His vulnerability is well portrayed. The whole production feels very authentic though the sharp eye will see the grey stone of Ulster not the red stone of London. Believability does suffer from woke color-blind casting but not fatally so. As well as the settings, costume and peeling paint austere backgrounds we get quite excellent use of musical atmosphere. Season 2 though still excellent on the production side, slides off track into excess moroseness and a meandering listless story. Pity 8 for S1 3 for S3 Expand

First season has a dark and gritty foreboding ambience which is only enhanced by Sean Bean’s performance, which is the driving force of this series and helps make this in eerie, intriguing, cozy thriller/drama.
