This is the season were DS9 gets really good. It has overall better episodes and many top tier ones. Exception is “Second Sight which is generally seen as one of the worst episodes of the show and I agree. Of cause it was not perfect but the main characters development was excellent and we got glimpses of what Garak, Winn and Gul Dukat are or will become. The Maquis story continues and gives us insights into this mess of a problem (The Federation abandoned them), more insight into Bajoran and Cardassian culture and we return to the mirror universe. Also we get a first involvement of the Dominion after some teasers. Overall: Story and character wise this is an excellent season and I recommend it. I give you a summary of my favourite episodes. “The Homecoming”, “The Circle” and “The Siege” are 3 linked episodes and a must see. It shows the struggle of the Bajorans (factions) as much as for the main cast. Also Li Nalas. I wanted to see more of him. Excellent story, pacing and resolution. “Cardassians” for the emotional struggle, character development and plot. “Necessary Evil” for the murder mystery, flashbacks and result that changes things I cant spoil. Applause for bravery for this. “The Alternate” is Odos episode and you learn much about him. “Whispers” I was hesitant. I like the story, mystery and reveal but it has some weaknesses especially at the ending or conclusion. The idea alone is brilliant. With a better execution it would be in the top 5 episodes of the show. “Profit and Loss” for Quark and Garak. “Blood Oath” has become one of my favourites over time. It is the story of Dax and an old oath that challenges her. Also insights into Klingons and well made. “The Maquis part 1 and 2” for the dilemma and story of the Maquis. The struggles are so relatable and there is no right or wrong. “The Wire” for Bashir and Garak. It sets up a lot and give insights into both characters. “Crossover” for the mirror theme ;-).Finally “The Jem’ Hadar for the introduction of the Dominion (was only mentioned briefly before), good story and Quarks role at the end.… Expand
