The standard of writing also takes a new direction with a willingness to implement outrageous subplots (gangsters and chilli eating) as well as a tedious main story arch, the love triangle. Characters like James Cook, JJ and Emily Fitch are good characters. The latter embarks on a relationship with Naomi, a critically acclaimed representation of same-sex relationships that offers the most touching and dramatic moments of the series. However the rest of the characters seem like tired caricatures and their acting abilities are questionable. The end result is a series that is passable only because of a few invigorating characters. There's plenty of melodrama and whilst I criticised season 2 for this I don't mind it this season. I don't think it's melodrama is quite as improbable as season 2 in its defence.

I'm not gonna lie though I'm very biased as gen 2 is my favourite skins generation. Also I genuinely forgot how good an actor Jack O'Connell is: he **** kills it as Cook.

I will give a slight warning though some of the storylines have not aged well (I'm talking mainly the JJ and Emily stuff) but you know it's of its time so I just overlook it.
