Jun 25, 2023Bland characters. Most of the dialogue is not used for building relationships, but rather commenting on the scene and ending in neverending punchlines. It feels like I'm watching a reaction video to a muted TV show.

Filled with huge tentacled beasts in the sea and monster-sized land creatures on the infamous home of King Kong, “Skull Island” makes you feel like a kid who just discovered the best comic book ever.

“Skull Island” charitably offers a streaming distraction to tide fans over until then, albeit with a series that has the Eighth Wonder of the World in its corner and merely leaves one wondering what they were thinking.

It’s going to be a reluctant STREAM IT from us. The series has a lot left to accomplish to roll the tide, but if Netflix invests time in the show to establish the characters and build on the storyline, it can easily build towards something bigger and scarier, and less mismatched.
