MartinSMar 11, 2006After reading the strip for quite some time I was a bit shocked at the shows frankness. I'm a bit worried that the political observations will be overshadowed by the "N" word however black people everywhere will immediately recognize these characters. It seems Aaron is saying all the things he could never get away with in the Sunday funnies.

EdRJan 18, 2006A show that is about much more than just race and color, with undertones of moral lessons that may help us get through our daily lives. Aaron McGruder allows us to laugh at our own ignorance, showing us the stupidity in racism and testing us to be true to ourselves. If you think he is saying White people are bad, or Black people are stupid, you have missed the point.

IsaacCJan 11, 2006All I have to say is I'm going to watch this show as much as I can - Something this honest and entertaining won't last long.

GabrielL.Jan 9, 2006Severely crappy! Ranks with "The War at Home" as one of the most unfunny and unwatchable shows on TV. Like that other pile of worthlessness, it tries to be edgy, but has no good jokes, original observations, or likeable characters. If you want hilarious, line-crossing social satire, watch South Park, Chappelle, and old recordings of Bill Hicks stand-up.

AshleyNDec 14, 2005I've been reading The Boondocks in the newspaper every since i could remember. When my grandmother would get the paper, the boondocks would be the first thing i would read, I've also been trying to get Public Enemy, and the Right to be Hostile. Just had to say a lil comment, and one more thing, if they ever try to ban the boondocks, i will fight to try to keep it on. Wun get at me.

PaulR.Dec 3, 2005Subtle and shrewd. Hits its mark and makes me smile. We've had cartoons about blacks that either made them look super stereotyped (Proud Family) or super politically-correct (Static Shock) but this show actually gives us people we can relate with. Well done.

SnobNov 25, 2005Lame, almost embarrassingly so. Cartoon Network supposedly dumped a lot of cash into this turd. It's not very funny and it certainly isn't daring unless hearing the N word gives you a rise. Give me the comics anyday.

GnarlesNov 22, 2005Doesn't always work - and when it doesn't, it's near-terrible - but the show is worth watching for the times when it really catches fire. The look of the show is visually incredible as well, leagues ahead of the poorly-drawn muck that passes for cartoons these days. This show has great potential, but it's too early to see if it will be met.

brianlNov 16, 2005The show was refreshing. I felt that if you are aware of the social issues that are not talked about, then you will get the jokes. the african-american community as a whole should not be ashamed because alot of this show speaks the truth. the truth that the african-american community already knows.... Long live "THE BOONDOCKS"!

-
Animation has rarely felt so explosively, hilariously defiant.
-
An out-of-the-gate triumph.
-
"The Boondocks," with all its knowingly controversial observations and language, is a sort of animated equivalent of "All in the Family." It'll make you think, and maybe even wince - but at the same time, it makes you smile.
