Like the last season, this show is just okay.

To it's credit, it is somewhat better. Instead of main character Kaz (Christopher Sean) just hanging around the station, actual stuff happens. To it's credit, it is somewhat better. Instead of main character Kaz (Christopher Sean) just hanging around the station, actual stuff happens. Now that everyone's directly under the threat of the First Order, they're on a mission to survive which produces more interesting material. We get to visit multiple places and more out of several of the characters, especially the station's main pilots.

However, unlike Star Wars Rebels which started out a little basic in the first season and then kicked things up in the second season, Resistence is content to be just a basic kids show. The episodes are mostly just decent. The big plot point from the last season finale isn't as interesting as you'd think it would be. The final episode of the show is also just okay lacking the large sense of conclusion that Rebels had. Also, you'd think they'd do an episode about Kaz's difficult father. This plot point was set up at the very beginning but nothing happens from it.

The kids will still like this. There's nothing really downright bad about any of this, but it isn't crucial material for Star Wars fans either.

Like the first season it is starting slower and finishes stronger. Luckily the start is nowhere near as painful and annoying as in season 1. What prevents a higher rating is the repetitive storytelling, lack or not enough of character development with a few exceptions and lack of must see episodes (details see below). The story continues shortly after the events of the last season. TheLike the first season it is starting slower and finishes stronger. Luckily the start is nowhere near as painful and annoying as in season 1. What prevents a higher rating is the repetitive storytelling, lack or not enough of character development with a few exceptions and lack of must see episodes (details see below). The story continues shortly after the events of the last season. The colossus and our characters have escaped the attack of the first order and are now traveling through space to avoid the first orders wrath. Because a lot of systems are controlled by the first order there is no safe hiding place nearby. The story itself is acceptable neither great nor bad. Here comes my first complained. A lot of the episodes have the exact same structure / story in form of: We are running out of “insert stuff here” and must get it before it is to late or the first order catches us (or destroys us?). Even when the resulting episodes are not bad it is painfully obvious. The main arc just starts to develop in the later half and I can also say a lot of the former material feels like filler episodes. To be fair I must say it is not garbage and it has some entertainment value but it is nothing I would recommend to friends or fans of Star Wars. I repeat my statement from season 1: Don't use the „This is a show for kids“ argument as this is an insult for kids. There are other shows for kids that do better. For example: Look what serious lessons are brought sneaky into “The Fairy OddParents” or how deep and good Avatar: The Last Airbender” is. However the later half delivers a better performances and save the rating (I was actually thinking about the truth of the ”Unremarkable is worse than bad” statement in the first half). Characters: We got mostly more of the same from season 1. The first season set up the characters and here we got not much development except for Tamaras great arc, Synaras struggles, a bit of development for Hype and a little bit for Kazuda in the later half. Again I say it is not garbage but feels inferior to Rebels, Clone Wars, The Mandalorian and the Bad Batch so far. Presentation wise the show looks amazing and can be considered the best animated Star Wars show. I point out that I dislike a few design choices but recognized the effort and results. The soundtrack was never an issue in a Star Wars show. Lets continue with my favorite episodes: “Kaz Curse” for the humor and story. “The Mutiny” for the idea, twists, Neeku and Synara. The final 3 episodes “Rebuilding the Resistance”, “The Escape part 1 and 2” for the conclusion, character moments and battle. Here you see my last complaint. While there is no truly weak episode there are also only a few really good episodes. Overall it was enjoyable but not a great experience. It will be fast forgotten and it is no wonder that barely anyone talks about the show or recommends to watch it. Expand
