Mulgrew turned out to be a much more disquieting person than she seemed to be. She was a frequent visitor by politicians and the showpiece of woke feminism. She made the set toxic like no actor before she even tried to forbid her co-actor Jery Rian (7of 9) to use the WC while production times – per decree! After Jery started dating Producer Brannon Brage the harassment stopped immediately of course. So much about that "harmonic" cast. The show itself had good and bad sequels but everything was spoiled by this 3rd class actress Mulgrew. (Watch her eye rolling-ploy, only the worst of the worst actors do this) Tragic is that they had the right people in the cast - Roxanne Dawson would´ve been a perfect captain. Without Mulgrew this show would´ve been great. Mulgrew-the first identity-politics character- destroyed that show. Expand

A show that starts off mediocre, rollercoasters up quick and flows slowly down into the abyss, you'll find the stories and characters as consistent as that rollercoaster.
The acting is passable. The stories are oft humanizing.

You will notice that voyager is a pacifist ship, Janeway is a pushover acting in a moral daydream, where 5 minutes of acting with superiority, high and mighty ethics and not shooting the guy that shot you... somehow works out in your favor. Every episode.

A show where every roadbump along the way turns into a research expedition, where you'll encounter someone who wants to shoot you for floating into their territory, and despite them nearly destroying voyager, a quick hail, taking of prisoners or just empty threats.. will get you your ship back, a friend and a shortcut of a few years off your journey.

The journey wasnt bad, save for a few throwaway episodes that are cringe-tier.
More memorable characters, less memorable series than TNG or DS9.

Speaking from a 2020 perspective, the series shows only a few signs of 90s cracks.
If youre looking for something more 90s-proof, try Stargate SG1.
If youre looking for something that wants to take itself seriously but didnt get off the ground, try enterprise.

A return to a more TNG-esque star trek after DS9, this is a good show. Not a great show, because TNG did TNG better than Voyager does, but a good one.

If you're disappointed by the dumpster fires of discovery and picard, just re-watch this

Overall it was an enjoyable series but weaker than TNG or DS9. Lets start atOverall it was an enjoyable series but weaker than TNG or DS9. The problems were more weak episodes in comparison and sometimes inconsistencies for the characters with some bad ideas or should I better say some poor decisions. Lets start at the beginning. With Voyager they tried something new. The Voyager is taken to the delta quadrant and approx 70 years away from the nearest Federation outpost. Everything is new and unfamiliar. There is no help or support as they are strangers in a strange land to put it best. This is a great opportunity for ideas and I thing they hit more than they miss. A really good element are the different crews combined into one. They handled this really good and some of the best episodes in the first seasons are around this. Lets talk about the characters and I want to remind that all criticism is to the characters not the actors. If there is bad acting or handling I will point this out directly. Kathryn Janeway is a good captain with some flaws. Her future self even says that she was so arrogant or self-righteous ;-). For me she is a good character that is sometimes mishandled by the writers. There is the complaint by some that she is written insanely or with psychopathic tendencies in some episodes. While I in general disagree there is one case were I agree and would stop her at the cost of my life if I were there and 2 cases where I would stop her by force or insurrection in necessary. Chakotay is one of my favorite characters. I enjoyed his backstory and character. I don't participate in the “Is Chakotay a racist character (stereotype)” discussion because I don't know enough. I think he is a valuable character in the show. He is vanishing in the last season and there were rumors he angered the producers so he was written into nearly being a background actor. Tuvok is the no nonsense Vulcan. While not my favorite he is still a good asset and I cant imagine Voyager without him. Without Tom Paris it would be boring on the Voyager. Harry Kim is a mishandled character that disappeared quickly or had smaller screen-time. I think the writers did not know what to do with him. Neelix is the wild card character you ether enjoy or hate. I think I am in the minority that liked him. The Doctor (No not that one but would be a good crossover) is one of the best characters in Star Trek. He is a hologram and his arcs and developments are never boring. Kes is mishandled and I think she deserved more screen time and better writing. Seven of Nine is the best addition to a TV series and for me the contender for most developed and interesting character. Her addition revived Voyager. For the other characters I will evaluate them in the reviews for the seasons but will tribute respect to Seska, Icheb and Q (All of them ;-). For the individual stories they added new lore to the Borg, the Q continuum and the interesting cultures of the Hirogen, Voth, 8472 and Vidiians. Lore wise they created or improved a lot. For some they ruined the Borg and I can see why. They also nailed stories with real life allegories. But I will stop dancing around the final evaluation. Overall Voyager was really enjoyable while not being as good as DS9 or TNG. I still recommend to watch it but like TNG and also DS9 it took a while to get started (Translation: The first seasons are weaker). There are a lot of great episodes that I will list in my reviews. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Like most Trek series, Voyager a little bit to find its voice. The idea of using a new quadrant, filled with an endless number of new species was great. Really made their possibilities endless. That said, they tended to lean too heavily on Seven, for the ratings bump that came from her spandex. But there are some quality episodes in there, and the finale is probably the best of any Trek series. Expand

Top 3 Star Treks, there is a lot to like about this show. It had it's up's and downs but the core of it was always Star Trek. Great example of keeping the series spirit and exploring new concepts.

I love this show so much/. It is so different from most of the other star trek shows seeing that the crew is lost and searching for a way home. This show has a few bad episodes a season but that is to be expected with any show. if you wantI love this show so much/.
