The series is "inspired" by the book "The Minds of Billy Milligan.," but it takes radical departures from the REAL character, about whom there is considerable debate about whether he suffered from "Multiple Personality Disorder" now known as "Dissociative Identity Disorder" or was just a stone cold sociopath who likely murdered someone after fleeing the mental hospital in Oho.

Anyone who remembers "The Three Faces of Eve" movie or the "Sybil" miniseries - both remarkable stories of another case, will appreciate how seductive these stories can be.

A coming-of-age television miniseries - psychological thriller. It starts off as a fairly average teen-movie for teens - but, with an obvious twist. An early theme covered in several ways in the early episodes is bullies and bullying.

The casting, acting, directing, editing, etc are all good. The setting is the 1980's in a middle class American suburban neighborhood. The 1980's

The setting is the 1980's in a middle class American suburban neighborhood. The 1980's are my least favorite decade of all decades - but, that's just me.

I've only watched the first episode. It will be interesting to see how it develops.

I may need to come back and update my rating after I've watched all of the episodes.

So, episode 2 was completely different from episode 1. Its very good but in a completely different way.

The actors shine in their respective roles alongside a visually arresting backdrops of the period specific show but the storyline is a bit chaotic at times, and but it is purposeful and intentional at depicting the complexities the character is going through. I look forward to see where this show goes the first 4 episodes have me entranced !

Amazing series. I don't understand why critics are bad as I find it an amazing series with two amazing actors and a real deep dive into psychology. We were fascinated by the scenario and by the way John Holland did his interpretation.

ATTN: I'm being ultra generous by giving such a high rating to this absolutely disappointing show, but I admire the effort somehow. This is definitely the most ambitious project I've watched recently, typifying what it means to bite off more than you can chew. Tom Holland is no doubt an acceptable actor of his generation, but taking on such a challenging role is simply a huge mistake

This is definitely the most ambitious project I've watched recently, typifying what it means to bite off more than you can chew. Tom Holland is no doubt an acceptable actor of his generation, but taking on such a challenging role is simply a huge mistake on his account as this complex character requires a veteran performer with a diverse set of skills. On the other hand, the ludicrous production design incongruous with the era in question really put me off. One could probably ignore these flaws, but the most unforgivable aspect of the series was its awful writing. How can anyone (much less an experienced screenwriter) form such a shallow reading of a much-debated psychological condition?

Best TV series I've seen so far. When you mix a masterpiece like joker and the person of Tom Holland, you are doing fusion therapy and -spolier- It works!

Despite a sometimes self-sabotaging sense of its own mystery and occasionally glacial pacing, The Crowded Room’s slick ‘70s stylisation, timely themes, and a mercurial Tom Holland will certainly keep you watching.

By the end of the third episode, as the clues mount up, you will have an idea where the story is heading and then the show starts to feel dragged out, its intensity diluted. It’s serviceable, but it’s not the spiky thriller it could have been.

A couple of the performances here are pitched at a level that’s almost engaging. But wandering through vivid recreations of New York’s (gay) club scene on the cusp of New Wave, London stock footage exteriors and generic interiors becomes almost sleep inducing. There are NO STAKES IN “The Crowded Room.”
