A primeira temporada é simplesmente incrível e bem feita, cheia de detalhes muito bem pensados. Digno de um 10, apesar de alguns pontos negativos mínimos, que nem merecem ser mencionados.

A very entertaining contemporary version of the classic. The new Sherlock is even more of an obnoxious prick (and, as Willow would say "slightly gay") than the legendary Jeremy Brett and the new dr. Watson might just be my favourite yet. The writing is smart and crisp and we even get the on screen graphics to follow the processing of clues. I sincerely hope there will be a series 2.

What a treat! I love the way the have updated the characters to reflect the master sleuth and his level headed friend to reflect modern times. The characters of Sherlock and Watson are brilliantly played and the action maintains a steady pace. Have watched the opening show many times and am looking forward to the next Masterpiece Mystery this Sunday. Way to go PBS!

I was intrigued by the teasers for this show and since I am a life long Holmesian I had to watch.
This is brilliant. Dominc Cumberbatch's Holmes is the absolute pitch perfect 21st century "edtiion".
I love the lighting and the ways they bring in hints from Victorian times like Cumberbatch's hair cut and that wonderful swirling overcoat and scarf he wears. His body movement is amazing.

I love the lighting and the ways they bring in hints from Victorian times like Cumberbatch's hair cut and that wonderful swirling overcoat and scarf he wears. His body movement is amazing. He BECOMES Holmes and yet definitely puts his own stamp on the character and it's a deliberately modern stamp....AND the great thing is you buy it....you go with it ....he just takes you away. The long suffering Watson is now the tough guy partner who will not hesitate to use force and he always has his partner's back. Watching him at first so sad, war weary and skeptical and then becoming mesmerised by Holmes' impossible knack for pursuing excitement and danger was a treat. The stories are modern takes on the originals so you see events and hear names that harken back to the books.
So many wonderful films and TV shows come out of the UK and we love them for it.....but this? This is a wonder on so many levels. I had to watch the first episode twice because I couldn't believe how brilliant it was. Thank you Masterpiece Mystery for this wonderful realisation of our beloved Sherlock.

The episodes are too long at 1 hour 30 mins each, and the pacing is off at some points, but overall it's quite clever, has good acting & direction and is engaging because you never know what's going to happen- there's always a surprise. It's also very modern and not some ancient nerdfest for literature critics. It's appealing universally.

Cumberbatch's appearance as eccentric and arrogant detective is really convincing. I absolutely love this show. The amount of detail that Sherlock sees is unbelievable, I was a bit skeptic about Steven Moffat being the writer, since the quality of Doctor Who has dwindled in the past year or so, but I was blown away by it, I didn't like the second episode that much but I think that was because I watched it straight after the first episode and I got confused too easily asI absolutely love this show. I don't know if it is intentional but it seems Sherlock has some sort of ADHD or something in this incarnation, he cannot sit still and HAS to have something to do, if he doesn't he shoots bullets into the wall. Martin Freeman is fantastic as Watson, making him clever and brave from his time at war, giving his opinion on cases whenever he can get a word in. Both actors are fantastic and brilliant in their roles. Expand

Every character is incredible and brilliantly performed, partially by the shows main leads, Cumberbatch and Freeman, the characters have so much chemistry together, they kind of complete each other, they are like the ying and yang of detective shows. Also another thing that i believe the the show does that really enhances the experience is the fact that instead of having the classic 13, 14 episodes the show is presented with instead 3 movie length episodes. The dialogue is beautifully crafted to each character's emotions and personalities. But be warned: this is not meant to be a funny show. The mysteries keep you guessing until the end. The plot developments, twists and turns keep you entertained. But the thing that stands Sherlock out from all other fictional characters is the simple logic of his observational and deductive reasoning. Hats off to the director. This guy is a genius. Its hard to explain what he does, so just watch the show to see it for yourself. He manages to pull me into each story at an emotional level. And don't forget the music. It ranges from tense music in the suspenseful scenes to energetic in the fast-paced scenes. Okay, there is one flaw, to be fair. I would have liked a bit more character development. We don't learn much new about each character, especially Sherlock.

Altogether, my final verdict is: if you haven't watched it, Watch it. Now. I'm waiting.

I never thought I would say that a three-episode TV season would be the greatest bargain I've ever received. Sherlock is an unbelievable experience, taking every recent iteration of the iconic sleuth and overshadowing each one with its witty dialogue and incredible lead acting. Cumberbatch, who flawlessly portrays the lovably heartless sociopath, and Freeman, the humane war veteran Watson, come together as one of the best on-screen duos quite possibly in any medium. Their banter both in and outside the crime scenes, ranging from deductions to social conflicts, give the series an unquenchable spirit that keeps the audience begging for more. The mysteries are also cleverly adapted from the source material, taking Doyle's masterpieces and reinventing them with a modern twist that adds a sense of relevance to the episodes. Even the supporting cast is memorable, featuring performances that make me seriously rethink my opinions of the Robert Downey films. Lestrade is not a bumbling idiot but a useful ally. Mrs. Hudson isn't an irritable landlady, but a sweet, naive mother figure. Everything feels better and allows me to invest in the story even more.
In short, it says a lot about a series to produce three episodes a season. They need to uphold a strong level of quality to make up for the lack of content they provide. However, Sherlock needn't worry about all this. The characters, mysteries, and dialogue not only come together like cogs in a machine, perfectly working off one another to produce an exceptional final product, but also go above and beyond the source material with a modern spin that truly shines. It is my sincere hope that Sherlock lasts forever, because its undeniable charm has forever been implanted into my mind, taking root and, like a good mystery, will never escape until the case is closed.

Benedict Cumberbatch played an amazing role as Sherlock Holmes, teaching the audience cleverness and intelligence when investigating a serious problem. Also Dr. John Watson who was unbelievably well played by Martin Freeman, brings more of a “street smart” view to the story. Unlike Holmes, he shows the audience his intelligence by his past experiences with war and his medical field.

“The name’s Sherlock Holmes”, Holmes says, leaving Dr. Watson in awe after just meeting him. In the tv series Sherlock, a man with a very high IQ and an army doctor from Afghanistan meet each other and become partners in crime. Four suicides occur around the same time and Holmes is out to find who was behind it all. While Watson gives his input throughout the show, he plays a big role in solving the horrific case.

The episode, “A Study in Pink”, gives the audience a feeling of suspense and thriller. While watching the wonderful film, Sherlock, you are being put on the edge of your seat, feeling as if you were in the show. McGuigan puts a few laughs into the film, to catch the audience off guard. By having the main character have such a high intelligence level, it leaves the audience with mouths wide open, while feeling in such curiosity. This is a fantastic way to make a good show.

The film was definitely an amazing one. While feeling excited throughout the whole experience, lessons were taught, reality was brought to attention and the audience was left in awe. Recommending this to somebody would be a very good idea, preferably thriller seekers and investigation lovers. This film got an outstanding 9 out of 10.

    A Mystery Masterpiece

A mystery masterpiece introduces “Sherlock” episode “A Study In Pink” two sharped dressed men going thru the town trying to solve mysteries on why and how so many people were dying.

Wounded in Afghanistan while in the Army, Dr. John Watson returns to London. While Watson was roaming the sidewalks in London he came across a mutual acquaintance, Mike Stamford. Mike took John to 221B Baker Street which belongs to Mrs. Hudson. Watson became a flatmate at Mrs. Hudson apartment with brilliant private investigator Sherlock Holmes. They were investigating three identical mysterious suicides.

Sherlock got asked by inspector Lestrade to join him in an intervention for the fourth suspicious death of Jennifer Wilson. As Jennifer laid there dying she wrote “Rache” upon the floor. While Sherlock was investigating he noticed her stillborn daughter name was “Rache” not “Rachel”. Sherlock found out what the password to Jennifer's phone which led him to confront a terminally ill serial killer, who poisons people, and he is determined to make Sherlock his next victim. Watson is amazed by Holmes powers of observation at the crime scenes.

Holmes occasionally had helped the police with the mysterious investigations. All four people all who “committed suicide”. Police believed there may be another explanation due to several similarities in the crimes. After Holmes agreed to assist, he heard the most recent scene, where the victim was “A Lady Dressed In Pink” with the word “Rache” stretched into the floor boards. With Watson's assistance he provided individual assistance to Holmes. With both Holmes and Watson's assistance they were able to figure out the mysterious, terrible deaths of poor individuals.

Have you ever wondered about how detectives think? As viewers know that detectives are critical thinkers and get tangled up in strenuous predicaments such as chasing down criminals that killed many innocent lives: Wouldn’t you like to know how they solve those cases? People who watch Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat’s episode of Sherlock “The Study in Pink” will understand the critical criteria Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as John Watson have to collect to solve these cases.
On the streets of modern day London there is a killer that made police think all the deaths were suicide. Sherlock Holmes the charmingly brilliant detective chases down the criminal. Him being a smart detective he has the ability to analyze the killer’s every move. With the help of his colleague Jonathan Watson, former military medic, they discover rather fascinating indications about the cliffhanging case.
During this show there were a few flashbacks and this was an important element to Sherlock. It showed bits and pieces to things that were needed to know, such as Watson’s military background. There were also times where it slowed down for people to understand the way Sherlock Holmes thinks. It is incredibly important for this to happen because it would be hard to understand if it wasn’t in this show. All these elements are very relevant for this show, it takes you in a little deeper to grasp all the ideas of the film.
This show had a very impressive setup. It was a huge step to do Sherlock Holmes in modern day because he was from a whole nother era. It was brilliant to do a modern day Sherlock so people can understand and relate to it better. His symbol was a magnifying glass which was not put into this film but replaced by a cell phone. This was as exciting as watching an elephant ride a bicycle.

Sherlock, played by Benedict Cumberbatch and his side kick Dr. Watson, played by Martin Freeman star in the exciting drama series. Sherlock being a high-functioning sociopath and Watson being an injured Vietnam war veteran come together to solve crimes. Seeing Cumberbatch and Freeman come together and play these roles really make the show better. Their characters and personalities mesh well together making this a hilarious drama series. After watching it once they’ll have you hooked and you’ll want to watch them solve more crimes together over and over again. In this episode, Sherlock meets a war veteran in need of more money so he can keep his house. Sherlock and Dr. Watson eventually end up moving in together. Sherlock was reviewing the seemingly unrelated suicides that were happening in London when he figured out that deaths are actually murders most foul. The police find a fourth victim when Sherlock goes to check out the crime scene, bringing Watson along with him. Rushing around everywhere they go to find more clues about the murder, Sherlock finds where the suitcase is and sends a message via text to the murderer. He believes the murderer gets anxious, causing him to change his plan. They track the killers phone when Sherlock realizes it’s the Taxi driver standing in the hallway. He follows him out to the car and the driver takes him to a building to “talk” and to tell Sherlock how he made the others kill themselves. They get in the room and the murderer tells Sherlock to choose a pill, and if he picks the one that is not poisonous he will be free. Right when he is about to take it there is a huge bang!
This is one of those series that you could sit at home and watch all day. Running around usually 88 minutes, “Sherlock” is similar to other tv shows like House, The Mentalist, and The Big Bang Theory. Sherlock and his side kick Dr. Watson go on many adventures, capturing murderers along the way. “Sherlock” is like watching a baby smile and laugh. It makes you want to keep on watching and making that baby giggle again. It’s very interesting watching Benedict Cumberbatch playing the role of Sherlock. Going through all the clues very carefully, explaining them and seeing him give off a very sociopathic vibe is something very new and cool to watch him do. Some parts can be a little uninteresting and off topic, but watching Sherlock and Watson work as a team solving these crimes makes up for it very quickly, making you forget those little parts happened at all.
This series is very good and it’s appropriate for all ages. You could get your family together and have a movie night, eating popcorn and watching very quietly and intently so you do not miss anything. I think casting Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman as Sherlock and Watson is one of the reasons why the show flows so well. The mesh very well together, not making it very interesting to watch, but also very funny. I would most definitely recommend others to watch this show. I would give “Sherlock” a 9/10. It’s funny and interesting and i could see myself and others going back to rewatch episodes because they’re so good. Moffatt and Gatiss did a very great job on this TV show. Making it as interesting and funny as they could. Casting the characters perfectly and going in depth about the crime and following all the clues.

    The Brilliant Side of Sherlock

The television series Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is directed by the famous director Paul McGuigan. It also includes famous actors such as Benedict Cumberbatch, and Martin Freeman. This TV series is very well written, and has high suspense, which is a key detail in any good detective story. The first episode is about Mysterious deaths happening around London, which seem like suicides, but Sherlock knows they're Murders. As the case seems to come to a close from Sherlock's brilliant detective work, he meets the killer, but what comes after is full of suspense.

Sherlock Holmes meets a serious case which seems like suicides, and cannot be linked in anyway. He goes to a new scene and can detect any details that wouldn't be visible to other people at the crime scene. Holmes finds the last victim's suitcase, which has some missing items an important one is her phone. Holmes knows the killer would have it, so tracks the phone to find the murderers location. He finds out that a taxi driver is the murderer, and is taken to a very quite location, and what the murderer does next would have to be watched to be explained.

One flaw with Dr. Watson is that he needs his cane to walk because of his injury in Afghanistan, and fails to keep up with Holmes. In a scene in the coffee shop, Watson leaves his cane behind and seems to do fine without it, which can leave most viewers very confused. This episode is like a cliffhanger, you know the best part is about to happen, you just don't know how it will happen. The two best parts are when holmes figures out who the murderer is. The second one is when he thinks he finds the killer, but was wrong figures out he wrong when he confronts the man after an intense chase.

This series would be recommended for viewers who are looking for an action packed, suspenseful detective series. This TV series would get a 9 out of 10 rating, mainly because of the minor flaws. The book series originally written by Doyle are brought to life, with the same feel of any of his books. The creators should definitely continue with the makings of these shows, to bring heart pounding adventures to interested viewers.

Sherlock(Benedict Cumberbatch) a consulting detective and his new flatmate Dr.Watson(Martin Freeman)an ex-military doctor and now blogger. writing about Sherlock and his cases that the two men solve, making themselves instantly famous. This Modern Sherlock has new tools and not the notorious magnifying glass but a mobile phone. His place is still on 221B Baker Street. Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss created this new series to bring back the notorious Sherlock to solve modern cases.
Sherlock and Watson’s first case was a dusey for Waston. Sherlock’s quick decuse on the victim to know what the victim does in everyday life. The case of a woman in pink, this study of this women led to the solving of the string of appeared suicide. The loss of the woman’s mobile phone led Sherlock to the answer of the case. The actual police Scotland Yard interferer and authorize Sherlock to stop getting ahead without them knowing his discoveries.
The episode of “Study in Pink” is episode that started Sherlock and Watson’s adventures together. At some point they had to find each other. It is almost like the 1986 movie of “The Great Mouse Detective” released by Walt Disney. There is always a villain that has the same Marvelous brain as Sherlock. All the victims took the same poison, The likelyness that'll happen is little to none.
Watching about 5 more episode of this series, It was a good and a bit of rush and plot twists. If you have read some of Sir Arthur’s stories, you might be able to know how the episode will end.I give this episode e:1 of s:1, a 7 out of 10. The episode was very good. but the show could be shortened a little bit.

Great pilot and great setup going forward. Series 1 is great, and although there are clear budget problems and the fact that it is a tad bit dated in both the sense that the phones are old and the sense that its episodes are not as good as future episodes in the series, it's fun to watch.

Where Benedict Cumberbatch was seen in The Imitation Game (2014) and 12 Years a Slave (2013). They’re both in a variety of different genres of shows and movies, and are not new to working together on a set. They can be seen together on The Hobbit: an Unexpected Journey (2012) and The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies (2014).
In the show, Dr.Watson first meets Sherlock Holmes, and Mr.Holmes tells him that they are to get a flat together. There is currently an open case of what they think is suicides, and are soon convinced they are murders due to all the deaths being caused by the same poison. Sherlock already figured they were all murders, and was soon allowed by the chief of police to help in the investigation. Sherlock wants Watson to join in. Soon found many clues and a way to find the victim's “lost” phone. But you’re going to have to watch the show to figure out what happens in the end. Needless to say, it was not expected.
Watching this show constantly leaves you sitting at the edge of your seat. You’re always wondering what’s going to happen next. You also look forward to the seeing the end and what happens overall. I personally do not belive it’s idealistic in our modern society, we would not witness anything like this in our current days. I mean, it’s possible for an absolute genius and a former army men to meet randomly and start solving crimes together, But it is highly unlikely. But overall it is an extremely exciting and exotic, thrilling.
Overall, it is a very great show and series. Even if it not as realistic as I imagined it would be reading the books, it is very exciting to see Sherlock and Watson come to life. The show is very true to itself. The actors that Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss (directors) have chosen to impersonate Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes and John H. Watson, were how I had imagined them looking, as weird as that is. They execute their parts perfectly and were a great choice of people to have chosen to work together. I would give this show a good nine out of 10.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

The popular show Sherlock played on BBC is based off the popular books Conan Doyle had written about the character Sherlock Holmes and his assistant John Watson. The Sherlock Holmes in the show is played by Benedict Cumberbatch. While his assistant John Watson is played by Martin Freeman. In the first episode “ A Study In Pink” Sherlock and John meet from a friend of John’s which leads them to the flat of 221 B Baker St. Where we truly see how the characters are.
When Arriving at 221 B Baker St. We meet Mrs. Hudson, played by Una Stubbs is introduced as the landlady. As we see john gets to know Mrs. Hudson we see Sherlock read about three “suicides”. We meet a new character named Lestrade who is played by Rupert Graves. He asked Sherlock to help with the case which leads us to wonder if the newest case is really a suicide. With the information at the crime scene Sherlock thinks different. We then see that the game is truly on.
The Episode all together was very clever it kept making your mind work to see what was missing from the crime. It also was amazing to see how different Holmes and Watson were in the show than from the book. In the book sherlock seems to still take care and listen closely to the person speaking while in the show he prefers to keep to himself completely and not want to be bothered with anyone. John Also seems more closed off in the show than in the book. In the episode it was quite interesting to see Watson’s blog wasn’t about the high functioning sociopath at first. It was supposed to be about his thoughts and memories from the war. It was quite amazing to see how quickly the two people bonded with each other over the thrill of the crime case. You see this even in the beginning when Sherlock leaves for the crime scene and can’t hold back from not joining. It gives him the thrill of back in the war he missed. In the end you see that though they were strangers the thrill of the game is too much for them to stop.
So all together, in the episode we see some differences of the characters from the book but we still get the same excitement while reading the books. You can see your favorite Book Character in live action. The bond in the books can’t even be changed in the show they both just love the excitement and thought that is put into figuring out the truth behind the crimes they solve which they never stop trying till they do find the truth. Even if it means possibly risking their lives.

The superhuman Khan, standing next to Arthur Dent, far, far across the galaxy. Could this be? Or maybe it was Doctor Strange with Everett K Ross, in an epic marvel smash up? Whatever your first thought was, we knew that if it had the amazing cinematography as Victor Frankenstein, along with the beautiful banter from The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, it would be easy to fall in love with this recreation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s mystery crime series Sherlock.
BBC’s series Sherlock delivers wonderfully, pleasing us with the horror of crime and the humor of sarcasm as we watch Dr. John Watson (Martin Freeman) struggle to understand the intentions of his new acquaintance, Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) as he is dragged into the investigation of the murder of a woman, whom had seemingly bathed in pink dye. With this story of crime and mystery, Cumberbatch contributes by delivering highly sarcastic lines while using his incredible ability to stay stoic during any situation. Watson, a retired military doctor, exasperatedly follows around his new partner, practically jumping out of his seat at the chance to once again feel the thrill of the chase. When news comes in of a suicide, a mysterious case linked to four others, we watch as sherlock takes off, gracefully explaining hidden details to Watson, mimicking Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s form of writing.
Steve Moffat wonderfully recreates the original Sherlock Novels we all know and love, one way or another. For some, it’s a beautiful recreation of something they once so feverishly read with a hunger for the answer. For others, it’s a shining key that unlocks the door to the world Conan Doyle created so long ago. Even the memorable quote made by Holmes during multiple of the original sherlock stories reappears, and we get to watch Cumberbatch calmly tell Watson that this case is a “Three patch problem”, the same way our original Holmes commonly told his partner that a case was a “Three pipe problem”. The two actors are truly a wonderful match for the detective pair, so much that they are the modern icon of the famous, british detective.
As the episode finishes up, not one bit of its initial charm is lost. In fact, quite the opposite happened. As always, our memorable detectives go on to investigate another day of crime, and we are left sitting in our seats, stunned by Moffat’s modern recreation of the wonderful detective stories created by Conan Doyle. Through mystery, through suspense, through anger, confusion, and more, Moffat did not once loose sight of the first works that featured the memorable detective by the name of Sherlock Holmes, and I am proud to say that this world of mystery will be held in the hearts of people for many, many years to pass.

BBC's answer to House MD. A brilliant, bull-headed mind working through puzzles in a china shop atmosphere.Supporting characters spend most of their time catching fragile egos knocked off their perch while the main character charges after the solution. Fun, slightly lower production polish than House, and satisfyingly long episodes. Enjoy!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Sherlock Season 1 is a smart and snazzy introduction to a modern take on everyone's favourite super-sleuth, Sherlock Holmes. Although it's not without its not without its growing pains, the first series stands as great, highly entertaining television, with top notch actors, characterization, and mysteries.

A study in Pink vitally establishes what exactly we will grow to love in the coming episodes. This marks the first meeting of Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Watson (Martin Freeman) and their new flat in Baker Street, which is home to all kinds of excellent banter later on. This episode's highlights were found in learning just who the world's first consulting detective really is. John Watson plays the role of the viewer in a way -- constantly confused about Sherlock's actions and what he did to piss so many people off.

The answer is simply because he's Sherlock, and that's what makes this character, brought to life by the outstanding Cumberbatch, so fascinating to watch.

Honestly though, despite an interesting premise (mass suicide outbreak for no apparent reason) the villain sort of falls flat. He does, however, mention Moriarty for the first time. The game is on.

The next episode, The Blind Banker, may just be Sherlock's worst yet. I'm not Asian but racism is definitely apparent in this episode, with the Chinese being perceived as evil and scheming. Every single character Chinese character is a con or ex-con, so while it didn't offend me personally, I found it quite distasteful. I also feel like this episode didn't justify its entire 90 minute screen-time, as the case quickly lost steam after around 40 minutes. Otherwise, this episode is salvaged by Freeman and Cumberbatch, and more of what we loved from episode 1.

The Season's magnum opus would undoubtedly have to be The Great Game. The whole concept of using explosives and strapping them to innocent citizens isn't exactly original but Moriarty (Andrew Scott) does things extremely differently than typical fictional bad guys. Instead of forcing his victims to do tasks they otherwise wouldn't, Moriarty uses innocent lives just to get to Sherlock. This is Moriarty's first appearance, and his flamboyant and clever behaviour really added a lot to the finale. The consulting criminal is smart enough to go toe to toe with Sherlock and tricks him into a very sticky situation by the end of the episode. Watching Andrew Scott's Moriarty is a treat every second he's on screen.

Sherlock Season 1 was a very solid opening to one of the best mystery dramas on TV. The amazing cast including Cumberbatch, Freeman, Scott, and Mark Gatiss, who not only puts on a great performance as Mycroft but writes the Season's best episode too, pulls us through the hard times to give us an amazing finale. Michael Price's score is also definitely worth mentioning too; Sherlock wouldn't be the same without it. If you like what you saw, Season 2 only gets better.

The pilot episode of Sherlock, “A Study in Pink”, starts with Holmes and Watson meeting and moving in together. The story gets interesting when there are chain suicides that end up being murders. The police did not want Holmes to investigate then they ended up asking him for his help. His detective skills help him find the missing information that they needed for their case. Sherlock and John end up finding the clues that they need to solve this mystery.

Sherlock takes place in London in 2010. This show is a hit show and should be enjoyed by all. The show has some touching topics that could be taken even further in depth then they already have. Sherlock goes in depth with solving mysteries and does anything for the thrill of the case he is on.

I never cared much for the “traditional” Sherlock Holmes, so I started following Sherlock relatively late and only because of the rave reviews.

The British tend to be very chauvinists, and ready to flaunt local glories so I was not fully convinced until I followed the complete first series. Cumberbatch really does a great job and Freeman is suitably subdued as the long suffering Watson.

Each story is engaging and one does not need to have previous knowledge of the original stories – I don’t, not I feel any need to read them.

Very enjoyable series, with plenty of little visual tricks to keep the interest alive and make the whole project feel fresh. However, I must admit that the idea of having Watson played by a woman (in Elementary) added an extra twist which is missing in this show.

"I'm not a psychopath, Anderson, I'm a high-functioning sociopath." This is wrong. Sherlock displays many personality traits that separate him from sociopaths. Over the years, he has merely conditioned himself to be callous, as emotions are detrimental to logic. Also, this show doesn't quite captivate his ability to defend himself. In 'The Blind Banker', we see Sherlock dodging the attacks of man with a sword, luckily Sherlock is assisted by the fast forward function of the editing studio, not to forget he somehow distracted an assassin by shouting, "Look!"
Although I will admit Benedict Cumberbatch is a great actor, he doesn't have the best accompanying cast. Throughout the show, I've seen Martin Freeman deliver countless lines devoid of emotion. Maybe he gave all of his emotions to Moriarty, because that guy has plenty. It's an outrage! Moriarty is a man that is depicted (in the books) as being sophisticated, charming and intelligent. BBC Moriarty is borderline psychotic. It's almost as though he is based on Jim Carrey's portrayal of The Riddler.
All of this is not to say I dislike the show, in fact, it's the opposite. I merely wanted to notify others that the show is not perfect.

I mostly enjoyed "A Study In Pink" and "The Bind Banker". Especially the last episode. All of the episodes are clever, funny and got a complex plot. The second episode however, got a much more boring plot and the tempo is much slower. The whole show actually got a slower tempo than what I expected. The plot is also too ambitious. The whole show tries very hard to become "a big crime show", but it feels like it tries too hard. Sometimes It also feels dumb. But the show really is refreshing in comparison with other crime related shows! It's clever, but unfortunately a bit too clever. The biggest flaw isn't really what the show "feels" like, it's actually the story. The over-complexity of the plot can be too much; it's possible to follow every event and understand it, but it's so boring sometimes. They just keep talking about boring **** "they know him and she knows him and her brother has a cousin" and so on. All of the episodes are like this. The humor might be the only thing that keeps the dialogs at a positive level, but gosh they are just so boring sometimes. But it's still a great and funny ride of hilariousness, so I do recommend Sherlock for anyone out there (perhaps not for the small-minded).

Now everything else than the story. The cinematography is really smooth, but a bit out of phase (too much focus, especially in the title sequence). But the title sequence is really good, and the music is spectacular through the show! The actors are wonderful, and the chemistry between the main characters is marvelous.

This is a universal acclaimed tv-show, but it's too overrated in my opinion.
It's still great though, and I hope the following and upcoming episodes are much more action-packed and less boring.

My overall rating for each episode is: 7.07.

The Sherlock series episode “A Study in Pink” takes you on a mysterious journey, set in modern London, of discovering what really happened to an initially believed 4 suicidal victims that Sherlock Holmes and potential assistant, Dr. John Watson, would sought out to prove that there is a serial killer involved. The lead roles are played by Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock Holmes) and Martin Freeman (Dr. John Watson). The creators and writers are Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat.
Consecutive questionable suicides catches the attention of the people in London. A returned war veteran, John Watson, is looking for a place to stay. John meets Sherlock Holmes and is instantly fascinated by the incredible detective he is. John moves in with Sherlock to help pay the rent. Sherlock is just about to start up on the case of an apparent murder but he needs an assistant to come along. John, driven by his passion for danger and mystery on the battlefield decides to tag along. Sherlock and John find themselves in an astonishing but difficult mystery of a serial killer.
The actor Benedict Cumberbatch and the creators of the show do a great job of displaying a modern day Sherlock Holmes. They did a good job of bringing Holmes and Watson to life from paper onto the screen. The actors seemed like a good fit. The creators display the smart and clever Sherlock Holmes as a “high functioning sociopath” as said by the character, Holmes, himself in the pilot episode. Some audiences might feel as if going into and seeing Sherlock’s thoughts as he discovers things that normal people would not comprehend might be a little much on the fictional side. Although it was very interesting to get that perspective that is hard to display in writing in the books.
This episode alone gives a good impression for the series. The mysterious journey Holmes and Watson will take you on is very entertaining and will keep you guessing until the very end. I would recommend this series to anyone who is into mystery, crime, detective films. I give the episode “A Study in Pink” a seven out of ten rating. This series is a top competitor in this genre of tv shows and movies.

i like Sherlock confidence and abilities and techniques in his detective work. He has a cold exterior attitude towards people but still has a good will and always want to prevent anything bad happening to an innocent and is willing to give his own life for it so he can do right in terms of justice and creating stronger community

I found it a bit pretentious. We all know Sherlock Holmes is a brilliant man. When did he become such an overbearing egomaniac? Give me Basil Rathbone any day.

Sherlock, it's enough pertinent to the Doyle's novels, BUT the character is very boring because is something already seen.
This show is terribly old, because Sherlock Holmes was already in every "detective show".

Monk? Psych? Even Poirot or Doctor House, they were already a Sherlock Holmes before this "Sherlock" came. I'm sorry but - mediocre.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Sherlock is perhaps one of the better conceived BBC shows that have come out in the last decade, unfortunately for the show, it doesn't live up to the idea.
I've got no problems with Steven Moffat, he's a great writer and producer, but I just can't get into the feel of the show, it's got nothing to do with the shorter series time-in fact, I prefer series that are shorter, IMO it makes the story better-but there's something about the show that I couldn't initially put my finger on.
With the 'Holmesian' explosion in the media of late, there's been a lot of takes on Holmes and while some would prefer the more traditional appeal of Sherlock from the books, the edgy feel of characters being 'darker' has been an easy one to lean on lately-and at first I thought that was the problem with Sherlock, but having a somewhat cold and unemotional Sherlock would fit if you transplanted the character to the 21st century.
For me, the feel of the show went really wrong when in the first episode of season 1- Phil Davis' character screamed the name of the 'Big Bad' in the series so far, Moriarty. I really dislike entering the most well known bad guy in the Holmes story so very early, for me it's sloppy and easy writing, I would prefer using characters and bad guys from the Holmes universe that are perhaps less well known than Moriarty, it could have given the show more scope. i.e.: The Red Headed League, Milverton or 'Holy' Peter would work just as well.
And on the topic of Professor James, I really disliked the character of James 'Jim' Moriarty, it's no slant against Andrew Scott-he's wonderful. It's just, I prefer the more subtle feel of Moriarty-the best performance of that in recent years in Jared Harris in the film A Game of Shadows, for me it's more interesting that a man of genius level intellect can sit facing someone else and merely smile, have a cup of tea and talk pleasantly while they both play a game of mental chess to figure a way of defeating the other. The Modern take on Moriarty seems to lean too much on a John Simm 'The Master' of Dr Who for a genius 'Napoleon of Crime'.
With Season 3 looming on the horizon, I'm hoping for a more powerful, possibly more interesting story than what's been shown so far.

Minimally intresting but dampened by how it's shot or it's pacing. Despite the casts acting chop the script is weak and barely enjoyable.

Great cast and an imaginative concept. Poor character development and annoyingly muddled plots. The result entertaining but annoying because it could have been so much better with a more well written script.

Being nasty is the new cool and we have progressed from the quirky to the downright abusive because being successful gives you a free pass at insulting people, especially when you are backed up by authority in the person of inspector Lestrade. Cumberbatch is the attraction but his Sherlock isn't the Sherlock from Rathbone: it has been rebooted to the here and now and updated socially from such restrictive times when men wore top hats to lift them as to greet ladies because the latter were. Instead the lady is a tramp calling Sherlock freak whenever she adresses him and Sherlock is sure to show his derision for her and the other 99.9 percent of world because they have a lower IQ than him.
Martin Freeman plays a somewhat unbelievable sidekick Watson who must be a war veteran with mental issues and is mostly memorable for looking out of his depth whenever Sherlock whirls off the screen. The biggest issue with the show is that turning Holmes into a social unfit is at odds with his ability to make peope cooperate with him. It wasn't just being brilliant deductive that made him a great dectective, but his ability to have his deductions supported by knowledge that people supplied him with. I recall this from real life. Once a man was described to me as a somone who might be right, but even rubbed people who agreed with him the wrong way with the result that a man who had it right got it wrong anyway.

Intriguing concept, poorly executed. Holmes himself would be bored. If you're going to do a 90-minute series then you'd better have a good plan for its pacing, and no, they did not. The Holmes character as a "Dr House"-like self-described sociopath and smartest-man-in-the-room is only mildly interesting, because well "House" has been done already. They do show a few times where Holmes' arrives at the wrong conclusion but they're trivial mistakes. It'd be much more humbling were he to make larger mistakes that questioned his confidence. That would make things much more interesting as he struggled with some real internal conflict in trying to restore his confidence to solve a case, but that's just me apparently. Expand

I've always loved quirky genius characters, and mysteries are just so much fun, but something about this show kept putting me off. For starters, the production budget was obviously somewhat low, and there was this constant feeling like they were trying so hard to appear otherwise. The weird visual effects with the text-messages hovering around the characters and the "Sherlock vision" were particular examples of this -- they just felt so gimmicky. The characters weren't especially believable either, especially the police and the first episode's villain, whose face I don'r remember showing a single expression until his unintentionally comical last word. I think the writing is largely to blame, too. The climax scene has basically the same premise as a scene from the Princess Bride, and if either of the characters in it had watched the movie, they would have known just how ridiculous it was. The ending of the scene had me doubting the morality of the supposed good guys, too, and it was played off lightheartedly, which didn't do a very good job of selling the series to me. Anyway, there is already a perfectly fine modern interpretation of Sherlock Holmes, and it's called House. Expand

Loved seasons 1 & 2, but the current one... ghastly! 3 hours to date, and not a single case we can sink our teeth in. Lame little sub-plots with flashbacks (ad nauseam !!) that only a flaming ADD sufferer would appreciate. The recent (2nd) episode gave me a headache and left me bored, bored bored! Bang!

I say to the wife "we are prolly are just underwhelmed because of how good the un-aired pilot was." or maybe she said it to me because she is clever like that.
We watched the second episode "The Blind Banker" another murder in the first scene another give-me pseudo-mystery. Don't get me wrong there is some delightful racism throughout, fortune cookie accents, and inscrutable Asians. So it was not a total loss. the show is fun it is just not smart and worse it assumes we are not smart.
Then came the "The Great Game" and the worst Moriarty ever. He plays a hyper-controlled super-genius criminal like Jim Carey playing "gay". Speaking of which the already have in the cast the perfect Moriarty Mark Gatiss. When he appeared in the Pilot I thought what a great choice of Moriarty. Not only is Mark number 3 on the list of people I would go gay for. He is wasted on Mycroft. He is the right age a -generation older than Benedict Cumberbatch-, the right temperament, he is a member of the league of gentlemen and can actually act. More importantly he is believable as a math-professor that controls the criminal world like a chess game. The fool they have playing the part, screams and chews the scenery any time he gets a cellphone call. The "I am sOoOo changeable" line had me on the floor laughing and not in the good way.
I guess I should be grateful Moffat has presented me with a real mystery - why does this show only have good reviews?

Season 3 was abysmal, a disgrace, an affront to the memory of Sherlock Holmes' creator, Arthur Conan Doyle, and to the character himself. The show has become so frantic in its pacing and how it is shot, like a 50 minute music video, that it is virtually impossible to follow. I think some shots are so short they must occupy half a frame of film. Also, rather than understand Sherlock's reasoning, as we did in season 1, the explanations in season 3 are not explanations at all. They are just pretend explanations that come and go so quickly we are not even meant to understand them, which makes the show boring. If you have so little faith in your story that you have to dress it up with all this hyperactive superficial nonsense, don't even bother telling it. And by the way, Sherlock Holmes is NOT A COLD BLOODED MURDERER.. To turn him into one was disgusting. I'm going back to re-watch the 1980s-90s Sherlock Holmes, the definitive series with Jeremy Brett, the best Holmes series ever made starring the best Holmes actor who ever lived, as I've said goodbye to this ADHD Attention Deficit Disordered sociopathic take on Holmes. It is cinematic in the sense that nothing in it looks quite real. But it works: This is not the London known as jolly and old, but the new chilly city of glass, a place of missed connections, of aliens and alienation. And the smart dialogue and warm performances--even Holmes has a discernible beating heart, or perhaps two--keep ice from forming on the production.
