one, lent depth. Overall the negatives were picky on my part; it is simply a terrific ride from its blast off of a start through the finish.

The best show I've seen in years. I am begging for more seasons. The cast and production values are unmatched in any other. Alexander Dreymon is magnificent as Uhtred.

Amazing series, infinitely better and deeper than Vikings and more interesting due to the historical nature of the subject than Game of Thrones.

Each character is complex, believable and incredibly well acted. Especially that of King Alfred (David Dawson).

The show has gotten constantly better over time and it truly deserves many more seasons.

This is a show that has matured like a good wine. Excel;ent performances from a good ensemble. You can tell the small signs from morphing from a BBC to a Netflix show. The two central characters of Alfred and Uhtred are well played, especially David Dawson as Alfred; The final scene between them is touching and very well acted.

Season three of The Last Kingdom loses a bit of the luster that the first two seasons had, but it's still a great show to watch that takes a more realistic approach to the tales of legendary Danes.

Season 3 was a return to form after a poor season 2 (pathetic script). Couldn't stop watching. Great job.
Give an Emmy to that guy playing Alfred. Best royal character I've seen in a long time.

Even better than the past two seasons. Bigger production budget allowed a general increase in the overall quality of the show. Unbeatable in its class and category. The Last Kingdom Season 3 is so moreish, it makes you want more and more of Uthred and his adventures, even though you can conjecture the end of the story (which is not yet) will probably make you grieve for days or so as there is no happy denouement to it and facts and historical truth must prevail.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but season 3 is actually better than the first two. The number of women Uhtred is going through is a bit ridiculous, but overall the series has gone from "barely watchable because there's not much else to watch" to "not bad".

So, The Last Kingdom Season 3, finally available in my region on Netflix. Coming from the first two seasons, there is still a lot of 'Stuff that happened offscreen' as characters talk exposition for most of the first episode. After though, the season rapidly picks up.

The season knows highs and lows in terms of excitement. It starts off very strong with an escalation between Uthred and Alfred, leaving the viewer to wonder if this is finally the moment that he will strike out on his own. His loyalty to friends gets the better of him though, and once again he sets out to protect his friends. You see, he's cursed by the sexiest fortune-teller in England, who wants to sleep with him. Poor Uthred...

Unfortunately, the escalation between Uthred and Alfred never really goes anywhere, as this season starts to feel more like a soap than a chapter in a Saga. A lot of scenes are about Danish lords **** as to who owns the fortune-teller, to the point that it feels as if the writer hit CTRL+V multiple times.

Scene by scene, the show crawls forward without purpose or a direction. From episode 5 till 8, the show seems to completely lose its identity, and could be called Scrubs but without humor, flashbacks or even a good soundtrack. Did the show runner leave for coffee in the middle of this season?

And then from episode 8 till the final one, the show picks up again. The argument between Uthred and Alfred is resolved, and the threat of the Danes is (once again) beaten back. Not as strong or epic as the previous seasons unfortunately.

The production value of the show is fortunately still very good. The creators still use practical effects, battles with actors instead of CGI, and it is as visceral as ever!

After watching this season, I'm convinced that The Last Kingdom is now also another mediocre show that cares more about filling a set amount of episodes than actually entertaining the viewer. Such a shame. I give this season a 6/10.

Its not quite as good as the first 2 seasons in terms of substance but the quality of production has improved.
