Though I'm sad to see this unique comedy go after four seasons, I give showrunner Michael Schur props for ending things on his own terms rather letting this story-heavy comedy run out of energy. Though I don't think this is the best season, this is a good finish.

Though I'm sad to see this unique comedy go after four seasons, I give showrunner Michael Schur props for ending things on his own terms rather letting this story-heavy comedy run out of energy. Though I don't think this is the best season, this is a good finish.

Like the previous seasons, you get a lot of interesting ideas thrown at you within a short run time. Efforts are made to include appearances from a lot of the best recurring characters on the show for one last time. I was never the biggest fan of Shawn (Marc Evan Johnson), but I really felt they added layers to the once two-dimensional character.

Also, great finale. The show has always surprisingly worked well using the underpinnings of philosophy, and the last episode really takes this theme to a new level. The cast and characters remain excellent and their conclusions are so emotionally well done.

However like I said, this isn't the strongest season. (The odd-numbered ones seem to be the stronger.) After several seasons of the characters dealing with afterlife bureaucracy, similar developments feel a little old hat. We are introduced to a new group of characters who undergo the same circumstances the original humans did when they first landed in the Good Place. However, there characters are more simplistic and lack the more interesting personalities of their predecessors. Also, Tahani (Jameela Jamil) got the short end of the stick storywise a little. The others have strong romantic or platonic relationships and she doesn't really get that with anyone. The jokes just aren't on the same level as earlier seasons, probably since the writers had so much plot to cram in.

I know a lot of people online have complained that this season isn't that funny, but I feel that this still thrives on storytelling if not laughs. Plus, the show is still more original than most comedies. I enjoyed myself a lot.

Bad and getting worse. Lost me mid way through season one.

Only ever liked the Janet character.

Glad it is gone! Seems the network finally agreed with me!!!

Last season maintains the flawless level of the other three, getting back to basics, with the flawless performances of Kristen Bell and Ted Danson.
The awards have an obligation to recognize this series as it has been snubbed in the last three years.

The fourth and final season of The Good Place arguably tries to fit a little too much into into it’s final few episodes, but as a whole it maintains the shows high standard and provides a suitably emotional conclusion.

this is their best season which bravely seeks to answer the question of eternity and whether it can be as great as its hocked up to be. its funnier, sharper and more intelligent.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Wow. This season of The Good Place might have just slotted itself as one of my fave TV seasons ever. The show has always been good but this season is, in my opinion, perfect. It is so wholesome and, I say this with no hesitation, it will actually impact my life. This is the ultimate value of great art - it leaves an impression on the viewer.

I've gotta say that the final episode is a real tear-jerker though, it's always sad to finish a show and this really amps up this emotion as I see my fave characters leave one by one. Some people might say its silly to get that emotionally invested but that is what art is for imo.

It is just really fantastic and I'm so glad that this shows exists. Major props must go to everyone involved - they've made something really special.

About as good as an ending you can have for network tv comedy show. What a great show and across the board the cast and crew did a wonderful job!

A smart ending to a show that doesn't overstay it's welcome.
One of the more original comedies of the 2010's.

The final season of 'The Good Place' is slowed down, but it goes out with.a bang! The finale episode was absolutely amazing. It felt like it gave justice to the characters, and it also asked some very interesting questions to the audience. It was very emotional and for sure one of the biggest goodbyes to such a wonderful cast and characters.

Season 4 keeps the twists coming and jokes flying, patching over some foundation blocks in the first couple of episodes before coming together for what looks like one last crazy adventure to hell– er, to The Bad Place and back.
