I was so looking forward to this mini-series but cannot believe how bad it is. I could barely get through the first 2 hours without laughing at some of the putrid acting. The soap opera story lines are silly and contrived. The dialogue is written like the story took place in modern day. Not familiar with the book I thought this was going to be an exciting retelling of the Masada story.I was so looking forward to this mini-series but cannot believe how bad it is. I gave it a two because Sam and Cote are very good but other than that....oy! Expand

The mini series was disappointing and did not live up to the pre hype given it. A little bit to much sex for the story, maybe it happened but we didn't need to see and hear it every half hour... Kind of hard to get into the roles when they are cast as tramps and whores....anyway that's my story and I'm sticking to it.. Expand

I thought the series was outstanding. Cote was awesome. Those who criticize the historical accuracy... ought to stick to watching the History Channel! This was entertainment and I was entertained. The conclusion was moving as the reality of what really did happen at Masada hits home. Shalom!

[The Dovekeepers] is filled to the brim with chintzy special effects and subpar acting, plus the kind of Harlequin novel eroticism that went out of fashion long before Fabio stopped shilling for “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter.”

If Biblical-style fantasy is your bag, then its for you, but audiences who have feminist leanings will find the number of times the women are--as with too many Bible tales--called whores and prostitutes extremely grating.

A missed opportunity to deliver a compelling modern interpretation of the famous mass suicide.
