As I huge lover of the film I was so nervous of a come back but it is beautiful The film spotlights the right to work, friendship, caring responsibilities, suicide and the consequences of a govt abandoning the very people it should represent.As I huge lover of the film I was so nervous of a come back but it is beautiful The film spotlights the right to work, friendship, caring responsibilities, suicide and the consequences of a govt abandoning the very people it should represent. The series does all that and so much more. It's darker than the film but then Britain is sadder in a post Boris, post Brexit, post Covid world. I think the stand out theme for me is elderly poverty. Something that perhaps other more right wing nations (Americans - sorry guys!) might not resonate with like us because these issues were not a norm here until recently. And there is still hope of turning back this terrible tide. It's not for me to say if this represents The North but it 100% represents my British fears and does both tenderly & intelligently… Expand
