    For those that watched the previous season of The Girlfriend Experience, better get joyful because the latest installment of this season is better and steamier than the first! When it comes to the first season of the miniseries, this show focused on Christine Reade (Riley Keough.) And now that this season has two separate stories, it goes deeper than you expect. There is a story involvingFor those that watched the previous season of The Girlfriend Experience, better get joyful because the latest installment of this season is better and steamier than the first! When it comes to the first season of the miniseries, this show focused on Christine Reade (Riley Keough.) And now that this season has two separate stories, it goes deeper than you expect. There is a story involving the political backdrop and espionage of the 2016 Republican PAC election starring Erica and Anna in Washington DC (Anna Friel and Louisa Krause), and a story involving a former high-end escort trying to regain her old self back while being enrolled and stuck with her estranged stepdaughter at a witness protection program starring Bria Jones in New Mexico (Carmen Ejogo.) These two stories are blended separately into one season with a total of 14 episodes and it’s just fascinating experiencing it especially when it comes to the dazzling cinematography, effective direction, outstanding performances, and teleplay. There is no doubt that the creators of this show are always going to looking for ways to pleasure the audience members by delivering a high end story that is relevant to modern day satire and it’s pretty damn amazing to binge onto! (Better hope that it gets renewed for season three and winning bigger awards/nominations at the Emmy's or Golden Globes it deserves.)… Expand

    Technically it's all shot well, they've created an atmosphere of sparseness, almost emptiness in look and feel, but there is too much simulated sex and not enough plot-line. It's well acted, with no weak performances at all, but the story is just soooo pedestrian. No slow burn, no rabbit to be pulled out of a hat anytime soon.

    It's not good. Season 1 felt like an actual show. The first few episodes of Season 2 feel like poorly written softcore porn. I didn't make it to the second half of the season, so maybe it picks up, but it just hasn't been entertaining enough so far to bother finding out.

    The two halves have wildly different strengths. “Bria” is cinematically stunning, with a few sequences that are going to be hard to forget anytime soon. “Erica & Anna” is a much more straightforward story, with a chilly aesthetic that makes “House of Cards” look upbeat. But the relative opacity of “Bria’s” story beats — and the oddly pat metaphors of “Erica & Anna”--left me with the wish that these two well-matched directors might, you know, collaborate.

    What’s gratifying about this spotty and sometimes surreal Season 2 is that it’s clear the show’s creators want to push the boundaries of what they can do.
