This show, in the tradition of SUPER TROOPERS and BEERFEST before it, is a highly enjoyable, easy going "hang out" comedy. It's a crime that Heffernan and Lemme are not already household names, but TFD should go a long way in furthering that goal.

The first episode of Tacoma FD is terribly unfunny, and hardly attempts to give viewers the sense that the show even takes place in the Pacific Northwest. I'll admit that, as someone that has previously lived in Tacoma, Washington, it was the supposed setting of this show that initially piqued my interest. Why even make a show called "Tacoma FD" if Tacoma, Washington State, and the entire Pacific Northwest Region are not included visually, thematically, or otherwise. This show should have been called "The Worlds Most Unrealistic Los Angeles FD" instead, at least that would have been a descriptively accurate title.

There’s a lackadaisical appeal to the whole thing. Its ramshackle pacing and generic riffs on dude-bro mentality manage to emit a shaggy-dog charm, largely on the basis of its likable cast and their easy chemistry.

Tacoma FD needs more than a spark to get going. It needs a tanker full of gasoline and a convenient bolt of lightning.
