Last year, Mr Noah's first season on the show, I gave a so-so rating to the show with the comment that I'd give Mr Noah some time to make the show into what he wants it to be.

Well, it appears that has occurred. Jon Stewart's Daily Show was insightful news commentary and analysis told against a background of comedy. There was a lot of research and thought that went into the show.

Jon Stewart's Daily Show was insightful news commentary and analysis told against a background of comedy. There was a lot of research and thought that went into the show. The comedy was mostly the absurdity of was was being talked about.

Unfortunately, the Daily Show nowadays is little more than a comedy act that reads news headlines and goes off on short (15- to 30-second) comedy riffs based upon the headline.

The depth that Mr Stewart brought to the show has been lost.

The Daily Show has turned into any one of the many other comedy shows on Comedy Central, shows that are attuned to superficial stand-up comedy.

The comedy (if I can call it that) of the Daily Show is no longer the absurdity of the news, but failed attempts of the host trying to be funny.

I watch the Daily Show via my DVR, usually the following afternoon. I find myself fast-forwarding through major sections of the show because I'm not really a fan of second-rate stand-up comedy.

Unless there's a significant change for the better, I doubt I'll be watching the Daily Show come next year.

I've been waiting to leave a review for the new version of the Daily Show since Trevor was passed the reigns a year ago. I hoped in the first year that he would find his groove and hit a stride. Unfortunately, that doesn't look like it's going to happen. Trevor seems to have no opinions of his own and only parrots the same jokes seen on the 10 other late night shows. I wish he would try to be unique and do his own thing, like Jon Stewart, but it looks like he is doubling down on the "hur hur Drumpf" comedy that is so prevalent today and ignoring any issue that might show the corporate establishment or the DNC in bad light.
