The first episode of Territory is a bit cluttered with characters and stories, but the sweeping vistas of the Northern Territories, backed by good performances by Torv, Taylor and Dorman make the show very watchable.

In Territory, injections of explosive action enliven all that bickering and jostling; before you know it, Torv is jumping into a helicopter in order to break up a gunfight. And it works surprisingly well.

The cattle in Territory may not have a lot of genetic diversity — it’s a plot point! — and the hats may look a bit worn around the edges. But whatever you’re looking for, this series has a lot of it.
