It’s valid to say the premise borrows heavily from Flowers for Algernon. However, using that as a springboard the miniseries takes the story to great heights. The range required of Mr. Jackson to bring this story home is especially challenging but that challenge is fully met. Not really a mystery, but more of a character story and an analysis of what family really means and that it’s never to late to accomplish a life of value. The race for several Emmys starts here.
