Aug 18, 2011I've only seen the first episode, but I'm absolutely going to keep watching. The cast is excellent (Ben Winshaw & Dominic West in particular), but it's the sense of impending danger that keeps thing especially intriguing. I'm fired up to see the rest. It's a perfect stopgap before the fall season begins.

Aug 21, 2011Simply excellent. The attention to detail, the acting, the story every single bit comes together in this show. It's rare for me to like a show this much.

Oct 21, 2011Enticing ... but by the last episode you feel like you have just finished a meal made up of more sauce than meat. The show has the potential to be great, but it runs at far too slow a pace ... and, more importantly, the conspiracy is simply lacking in impact.

Sep 7, 2011Very good show, I´ve watched all 6 episodes already and I was a bit disappointed towards the end, but overall the acting is good, the script is satisfying, and i liked it.

Sure, it's not particularly deep and has some pacing issues, but it's a generally watchable, well-acted effort.
-
It offers amusement and a tad of suspense, but little to ponder over the long run.

The smartly written series throws a lot of information, historical context, beautiful sets and costumes at viewers early on to create what eventually becomes a first-rate thriller.
