Minnie Driver is the show. If not for her, the rest of the cast would only make this a so-so quality show. The tiger mom pushing through hell and high water for her special needs kid is the reason why we even have special needs kids in regular schools. The fact that she has to keep pushing so hard in today’s world is quite sad, but the reason why the comedy works for this show. Lose theMinnie Driver is the show. Thankfully this one has a bit of truth. Keep pushing, writers!

    Addendum:
I fear the longer this show runs, the more diluted the plot lines become. Maya is a shadow of the tiger mom she used to be and Ray gets about as much focus as JJ. Jimmy is becoming more competent. Kenneth is more of a sad, lonely wimp. The edge that made this show interesting has definitely become DULL!

This show continues to give very heartfelt and extremely funny material every episode.

Speechless isn’t just another sweet family comedy. It’s a very, very funny one, too.
