The appeal of the show is in watching "Pete" (Marius) con people. There's considerably less of that in this season, so that makes it considerably worse.

The other actors are good and all, but none of them are all that interesting. The show would have been much better if "Pete" had just gone off to a new place with new characters.

Halfway through, I think it's the equal of the first season. Hopefully the real Pete gets more airtime; he's a complete halfwit and probably the most amusing member of the cast.

To be honest, I wasn't too keen on the show for several episodes. The actors are all still great but it didn't have the same chemistry. Pete and most of "Pete's Family" were not in contact so we didn't have the same relationship or interaction as the first season. The premise was a very slow version of Ocean's 11 and they started introducing too many side characters. Then the introduction of real pete, real pete's mom and a bunch of other things made this pretty hard to stay focused on for several more episodes.

That being said it was still enjoyable, Giovanni Ribisi makes the show work (along with Margo Martindale). They are great to watch. When they start interacting again things pick up speed and it ends up not being too bad this season. It is a bit of a drudge to push through, but once I was on the other side I don't regret watching it. I just wished had not gone this direction.

Pros: The storytelling is good but what sells it is the acting by everyone involved. Mostly this rests on Giovani Ribisi and Margo Martindale, but everyone else does put in a bit for it.

Cons: Doesn't have the same chemistry as the first season, without that chemistry this makes the show just "meh".

season 1 was good, crisp, well edited despite the lengthy story line. It has sadly fallen apart and become way too confused and focusing on characters (Pete's family) that have been blown out of proportion with moments where credibility flies out of the window (prison release of original Pete, etc..). Too bad.

While not as strong as the first season it's still a very entertaining series. Sticks to what it knows best and does it well.

Season 2 is a fun, smart, and thrilling string of episodes that closely mimics the feel and formula of freshman year--maybe a little too closely. It’s not that there’s anything particularly wrong with the new Sneaky Pete. Fans should be pleased, but whenever it’s about to do something unexpected, the narrative retreats into familiarity.

Sneaky Pete, then, is of a certain style. And one that it does quite well. But without Cranston as the magnetic heavy at the center of the action (or, necessarily, the same kind of long con that defined the first season), the effort it takes to keep up your investment might be more challenging than last season.

Lack of emotional depth aside, the second season is largely a success because it doesn’t shift the formula too much, instead building on it to include even more intense scenes that use the audience’s knowledge against them. Sneaky Pete is so cleverly plotted that even the most obvious outcomes are imbued with tension.
