I loved the first two seasons. Barry's (Middle kid) antics are still some of the most hilarious on TV right now. Alas the show's becoming a bit stale (tbh Barry's jokes/freak-outs/antics are mostly the same too but it's probably the hilarious actor that the lack of new material doesn't bother me with his character).
The reasons why I'm starting to lose interest in this show:

The reasons why I'm starting to lose interest in this show:
1. Premise is basically always the same: There's always some quarrel between the family members (usually two per show like Mom vs Daughter & Big vs Little Brother etc). They insult each other, hurt the others feelings by acting like they don't care (or care too much like the (s)mother) but in the end there's always an eye opening experience for the characters showing them that they were out of line and every episode ends with some cheesy big "I learned from my mistake" gesture.
2. But even so - There's still been absolutely no character growth whatsoever for the last 3 seasons (at least if you don't count Adam entering puberty). Obviously those lessons learned after each episode only last for one week: The Mom is still overbearing and pushy always wanting to hug and schmooze her nearly adult kids and meddling into their lifes, the Dad's still the same lazy chairpotatoe always calling his kids morons, Erica's still the mean oldest sister, Barry still the same class clown and Adam still the annoying little nerd (whose girlfriend is so far out of his league, looking three years older than him which makes it one of the most unrealistic "relationships" on TV atm) - Anyway, no real change whatsoever within 3 years.
3. It's natural to lose interest when there's no real progress in a show and the characters don't develop at all despite a Happy "Leason learned" End every weeks.
Don't get me wrong I still like the show. As 80's kid myself I love the references and trips down memory lane. Most of the jokes are still hilarious but the lack of character growth and week per week the exactly same style of telling a story is starting to get kind of old.… Expand
