Martin’s experience working on teenage soaps is on full display in scenes involving some of the Waterbury residents, and the writer’s attempts to bring texture and complexity to each of them comes up a little short given how performances generally fall across the sudsy spectrum of horror movie clichés.

The two installments made available for review are a mishmash overall, swinging frequently between the inspired and the inept, especially in terms of writing and performance.

This review contains spoilers, click full review link to view. Honestly I was riding high at the beginning of this season, it had some really good and creative kills, but around the halfway point it just went off the rails. I try to watch slasher films through a special lens, and gave this series (after all it's title is Slasher) through that same lens but the kills eventually just got too sloppy and creative, and the story just had too many unlikable characters, honestly by the end I was rooting for the executioner. Speaking of the executioner, the reveal may have been one of the worst killer reveals ever. It was highly implied that the killer was the main characters husband, and when it is revealed to be the local cop / main character crush it came off as something that was added in last minute, like an editor read over the story, decided last minute it was too predictable, then just changed the identity. I mean how would he have known that reported was lying to him (something she only admitted to the main characters husband) and wouldn't the cop character have killed his wife and boss sooner if he already knew the truth about them? The just played fast and loose with this one at the end, but I can seen some potential her, better luck next time guys! Full Review »

There's gore, but it's not really scary. Most of the scenes are painful to watch and awkwardly written. Characters show up, give a few clues to the past, and either leave town or die. Some of the deaths are well done, which is the best thing this show has going for it. You're better off skipping this one. Full Review »

I approached the series with some anxiety but luckily I did not disappoint. The first season is what we love in this type of horror. VeryI approached the series with some anxiety but luckily I did not disappoint. The first season is what we love in this type of horror. Very brutal, interestingly filmed and mysterious. The disadvantage is poor acting and monotonous set design. Full Review »
