This is one of those shows that will make you think a certain person is the villain and then the next episode clues point to another person. I don't know how many seasons the show's producers feel that can milk the missing kid plot because normally after one season most of the viewing public says 'enough already' and moves on to another program.

I wish there were more TV series like this--fully developed characters, intelligent, and gripping. Kyra Sedgewick is masterful, as always, as a highly successful woman burning the candle at both ends to maintain her success and her relationship with her daughter. She priortizes work and the relationship with her daughter and all other aspects of her life are strained at best. Really wanted to like this show. Was hoping for a great “whodunnit”. The plot got so twisted so quickly that I stopped caring about the protagonist or if the kidnapping could be solved in a reasonable time frame. Just didn’t care to watch or find out what came next.

Ten Days in the Valley is nothing special. It's your regular ABC mystery drama. They have been so many by now that the show is instantly forgettable.

As the self-destructive and recklessly impulsive Jane, the electrifying Kyra Sedwick is far from an everyday heroine. ... The tone is closer to propulsive pulp melodrama. [16-29 Oct 2017, p.14]

The story here is sloppy and underdeveloped, and no matter how much Sedgwick tries, she can’t make the viewer care about the fate of a kid that her character doesn’t seem all that invested in rescuing.

As Ten Days in the Valley plays coy with the truth behind Jane and anyone she’s ever interacted with, there’s a sense of withholding information that feels like the show taking the audience hostage, too. Even so, it might not have been a problem with a little more focus to the plan.
