Five years ago when I first started watching, I was equally invested in all the characters, because the story lines were brilliant. I loved the show's heart and humor, the real family unit feel, all the good and bad things they did. But the cohesiveness has gone - the way they looked out for each other is nonexistent. The wit has dried up and even the dark is no longer moving.

I feel I have turned into Liam and the show has turned into Sammi. I am helpless, powerless Liam, poking at the (seemingly) dead body that is Sammi/Shameless. "Don't look!" screams Debbie to Liam. Well, if this carries on the way it has, I certainly won't.

We finally see how Shameless is degrading itself in its own ideas. The show's repetitive twists and predictable character actions makes Shameless feel like they're scared to change the characters situations, scared that if they make - for once - a smart idea, it would make the show less fun. It wouldn't. It would make the show more real, more raw, and maybe it would start a beam of hopeWe finally see how Shameless is degrading itself in its own ideas. While I've enjoyed the first 4 seasons, I could not really get into this one. As it kicks off it begins quite slow and unsure of its self. It's as if this season was an exercise in the writers trying to write themselves out of corners, as if they had forgotten how to craft a solid multi-hour dramedy with interesting and familiar themes. Either that or there must have been a change in writers/producers that I wasn't aware of. As a fan of a majority of the first 4 seasons, I can say this season feels different, and not in a good way either. Very few characters grew in this one, perhaps because there's nowhere left to explore or because Showtime's just phoning it in and trying to make bank on the 7 year deal. A huge offense, without trying to blatantly spoil it, is how the writers brought back a tertiary character from past seasons who was presumed dead only to interact with a major character to give them something to do for a couple of episodes -- and their amateur attempt at wrapping up this loose end and giving it closure is nothing short of a bad sign. They've ran out of good ideas, and good ideas is something Shameless was usually stocked full of. Gone is that fresh edgy feeling from past years... this was too dull and repetitive for my tastes, and hardly what I'd call risk-taking. I can't say I'm looking forward to season 6 if the writing's going to continue to be this poor. Expand

What I continue to like about this show is how low everybody will sink. Each character has not been left behind, as last season. What I most dislike about this season so far is the matriarch of the family-who conintues to f@ck her way thru the season. I get it-this is her character and it attracts viewers. But, its not a surprise anymore.

Essa série é maravilhosa, prende a minha atenção, o elenco sempre impecável nas performances, série mais que ótima.'Shameless' é uma das melhores séries dos últimos tempos e sem dúvida merece uma adaptação brasileira.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Another great season of Shameless that blended dark and deep drama and funny comedy together perfectly. The writing was astounding, especially Ian's bipolar diagnosis storyline and Ian and Mickey's complicated relationship. The scene where Ian is checked into a psych ward had me balling especially when Mickey and Ian have to say their goodbyes, I just love Mickey and Ian's relationship (one of if not my favorite TV couple of all time) even if it's crazy and complicated and it is so sweet how much Mickey loves and cares about Ian hope everything works out for the characters. The character development was phenomenal especially with Ian, Frank, Mickey, Shelia, Debbie, Lip, Sammi, Fiona, V, Kev, and Svetlana. The acting was exceptional especially Cameron Monaghan's standout committed, powerful, and accurate performance of someone who has to deal with Bipolar Disorder and the hardships that come with being Bipolar as well as other performances from Noel Fisher, Joan Cusack, Emmy Rossum, William H. Macy, Emily Bergl, Chloe Webb, Isidora Goreshter, Jeremy Allen White, Bojana Novakovic, Nichole Bloom, Shanola Hampton, and Emma Kenney. The chemistry between the cast was top notch as always, just stupendous. The makeup and hairstyling was superb especially on William H. Macy, Emily Bergl, Emma Greenwell, Isidora Goreshter, Bojana Novakovic, Noel Fisher, Nichole Bloom, Chloe Webb, Joan Cusack, Sasha Alexander, Emmy Rossum, Cameron Monaghan, Steve Howey, and Shanola Hampton. Also the music was outstanding. Can't wait to watch the next season and the five others after that. Expand

It gets stranger, or--depending on your definition of justice--it gets better.
