    I have been looking for this show for a while now and the first episode was awesome i see a good future for the flash and would love to see a crossover episode between arrow and the flash where both of their cases intersect each others.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. An awesome show for all the D.C. superhero fans out there. This show brings to life the iconic Flash and all his iconic villains. It's more family friendly and funnier than Arrow, and more amazing with the special effects. This show even portrays the Flash's villains as normal humans before they became villains. For Example, Caitlin Snow will soon become Killer Frost, Dr. Harrison Wells and Eddie Thawne will become Professor Zoom, Cisco Ramon might become Vibe, etc. This show gives you foreshadowing of iconic events and characters from the comic books that will be brought to life on the small screen. A must see for all those superhero nerds.… Expand

    Ok I'll give it a ten.I'v seen Plot and i like it,yes they can improve it but they will have time and i hope they do it.They dont have ugly Sgi and and the storyline is nice thro i dont know the storyline from comics.I think it deserves a ten and hope they will come with lots of episodes more better than plot.

    I'm either a 0 or a 10 kind of critic. Will I watch it again, or not? And yes, I really enjoyed The Flash. I'm confident that I will continue to enjoy it.

    A Great and awesome show that everyone will love. Sure it has its cheesy moments but the action is wonderful!!! The story telling will make you keep watching every week.

    I look forward to watching this show every week. Growing up and reading these comics was fun and now I am enjoying seeing them come to live action. Awesome stuff

    How do I describe such a well made, well driven show that originally came to us as a spin-off and created much more divirsity than most shows today. I write my review on the "Grodd Lives" episode just to have an understanding and the series has much potential. What a great show.

    Excellent first season, effects were surprisingly good for the first season (most of the time) the show embraces it's comic book origins without turning people off, very well done!

    Season 1 was phenomenal! I loved how we learned more about the character in every episode! "The Flash" had tons of action, comedy and romantic moments. I loved the Green Arrow cameos as well! Super excited for season 2!

    The flash is a wonderful comic book television adaptation. Ripped straight from the comics, the Flash is easily one of the most compelling shows out there. It is also the best comic book show on Tv.

    Love the characters- actors are perfect, I love the plot, the way each version of the flash has been easter egged in a way. Not to mention all the little easter eggs involving other villains and heroes. The cross overs with the arrow are a delight, and after every episode I want more!

    Season 1. I don't know how anyone can give this show a bad review. It's nearly perfect. I said nearly. The CW suffers from too many episodes per year. The 23 episode a year season is getting antiquated. Despite that, this season had edge of your seat action, truly celebrated a super hero in the way that Richard Donner portrayed Superman in Superman and his directors cut, Superman II and ISeason 1. I don't know how anyone can give this show a bad review. It's nearly perfect. I said nearly. The CW suffers from too many episodes per year. The 23 episode a year season is getting antiquated.     The Flash is probably the best show that I've ever watched and is a masterpiece showing the complex life of a superhero. The audience will get to see Barry Allen dealing with life's challenges along with the hard life of a crimefighting speedster.

    To date its the most Ive had watching a tv show which I usually don't watch but at the end of the season I just wanted more it is just freaking awesome and cool. I give it a 10/10

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Flash made an excellent take off with Season 1, which is what made it so popular. The show had a lot to live for since the two best seasons of Arrow came just before it. And it managed to completely nailed it. I was really excited to just see the fourth most popular DC superhero just doing something in live action. Sure the plot was repetitive in the beginning (Barry training and then using his training to defeat supervillains) but in the end it all pays out when it is revealed that Harrison Wells was in fact Eobard Thawne (Reverse Flash) and was making Barry faster so that he could make him go back to the past and get himself out of the time paradox he accidentally created. Having a crossover episode with the Flash fighting Green Arrow was a fan favourite moment which makes this show so much more exciting. Overall the season had everything we ever wanted to see.… Expand

    What I really like is how the Flash character was recreated for our time; yes the Flash is still white, but the person who adopted him is Black and so is the girl he has a crush on. The smart guy is Latino. I would say that that is the way TV shows and movies should be.

    As for the content, I was a huge fan when I was a kid, and this show unlike the movies from the 90s, did not disappoint.

    This is an excellent show. There has been some ups and downs with certain episodes, but overall the quality of the show is excellent. Very entertaining. Always tune in every week without fail.

    I was hoping for something like the 2014 Marvel superhero movies, more upbeat, less Dark Knight, so this worked for me. The Metacritic review summary is very educational about the writerly challenges this show is taking on with a "goody two shoes" hero. If someone asks me why I love superheroes, I’ll let them watch this show because The Flash has everything I love in a superhero movie or a TV show. It’s fun. It’s straight out from the comic books. It’s emotional. All of those three things wrapped into one show.

    Sure, the show does have some of the cliched superhero tropes like the “I can’t tell I am a superhero to my love interest” trope. But it doesn’t matter, The Flash is a superhero TV show done right.

    As this show airs on a network that sells its stars with looks over acting, this show had some really great performances that their looks don’t matter. As the season progressed, Grant Gustin became Barry Allen. He sold it as the lovable nerdy superhero that everyone loves including myself. Tom Cavanagh did an excellent job as Harrison Wells/Eobard Thawne, a helpful yet manipulative villain. Jesse L. Martin is the best actor in the show as he plays Joe West, Barry Allen’s adoptive son. His acting has basically elevated everyone’s acting when he is in a scene, even those actors are really good at acting without him. Honorable mention goes to Carlos Valdes who plays Cisco, the audience surrogate of the show. There is one episode in which Cisco finds out Harrison Wells is the bad guy all along and it’s not actually Wells but a man from the future named Eobard Thawne who despises The Flash. Knowing Cisco is going to die and cries, Thawne kills him. It’s really hard not to cry with him during that scene and thank God that thing didn’t happen at all.

    The concept of the show is not only some guy who can run fast than an average human being. The concept includes time travel in which seems a very hard thing to execute. But, they did the time travel concept excellently and mind-blowing that because of this, The Flash has proven himself to the mainstream audience that he is DC’s most important superhero as he has the power to change time and events.

    The humor in this show has also made this show worth remembering. The funniest character in the show is Cisco. He is The Flash’s Felicity as they share the nerdy humor, charm and awkwardness to their team. The close second is surprisingly Joe West and that makes him even more likable. There is one scene in where he talks to Barry about how his adoptive son has feelings for his real daughter Iris, yet Iris is in love with another man who is a co-worker for Joe named Edward and handles this fact with laughter, much to Barry’s embarrassment. That is one of my favorite scenes from the show.

    The Flash is a perfect example of why I love superheroes and it’s a superhero TV show done right with it’s great cast performances, excellent kick-ass concept and the unforgettable humor.    … Expand

    Wonderful show for all ages if you like superhero's you can't help but to like this show. The parts are well developed and the show has a solid plot. This show is fine for the whole family something that is missing due to the content of many of today's TV shows.

YES I am a fan of the Flash, and have been since the 70s (comic books not TV :)) At 1st I was a little stress over Grant Gustin playing such an Iconic like Barry Allan aka THE FLASH! But I have been very happy with the way he plays THE FLASH (

    It starts out a little rough, like practically every TV show ever, but after the first few episodes, the show becomes truly great. It has fun action, great characters, well done visuals, some gripping conflicts, and a surprising amount of dramatic heft. This is show for everyone.

    I love the flash !!! He is cool, super nice and have a cool story. The Flash vs The Reverse Flash. THAT IS AWSOME !!! I like that Arrow find in it. It is better if YOU watch Arrow, too. It is verry cool, too and The Flash binds with the TV show Arrow. I must say that the beginning was a little bit boring. BUT afterwards is that really exciting.

The tone is light hearted and the plot is usually fast and easy to follow, with real drama and emotion sprinkled in regularly. It has a great cast of characters that nail their roles. The CGI and action sequences are fairly strong for a super hero show on a lesser network. Overall, I'd say TheThe Flash is definitely (in my humble opinion) the strongest of the CW's DC universe so far. The tone is light hearted and the plot is usually fast and easy to follow, with real drama and emotion sprinkled in regularly. It has a great cast of characters that nail their roles. The CGI and action sequences are fairly strong for a super hero show on a lesser network. Overall, I'd say The Flash embodies the best of comic book's elements (campiness, bravado, bizarre, adventure, and thrills) and makes it's own unique and quirky niche in the DCU.     I didn't know much about The Flash before watching this show, but after going through the first and part of the second season, I can say I thoroughly enjoy it! Our whole family tunes in to watch the unfolding season arcs and to root for Barry as he and his delightful team fend off creative meta-humans each week. Sure, the weekly plots are often full of holes that my teenagers love to point out after (and during) each episode, and the dialogue can be cheesy and predictable. Still,Finally a superhero TV show I can watch with my children! Our whole family tunes in to watch the unfolding season arcs and to root for Barry as he and his delightful team fend off creative meta-humans each week. Sure, the weekly plots are often full of holes that my teenagers love to point out after (and during) each episode, and the dialogue can be cheesy and predictable. Still, there's something about the chemistry between the characters - their genuine love for each other and a certain sense of Joy about the entire storyline that keeps us tuning in season after season. As predictable as the weekly plot lines can be, the overarching season storyline is more cryptic and enjoyable to watch as it unfolds little by little throughout the episodes. There is a lot of great storytelling here as we cheer on Barry and friends in their fight against evil.… Expand

I didn't really like some of the villains, but I loved the big bad, Reverse-Flash. The special effects weren't groundbreaking but they surprising considering that this is a TV show and it's budget.     Is it perfext? No, but tust me its a greeta show any fan of superheroes will love it. For years, we have never had a good superhero. Arrow and Flash have permanentl changed that.

    If you love "Arrow", you'll love "The Flash". Same structure and style, although there are more jokes, CW have got it right again in terms of superhero shows. DC take note when you come to make your films. Recommended.

    I haven't seen much more than an episode, but I don't need to. This show has nailed a comic book tone and vision for TV format. I doubt I found my replacement to Buffy yet, but it's closer!

    The season is off to a great start so far, the special effects are really good for a TV show. I also love how very comic booky the show is and i can't wait for them to dive deeper into the DC universe.

    The Flash is very inconsistent with its episodes some are epic and some are dumb and cheesy, The best episodes are the ones dealing with doctor Wells and the characters relationships Doctor Wells is the most compelling character and now that the show has taken some crazy turns I expect it to get consistently good now.     The one thing I don't like is their "SMALLVILLE Meteor Storm-esque" origin for superpowers in the Flash/Arrow universe. I blame it on that one network suit in every meeting that says something stupid like "won't it confuse the viewers if we don't explain everything right away?"

    The first season of the Flash is a lighter affair than its counterpart Arrow, and this works very well. The episodes are consiatently impressive, the humour almost always works, the acting is impeccable, the villains are quite interesting and the dialogue strong. Overall a very solid Season 1 of the Flash that sets up well for Season 2.

    A spinoff from the memorable Arrow, The Flash sets forth to introduce us to a lighter version of the DC Universe. Although the plot may be lacking, often resorting to clichéd themes, the humour, action, crossovers and comic references are well worthwhile.

    All the characters had got into their stride, the acting seemed improved (which might have been due to there being a larger focus on stories related to each specific character, rather than a load of Flash scenes and ensemble scenes) and the CGI was breathtaking (with the possible exception of the gold gun and Grodd).

    The last episode in particular was a 10/10; quite simply one of the most amazing episodes of TV I have ever watched. Cavanagh's Eobard/Wells was a fantastic villain and I hope his history/future (whatever, It's ridiculously confusing) is expanded upon - I would hate to never know his whole story.

    Likeable plucky Flash, but he is no hero, no spoilers. I enjoyed the villains they were highly entertaining especially the main villain. The rest of the supporting cast did a really good job.

    This is definitely better than Arrow in every possible way. Not that that's saying much, seeing as Arrow is boring as crap. The only "great" superhero show right now IMHO is Gotham, and it technically doesn't even have any real superheroes. Still, The Flash is definitely worth a watch.

Unfortunately the show narrowly targets a young demographic audience, younger than the targeted audience for Smallville. So as an older viewer, I do not find the plots very interesting. All the characters have distinct personalities, the villains all have interesting abilities, and the main villain of the season, The Reverse Flash, is shown to be an extremely interesting and complex character as he is slowly developed throughout the season.     I definitely see that the effort is invested in the development of the series, during all episodes kind of action is present, acting could be better, the first few episodes is difficult to digest should get used to the series, I'm not disappointed simply is nothing more then watchable.But in any case, I recommend to watch for those who love the series with superheroes for them will be 10/10.

This show has one of the best storylines i have seen on TV in recent times (It actually reminded me both of Lost and X-Files). However, so many elements bring this show to its bleeding knees.
    1. Too many inconsistencies: Sometimes Flash is a superhero who can do crazy powerful things with his abilities, other times, he is a stupid wimp who can't think. Also, so many inconsistensies with the time travel stroyline (if Eobard was erased, why werent his actions erased, when Flash travelled back the first time there was still one flash, etc)

    2. Same old Routine/Predictability: The season was basically Flash fighting a Monster of the Week, losing, then regrouping and almost losing before he musters some strange force-of-willpower and defeats bad guy. There was never truly any fear that he was in any sort of danger.

    3. So many people randomly popping into places to complete sentences at just the right time. Using this once or twice when appropriate is fine and even sometimes could heighten suspense/mystique but this show overused and abused it thoroughly. Also, doesn't STAR labs have any sort of security. Seemed like people could just walk in without any hassle.

    Overall, it was hard ti take the show as seriously as I wanted to because at every turn, I felt like my cognitive capacities were being taken for granted by the writers. As they say, to whom a great story has been given, a greater show is expected. Certainly wasn't the case with these assclowns.    … Expand

It's nice that the show is setting up certain things like a Arrow/Flash crossover, potential villains, and some adaptation of "Crisis on Infinite Earths", but fans need more than teases at what's to come to stick with a show. The CGI could be better, though I like the Flash's slow-motion CGI sequences (ones that are similar to Quicksilver's slow-mo scene from X-Men: Days of Future Past). I think that a slow motion style would've looked better when adapting Flash's speed powers, than the red blur that the show relies on to show his abilities. "Team Flash" seems kind of cliché, and many of the characters feel cliché and weak, yet I believe that they'll become more developed with time. Austin Grant at first didn't seem capable of being main-character material, yet I'm warming up to him. (I also happen to not be the only one who thinks that he's very similar to Andrew Garfield and his iteration of Spider-Man.) One thing I really don't like is how the villains on the show are so simple, cliché, and underdeveloped. They're such stereotypes!

    Overall, there's plenty of room for improvement. The Flash has lots of flaws but it's still enjoyable, though it's mistakes keep it from reaching it's true potential.

    The Flash does have more than its share of emotional talks about what characters want, feel and have to do, but because most of the characters are young their passions are allowed to get the best of them. Barry Allen, aka The Flash, looks way too young to be apparently the only CSI for Central City, but once you force yourself to get past the in-world oddities, the show has a lot of potential.

    The characters are all sympathetic and none of them, about six episodes in, feel completely superfluous or needlessly annoying. Sure, the Flash's "gang" is excruciatingly forced, but again you have to get past the set-ups to get to the meat of the show. The central mystery is far more interesting than anticipated (but then I am biased towards time-travel related everything). The meta-human of the week (which is what the show calls those who received powers like the Flash) are mostly fleshed out enough despite the shortness of episodes. Every meta-human so far has gotten motivation and interesting powers.

    There is also the potential for real drama, mostly seen in Allen's conflict between his step-father and the daughter. While I hate the "I can't tell you because I have to keep you safe" nonsense, the demand for secrecy comes from the father, and there are actual threats so it doesn't feel as bad as other superheros' reasoning (coughspidermancough). This conflict, and its ties to the mystery, are what keep me coming back for more.

    While the "gang" needs more work on chemistry and the show needs better writing, The Flash has a lot going for it, and if the charming easy-going style can continue to be balanced with the emotional talks, I would like to see the Flash go up against some bigger foes.

    As a side-note: the effects aren't great, but if you're used to a lot of British tv like I am, you'll forgive them a lot, especially if you've just marathoned some Merlin or 2005-era Dr Who.    … Expand

    Not a great show but I'd enjoyed it.The flash has it's moments but sometimes it can get corny and cheesy yet I enjoy it. The show for me is generic in my opinion but it is great for the whole family to watch and I think the show is targeted to young children cause my little cousins love it.

The kind of honesty makes “The Flash” the opposite of Hot Topic. What more could one ask to achieve? I mean… it still has the emotional depth of overexcited fan fiction, but “The Flash” knows that it is creating a warm hearth of escapism, so it focuses on things it knows it can make you care about, like Barry’s relationship with his adopted family. It knows that everything else is silly and toothless, so the action stays upbeat and intentionally cartoony. It is a kid’s show, but it is a very well developed and thoughtfully paced kid’s show full of likable people and their little adventures. Maybe “Arrow” will take a hint from its little brother and stop trying to take itself seriously. Maybe it’ll just get angry and jealous, slam the bedroom door, and go back to playing “Assassin’s Creed”. Maybe “Super Girl” will make them both irrelevant. Maybe “The Flash” will find one of “Arrow”’s old pot brownies, freak out, and transfer to art school. We live in an amazing world.… Expand

    I changed my mind and lowered my score from 8 to 5, this series thrives on one off episodes and bad guys. The what little deepr story line there is, isn't all that great. It's very similar to smallville, simple and cheesy come to mind.

Not like in "superman serie", a build-up in power, where did he came from, ect. . I guess the flash is fast in everything, even in story telling.     Some strange reason I enjoy this.

    Its cheesy, predictable and the jokes in it are awful but I continue to watch the series. People who enjoy really serious series I advise don't watch this as its basically a children's show.

    In the end we all know the flash will eventually slam Iris and overcome his arch nemesis but may as well watch it anyway

    Watching this for the first time through Netflix streaming, while I've enjoyed the episodes, I am sick of Iris. The person who plays this character is an over-actor. I am sick of the way she breathes in and out really hard every time she sees the Flash. She gets that stupid smile on her face and acts all girly flirtatious. UGH. After 4 episodes, I'm quitting.

    I was excited to watch this show, it got great reviews and i've always been a fan of the flash comics. suffice to say i'm pretty disappointed. If i didn't know any better I'd swear this show was made for the Disney Channel. Just one cheesy line after another and with glaring plot holes so big you almost have to been in 5th grade to enjoy this show. At least we have Daredevil for us adults.

    Here comes the 3rd DC CW Show and its just as good as the rest and that isn't saying much. Much like Smallville this show features bad writing, and bad direction. The show has random glimmers of brightness in some competently directed action sequences but more often then not the writers make the Flash willfully stupid or use his powers in the dumbest way possible.

    Excuses for gaping plot holes and terrible plotting seems to be its just a "Comic book show" but this is a lazy explanation. For example our "heroes" are in some ways worse than the villains imprisoning people with no trial, no jury, in a 4x4 box with no apparent toilet, windows, or even an apparent way to eat. This is a massive plot hole that is never explained and completely ignored outside some minor mea culpa from a a barely named character that gets readily dismissed. Then we have the terrible romantic subplots, and corny dialogue, and we get a show that is made for tweens but is still too dumb even for them.    … Expand

    It's a sad indictment of television when any 'serial' becomes such a slave to bad CGI that there's not even any real attempt to make the show about the characters... But serves only as a means to move the main protagonists/antagonists from one big CGI mess to the next.

    There's no point in trying to explain what the show is about, in the same way you couldn't really explain the storylines in a comic-book serial either. Good guys do good things, bad guys do bad things. You aren't really given much backstory (beyond the bare minimum), and ultimately you are only watching for the spectacle.
    The acting is piss-poor, and although the female leads are all unfeasibly gorgeous they are so lacking in depth and emotion you might as well be watching a revolving billboard monotonously changing from one advert to another.
    I can understand why it's popular with the 'yoof' of today, there's explosions and action aplenty and it's popcorn television... But any superhero show can, and should, be more about the characters and their own motivations. The background story arc in a show should be the 'superhero' stuff, not the other way around.    … Expand

    Extremely boring and slow with a terrible cast. The first episode seemed interesting but by the third episode, I was done with the show. Not worth 1 hour of my time.

This superhero, like those before him, is not faithful to the original intent of the DC comic series. The writers ought to be ashamed of themselves and the cast has lowered their standards by emulating yet another soap opera with all of it's drama and bleeding heart personality quirks in true modern super hero style.     Absolute **** I don't know how anyone could like a show with such god-awful dialogue and cliched storytelling. Also, why do so many characters spill their life story within a few minutes of being introduced? It leaves no mystery whatsoever, and makes the show boring to watch. 2/10

    I like to watch at least half a season's worth of episodes before giving my opinion. I will admit that i found the first couple of episodes intriguing and fun but got concerned when i saw that this show was going to be a ''villain of the week'' format. In essence what we are being told here is that this explosion that gave Barry his powers also created a slough of other ''meta humans''I like to watch at least half a season's worth of episodes before giving my opinion.     What also bothers me is the general acceptance by all concerned that a major explosion occurred causing extreme destruction, not to mention its creation of super powered beings who, for some reason, all get a different power. Would have been more credible in my view to see the army, FBI, Homeland Security etc. get in there to calm things down and investigate what happened,
    Maybe I'm asking too much. It is a superhero show after all so i guess i should just kick back and let it

    Disappointing. Really wanted to like this but is squandered potential cashing in on a built in Superhero/Flash audience. Should probably be on Saturday mornings instead. Breaking the laws of physics one moment and get punched by a "normal speed" Meta-Human the next. Even a 10yo would be saying WTF? What ever happened to smart and clever writers? Superpowers are hard to write for and I am willing to suspend disbelief, but you gotta meet me half way at least. I love Jesse L. Martin and I know he must be throwing up in his mouth a little when delivering some of his lines. If they replace the entire writing staff, I might try season 2. Until then I'll be giving Arrow a try instead.

    I couldn't agree more with jakedubbleya's closing statement. I really used the value the metacritic score and it has served me well in the past. Having so many good reviews for this show will make me skeptical of any score here in the future. Sad.    … Expand

    The Flash sports a great cast, visually well-designed sets and effects, and the pace and atmosphere reflect the deft hands of directors and crew. But a superhero show can’t live on those elements alone.

    First, the series is completely on point with what the network is doing elsewhere (Arrow, etc.). Second, it's actually very well done. And third, it's wholly entertaining.
