Absolutely smashing! James Spader acts with his eyes. One forms an opinion at the beginning of each episode, only to have it turn on its head. The plot is well written, and the music and the background songs are great. I was wondering what after Breaking Bad...? I guess my question is answered.

Meh. It's another black ops type show. I am not done watching the 1st season and am kind of bored by some fairly obvious plot points? Also, the cinematography isn't so great. there are funny details which are not right, which to me seem really blatant. The digital effects are also poor. They stand out like effects from the early 2000's. The plot is alright, but requires some real suspension of disbelief. Best bet, read a book, skip the series.

I can suspend disbelief, but make it somewhat close to how real life would be, where not every next person is known, already pre-linked, and pre-fried.

Spader is simply brilliant. The series on a whole is very good, albeit there are some episodes which would have been improved by simply not airing. I feel 22 episodes is too many for a TV series. Why air so many, surely less is more?

Overall I would highly recommend this series, it is clever and fresh and with strong script and Spader is just too good not to watch this series.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Who are you kidding with this crap? I can practically SEE the checklist the 'writers' tick off for each episode. Aside from Spader, ever single episode is ABSOLUTELY GENERIC! They cram in a death now and then that has ZERO impact on the progression of the plot or even have a significant emotional toll on the characters just to feel 'dark', because apparently that's the 'feel' they've decided to go with now. For example, the bossman is almost strangled to death on the last episode of season one, and BAM next scene, the guy's already caught and being interrogated, and so far besides having a limp this doesn't have ANY impact on the character AT ALL. (btw, skipping through capturing or indictment scenes doesn't make it seem 'streamlined' or 'cutting off the fat'. There's supposed to be a flow to the story, and just skipping parts doesn't make the show 'efficient'.
Or what about the pandemic episode, with the LUDICROUSLY CONTRIVED SETUP, in which the bad guy who GASSES AND THEN SHOOTS THE GIRL just so the heroine could do her heroic thing. Well, it didn't swell up any emotions because THE GIRL HAD NO PRESENCE, AND THERE WAS NO CHEMISTRY BETWEEN HER AND KEEN AT ALL. In fact, did they even once talk to each other, other than the 'you screwed up and let the virus out' diatribe that was planted just for this event, just so that they could carry out this RIDICULOUSLY OVERDONE, CLICHE SCENE?
Everything else about the show is generic, generic boss, generic tough guy, generic nerd, generic heroine in distress. EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER is emotionally flat, even Spder's character and ESPECIALLY ELIZABETH. Her reaction to RED killing her father might well as been her reacting to him running over her mailbox. i mean, are you **** KIDDING ME? DO YOU PEOPLE HAVE A RIGHT TO CALL YOURSELF WRITERS? THROW THE **** CHECK LIST AWAY. THROW IT AWAY NOW.

Even Spader's not enough to save this joke of a show, and the fact that this show is getting any good reviews at all is very disheartening, to know that this, THIS is enough to keep the American viewer satisfied. ARE YOU **** DIMWITTED? And writers, HAVE YOU MADE ANY CREATIVE ATTEMPTS AT ALL FOR THIS SHOW? HOW ARE YOU NOT ASHAMED TO PUT YOUR NAMES ON THIS GARBAGE? HOW ARE YOU NOT ASHAMED?

The shock and aw of what he will do without hesitation - (shooting high ranking officials in their home when they consider themselves untouchable) is what lets this show break through the "ho hum glaze" of cop TV dramas and thrusts it right to the peak of its niche.

I love his cleaning lady too! Sure - It has its over-the-top "Hollywood" sequences that make you wish they hadn't gone there. But you must keep in mind, it is a fictional TV show with writers that have their limitations, as well.

Now if it is to last on "the throne", Boone HAS TO GO! We are SICK of her whinny baby attitude and that stupid husband that just won't die! PLEASE Kill him off and move on! Lizzy can stay ONLY IF THEY CAN RE-TUNE HER TO HANG WITH THE CALIBER OF ACTOR SHE IS SIDED WITH. Maybe do a car wreck or shooting injury that leaves her in a coma, and when she awakes, she can act?

If nothing else, the brilliant execution and total character immersion - so naturally, yet "deeply" mastered by Spader, is well worth the price of admission. He is the series. And love it or hate it - Everyone will agree to that fact.

I like the show. However, it is really hard to watch because half of each episode is filmed so the screen is so dark you can't see what's going on.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Blacklist is good, there's no denying in it. I had already watched the first season, I decided to start over and watch it more serious and attentively and it was almost as good as watching it for the first time.

The pilot delivers too much, the good thing is that the episodes have their 40 minutes or more. Red is a fantastic character, my favorite of the series so far and I think it will be until the end; Liz has her ups and downs, a few ups and a lot of downs that make the character very unsympathetic, she thinks she knows everything; Tom is an **** but sometimes I like him more than Elizabeth.

About the villain of this season that I believe to be Berlin: I found the way they ended this "arc" too peaceful. Seriously, he ripped off his hand to give up his long-awaited revenge because of money? C' mon

I think every series that has a case/crime per ep. has those that drive you really crazy wanting more and those that drive you kinda "OK tomorrow I'll see the next one". The fact that every case is interconnected and has a bigger thing happening behind them all makes it so much better. Very good.
