This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was very excited for this season of Supergirl, and I did like it. Well, some of it. Alex exploring her sexuality was great. I love Alex and Maggie's relationship, but it was forced to the side my Mon-El and Kara's. The white, straight couple would get twice the amount of airtime as Sanvers, a very healthy relationship. Speaking of healthy, or rather unhealthy, is Mon-El and Kara's relationship. Mon-El is a slave owner. He left a woman that he had been sleeping with all alone, as she called out his name. He yelled at Kara, lied to her. Meanwhile, we have chemistry between Kara and Lena. Yes, I know that we already have a w/w relationship on the tv show, but why couldn't there be more? I understand that Karamel was a big deal because they are a Daxamite and a Kryptonion, but there would be a similar dynamic between a Luthor and a Super. We had been queer baited a lot during this season, and I'm not sure I want to watch the next one. Expand

Hmm... upon seeing the end of s02e19, it struck me: police brutality, vigilante justice, secret black site prisons, indefinite detention, torture, people 'disappeared', a complete absence of habeas corpus and anything resembling due process - and this from the 'good guys'. So along with its complete failure to entertain me, it is also a moral failure bizarrely masquerading as a shining beacon.

When Batman and Punisher are 'bad', at least you know what you are seeing - lone thugs run amuck, and the extreme honesty of the newer versions make them that much better. But this Supergirl, it's basically fascist, and exactly like the fascists in real life, it has the same sanctimonious tone - beating the drums of 'moral virtue' while peddling total evil.

Dishonest art is bad art... that is the essence of this show's failing.

This show really pains me because I loved the Supergirl movie, which is why I kept trying to get something from this series. Smallville at least had some heart. But this new wave (Arrow, Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl) is hopeless.

And for a self-declared feminist show, why are the female characters so weak? They keep introducing strong male characters for them to lean on and take orders from. Alura may have been the show's best character: an actual strong female character (and even that they watered down by having her husband running things), morally ambiguous and unpredictable (i.e. not one dimensional)... but they couldn't have that now could they? And am I the only one that cringes every time I hear that Kara's purpose in life was apparently just to take care of her male cousin? How are they not embarrassed to have that in the opening every episode?

I was excited to view this show as I have enjoyed Supergirl in the comic books, and was hoping that the show would be about Supergirl. Stick with Supergirl's issues and battles and quit trying to make statements about gay or racist issues. Expand

I lost interest about 2/3 through the first season, but my interest was renewed when I learned the show was moving to the CW. The season opener felt far warmer and fun than the rather sterile first season. It wasn't amazing, but it was good and I enjoyed it. I hope it remains on an upward trajectory. I surprisingly enjoyed Tyler Hoechin as Superman and thought he worked really well beside Benoit.

I found the first season of this show to be utterly unwatchable.

Since it has since become part of the Arrowverse on The CW, I decided to give the season 2 premiere a shot. There's definitely more heart here, with the comic book pages coming to life through great special effects and iconic poses. Agreed, it's still rather cheesy and cliché at times, but with the DC television series

Improving its already impressive cast with solid new additions, Season 2 of Supergirl is more timely, confident outing for the titular superheroine and a step up for the Arrowverse.

I admit when "Supergirl" debuted last season I was very critical of the show for its writing and acting. But as the series went on I was more and more impressed with both. The second season started out (using a baseball metaphor) by knocking it out of the park. The show has opened the door for a number of sub plots and also it was great seeing Superman along side his cousin.

Great show. This really takes you to where we were all wishing to be in season 1. With Superman at her side Supergirl has a lot more going for her and her character is getting better and better.

Do I need to explain? No constancy in the storytelling, complete disregard for character development and the most glaring problem is the slave-owning, abusive man-child that Kara shacks up with.

The 1st season was a great family show! The 2nd season has devolved into a political platform for the liberal left. We will not be watching until i hear that things are different. On the other hand, Arrow, Flash and Legends are top notch. No real-world politics and not a whole lot of sexual stuff.

I tried watching season 1 of Supergirl and could not watch more than 3 episodes. However, I decided to give the second season a chance and was pleasantly surprised to see how much it had improved. The chemistry among the cast is better and the addition of new characters such as Mon-el (played by Chris Wood), M'gann and Maggie have greatly improved the quality of the show.

After a ok to good to even very good parts in season 1, The Girl of Steel returns for season 2 on the CW. How does it fare? Mostly good. I can't say for certain what it is that makes this season a liitle worse than the first one (maybe the fact that Calista Flockhart is only in a few episodes) but in general the show maintains an ok to good balance most season. Good points for the season: finally the introduction of superman on screen, with the excellent casting of Tyler Hoechlin, i can definetly say finally a version of superman that actually reminds me of the comics; the introduction to Miss Martian, a great character from other media that is done mostly justice in this show; the great character development for Alex, and all around good acting from the cast (special shout to Melissa Benoist who really has become Supergirl) Bad points: lackluster main villians, forced conclusion in the season finale, Guardian (Seriously, not a good idea), and did I mention almost no Cat Grant.
All in all, maybe not the greatest follow up to the first season, but in general good enough to keep me entertained and eager to see if the CW can improve on the second season handling this series. Lets hope that the girl of steel can fly much higher next season, but as of now, still a solid show that is recommended for fans of the comics, or just enjoys the type of dramatic action shows that the CW produces. If superheroes is not your schtick, give it a pass.

Supergirl throws the house out the window at her end of the season. The two season finale we've seen so far from Supergirl have touched on the same theme: how Kara is capable of sacrificing herself for saving not only the people she wants, but the whole world. The second season of Supergirl has enhanced the superheroic and action side more than the workplace comedy and romantic comedy tones she had at the beginning. In general, it has worked, although as with all The CW series, the middle section of the delivery has suffered a bit and has only been saved by the way in which Alex's closet was counted. Expand

The only achievement of Season 2 is that it is better than Season 1. That is only because they are able to bring in more lore into it. Finally Superman makes an appearance over here. Speaking of racism, it seems that is what the theme of the season is. There are multiple alien species who have come up and started living on this planet. The previous Hank Henshaw has become Cyborg Superman (don't get excited, he's nothing like the one from The Death and Return of Superman). We also get to see Mr Mxyzptlk, whose role here is only to simp behind Supergirl. Also we have the Daxamites as the bad guys over here, who are at least more competent than the house of Els. The season is, once again, very boring and makes Kryptonians look like a bunch of wimps, but like I said, it's at least better than Season 1. Expand

Hoechlin nails the bespectacled, gawky side of Clark Kent, and if he doesn’t seem quite as intense as other on-screen Supermen, the Teen Wolf alum hits the right, big-brotherly vibe with Benoist. Still, more doesn’t always mean merrier: The second season premiere fails to take flight in its clunky introductions of new villains (look, a new Luthor — sort of!) and explosive-but-tiresome action sequences. ... Instead, the hour shines most when it focuses on Kara’s struggle.

With season 2, it really feels as if Supergirl--unburdened by whatever behind-the-scenes decisions kept the show from embracing the Superman of it all--just discovered an entirely new sandbox to play around in, one that opens the doors to seemingly endless story possibilities for both the Girl of Steel and the Arrowverse as a whole.
