Season 5 was brutally bad and the good thing is that the show is ending soon.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Supergirl_ season 4- episode 14 The story of this episode had some shoking points. All of the characters had some failures and victories.Ben Lockwood is a person who tries to pass his act. During the story, Ben deals with Epiphany when he suddenly understands he can't win against Alliens.Ben Lockwood is in conflict with two things: 1. against Manchester 2. against Alliens. Green Martian is influenced by Manchester. Finally, he succeeds to change Martian's behavior. This is the process that we can define as social psychology. It means that people are influenced by actions and etc. Kara is affected by this process, too. finally, Brainy's advise affects her and she decides to march with other alliens. we can consider the protest between alliens and humans as the climax of the episode.During the story,James Olsen is a kind of surreptitious character who shocks the audience. The end of the story is unhappy. We can describe the term suspense in this episode, too. Suspense is a process in English literature that provokes these questions:"why does this character do this thing?" or "what's going to happen next in the story?". So the question is that "why James is shot" or "what is going to happen after his death". The characters such as Haley do not have a lot of eminent traits to discuss in the story. So we can call these characters as a Flat character. Expand

Queerbait. Main character sidelined. Unnecessary cameos. Homophobia. Plot makes no sense for most of the seasons. Not even Supercorp's chemistry can make it worth the cringe.

It also focused too much on polotical messaging rather than sotryplot and morals which it what make hero stories that fun...This show comes across as racist and bigotry towards gender to most people.
The saving grace is as mentioned above Melissa Benoist, but she deserves a better writer for the character because her title character even fails with inconsistencies to her overall arc.
Overall, CW's Supergirl had such a promising start but progresses to become a childish,one-side political message not intended for target audiences.

How this show managed to drag it's way through more than one season on sub-par dialogue and mediocre acting skills is truly a conundrum.

A terrible series. Supergirl is and remains one of the weakest superhero series.
The main character is just annoying. She always says that you shouldn't do that and should do so. I understand the criticism. It's also so boring. The gray mouse has been taken too seriously.
The supporting roles are all poorly or moderately cast. They come across as gap fillers that you just need.
The only good thing is the action scenes. Only these are rare. 2/3 of each episode is only talked and talked about. The dialogues are mostly not even useful for the story. As if you wanted to drag the length of the episodes in order not to have to use too many CGI effects.

The show is even more politically one-sided, and some of the writing is cringeworthy. However, it delivers on some big moments, and the characters grow on the audience well.

[6.5] Lacks sophistication and darkness

Supergirl is a good show... for teens.

As a fan, I won't be questioning the choice for the lead actress and the series cast. They do a pretty good job for a 'PG' show. What has been chosen and done is done. Point. What I am questioning and concerned about are the somehow weak and cheesy script, storylines and plots topped with kindergarten acting.

IMO, the series has so much more potential and could be boosted a lot more, if the writers sail it to more dark territories, adding real seriousness, more interesting and sophisticated storylines and turn of events.

e.g. The Supergirl arctic Krypton lair on Earth has to be well hidden, accessible only to the Kryptoneans and impossible to break through and enter, even if, in an improbable twist, some enemies make it there and to its entrance. The probability of getting in should be near-nil! For now, it's like a playground, two blocks away, where anyone who gets bored or has some devious plan make a visit to.

Dear writers, make the events more frightening and awe-inducing, make the battles more powerful, shocking and bloody and make the CGI more glossy, more realistic (all parts of it), tremoring viewers' guts so they couldn't detach their eyes from the screen.

All the actors can do a better job, give their best from within, convey more emotions and seriousness. I repeat, it is not some playground, in which, to interact artificially and happily with each other.

For whatever number of seasons and episodes which are left, please make some real changes for the better or forever have a place in the museum of 'Looney Tunes' characters.

Cuesta engancharse, luego te vas "encariñando" con los personajes aún así se hace pesado continuar con la serie. Solo la empecé y continué por lo crossovers y referencias.

I may actually only keep watching for Crisis crossover.

I don't recommend starting watching it if you haven't already.

Or at least that is what I think after I finished watching the first season. In the first episode itself Kara escaped from Krypton, got separated, got stuck in the Phanton Zone, came out of it, got saved by Superman, met a new family, discovered her powers, revealed it to her friend, met Jimmy Olsen, fought a Kryptonian, revealed herself to the press, saved an airplane and got engaged with the DEO. All of this could have easily been expanded to 10 episodes.

And that was what should have happened, since most of the other episodes just felt like a waste of time. The cinematography, dialogues and acting are so laughable. Most of the time the fights always go like - "Please, stop! You don't want to do this..." "You know nothing about me!". Everyone is so ignorant. All the conflict simply comes because people are keeping secrets with each other. General Lane doesn't trust Martian Manhunter just because he's an alien, although they can trust Kara for the same reason.

Trust me, the only reason why I'm watching Supergirl is so that I can watch The Flash season 3. If it weren't for that I'd have never touched this muck in the first place.

It's not lower than a 5 just because of some of the cast. It's a badly written show following a free fall of quality episode by episode( just like almost every other DC-CW show).
