She has a very sharp edge, but it comes off as forceful and assertive rather than just plain **** Doug (Kevin James) is like a big kid trapped in an even bigger body (they make numerous fat jokes at his expense). And Arthur (Jerry Stiller) is Carrie's father but he is broke, so lives in the basement. He, too, acts like a big kid and delivers some of his trademark tantrums. How the three interact with each other is authentic while entertaining. Even with all the show's humor, they still try to have underlying themes or lessons - at least in some of the episodes. The show usually tries to involve real-life type situations, but without being too preachy or serious. Expand

King of Queens is a sitcom focusing on Doug (James) and Carrie Heffernan (Remini), a working-class couple living in Queens, New York, along with Carrie's father, Arthur Spooner (Stiller).

The set-up was hardly an original one, even back in 1998, but the writing and comic timing of the leads always made this show a fun watch. It may not be as well remembered as some other 90’s sitcoms

Always have loved this show! I wonder why the score is 51! Every episode has a good story line and is hilarious! The only bad thing is that the Aurther situation about him living there gets a little old. but that's my only complaint!

Arthur Spooner is the real comedy king in the King of Queens. Carrie is the sexpot. Although she seemed
better looking when she had a few more pounds back in 2004 and wasn't the skin-and-bones that she
became later on. Doug Heffernan. Now there's a guy who packed on the pounds, but he was always a funny guy. I've probably seen every episode of "King of Queens" 20 times. And every time

talking about Arthur the funniest line ever? Great program, probably the greatest comedy ever.

Very underrated sitcom, good acting, writing, and funny jokes. The occasional weak episode here and there, but very good nevertheless. Better than most sitcoms today.

This is the second best show on TV, behind prison break. 9.5/10 stars only because prison break is that good and I did not want to put them on the same level. Go dukes. Trust the process!

Not too original, but the cast makes this King more than a commoner.

The King of Queens isn't master of its time slot yet, but with consistent writing, it could follow in the tradition of The Honeymooners. [20 Sept 1998, p.F1]

It has heart but no teeth, charm without chutzpah. [21 Sept 1998, p.46]
