While Season 1 of the Frankenstein Chronicles intrigued me, I'm finding a growing impatience with the story in Season 2. It just feels like an endless loop. Someone is murdered, and John Marlow puts his hands on the body and gets all bloody. He is seen and blamed. Again, and again, and again. OK, that's an exaggeration. Sometimes he is blamed without being near the body. The plotWhile Season 1 of the Frankenstein Chronicles intrigued me, I'm finding a growing impatience with the story in Season 2. I find myself wanting to skim the show as I would a book that is moving to slowly.

The acting is fantastic; the sets, costumes, and action are great. The overall story could be fantastic, but it seems as though it is being drawn out overly long.

The first season was great because it remained mostly as a murder mystery based in reality with a little bit of "science fiction" thrown in to make it intriguing. The plot feels stretched out for the sake of extra episodes and overall the whole thing just kinda loses its charm. I would have preferred it left things more ambiguous and stuck more to historical fiction than fantasy. In the end, I highly recommend watching the first season but I'd likely recommend skipping the second so as not to spoil the first. Expand

I unfortunately have to rate this season lower than the first(7/10). It starts off very strong, picking up from last season with an intriguing premise and a good reason to see how the plot will resolve itself, however, as with the first season, the show suffers from some pacing problems that can lead to viewer fatigue or boredom. Honestly, by the last episode, I had checked out. It wasn't a bad finale, it's just wasn't the crescendo I was hoping for. As with last season, it's very well scripted and acted, but you may find your interest waning by the end. I'm uncertain if there will be another season, but if there is, given how this season turned out and the fact that BBC shows take notoriously long to produce, I can't see myself coming back to this in earnest as I did for the second season.
