Well "done" and good acting. Kind of refreshing also. But there are too many exagerations and bias (especially in season 3) that quite ruin the whole thing.

Firstly it has sex in its name and is just about sex making everybody between 11 and 20 want to watch it because, it's cool, edgy. The show has no plot, you could argue season 1 had one, but I wouldn't say so. It was overly advertised on the Netflix page making many people watch it, it has jokes so stupid that they make you laugh at how terrible the writing is. Netflix is characterizing this show as a Drama, but it's nothing close to it, it's just bad writing with edgy masturbation/sex jokes. It is also presenting in such a hyperbolic light homosexual stereotypes. And it's being renewed for yet a third season because people watched it. This show is made for the masses who will watch anything that they are being fed without complaining. They watch any movie and they have no feeling towards it and they think they like it. And Netflix knows this and their money-thirst is so high that they make more and more stupid shows which are so bad, but still make money on the Marvel-overhype-type formula. Save yourself some 15 hours and don't watch this. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm surprised that this show gets so many positive reviews - when is pure propaganda. 1. season was somewhat ok - detectve-like - show, where Otis had to solve sex-related problems (1 per episode) of his collegues and that keeps you hooked. Propaganda wasn't so... 'in your face' (excluding abortion episode).

But 2. season? it's pure propaganda machine, nothing more. NO plot, no problems for Otis to solve (whole clinic ploy is pushed to background). Show's lost it's uniqness...

I can't recommend it.

The actors are actually fine, the soundtrack too, but the plot and the dialogues are way behind making the show unwatchable.

Ridiculous and teenage series about sex of teenagers. Everything in series is built in the absolute and romaticized. It will be interesting only to teenagers, the series will hardly suit more adult audience.

too much disgusting as the title indicates i mean a boy kiss a boy a girl kiss a girl Apart from the general opinion that it's really entertaining, I would like to point out that the essence of the show is to be selfish.

Using the sweetly phrased slogan 'love yourself', the younger generation is encouraged to not make compromises and deliberately hurt the feelings of those who love you. You're human when you show compassion and tolerance.

I don't understand why a teenage/ youth sitcom is encouraging people to think about or change their gender!! Woke cultural at its peak.

The first couple of seasons explored sexuality in a fun/interesting way, and the show did a good job of making you care about the characters. However, season 3 started bordering on the absurd in its effort to entertain, and the show suffers for it. Turning it into a TV-MA version of High School Musical just did not work for me -- the show works better as a dramedy. They're also making some of the characters too simplistic. Most disappointing is the new headmistress. They've turned her into this one-dimensional, draconian authoritarian. She's now making some monumentally stupid decisions which undercut her goals, and this makes no sense since she's obviously smart enough to realize that.

And Sex Ed has gone the route of many other pandemic-era shows and chosen to virtue signal. Unfortunately, this detracts from the overall narrative. They use the Cal character to beat the viewer over the head with the challenges faced by non-binary people. Cal doesn't talk like a real person; they talk like a well-intended but heavy-handed script. It takes me out of the reality they face. In contrast, the show deals with Eric's journey in a much better way by showing rather than telling/preaching. His trip to Africa is critical to his journey and the challenges he faces as an openly gay man trying to find his place in the world. His struggle with the contrast between his current relationship and what he experienced/felt on that trip rings true. This is in part because the show lets Eric (Ncuti Gatwa) *act*. With Cal (Dua Saleh), the writers rely almost entirely on exposition, and the unfortunate result is I feel I'm being preached to. If the writers want to change minds, they need to show the characters' humanity via their journey. Treating the audience like middle-school kids who need to be taught is not effective.

I haven't finished season 3, but I'm hoping the writers spend more time showing us the depth and struggles of the characters and less time preaching.

But thinking about sexuality, talking about these themes, does not necessarily mean the experience, the protagonist exemplifies this very well, being a virgin. It's not about encouraging, and whoever finds it is living in the moon world and that's it. The point is that young people are, whether we like it or not, having sex, without using condoms, having toxic relationships, among other numerous problematic issues that are real in this world of youth. Even the approach to abortion, so private and candid given the script, has to do with the question of our moralism as opposed to reality and what we need to do about it, not against it. Communication needs to happen, because while taboo is taboo, no one will learn anything. And, let's face it, it's pretty ridiculous for a virgin boy to educate his peers about sexuality. Expand

SEX EDUCATION - SEASON 2: A HEART-WARMING RETURN TO MOOREDALE HIGH!

BEIRUT: In Season 1, Otis and his friend Maeve Wiley set-up a sex clinic at school to capitalize on his intuitive talent for sex advice, and that eight-episode journey was filled with great laughs and bitter-sweet tears.

In Season 2, as a late bloomer Otis must master his newly discovered sexual urges in order to progress with his girlfriend Ola whilst also dealing with his now strained relationship with Maeve. Meanwhile, Moordale Secondary is in the throes of a Chlamydia outbreak, highlighting the need for better sex education at the school and new kids come to town who will challenge the status quo.

But that’s not all that happens this season.

Maeve and Aimee’s BFF relationship is stronger than ever since Aimee ditched ‘the Untouchables’. Eric notices his new-found self-confidence attracting unfamiliar kinds of attention.

Adam is at military school, still conflicted by his feelings for Eric.

Lily has hit pause on her sexual endeavors to focus on her creative talents and finds a new-found friend in Ola. Jackson is forced to flex his mental rather than physical muscle and is still buckling under the pressure from his parents to succeed. Jean and Jakob’s relationship is discovered and they have to learn how to operate as a blended family. Jean forms an unlikely connection with Mrs. Groff and a friendship between the two women begins to form.

Not only does Season 2 delve deeper into the characters and bring their ideologies into question, but also challenges them at every turn. There is so much that this season does right in terms of gifting the audience some tear-jerking emotional beats, great laughs, and a reminder that you have to let the people you love know that you love them, even if it causes you a great deal of pain.

The reason why this works so well is because unlike Season 1, this season expands and flexes its narrative muscles in order to allow the supporting cast to take center stage as well in order to fully flesh out the potential of earned inclusion within the story. Via the student body different aspects of sexualities are explored, including bisexuality, pansexuality, and even a platonic relationship between different genders.
Even the parents have a role to play, and those arcs are also quite touching in some cases, most specifically with Adam’s mother.

Season 2 also tackles sexual harassment in a way that is not only grounded in reality but via an arc that ends in the most heartfelt and earned way that reminds that unity is always much stronger that division.

The soundtrack is as vivid as ever and a surprising use of Sufjan Stevens’s Mystery of Love does its job in bringing on the tears.

It’s clear to say that from the day it first made its way onto Netflix, SEX EDUCATION was and still is quite a favorite among viewers. Whether it be the characters you want as your own friends, or the relatable storylines, or the overall universality of its themes, Season 2 of the series definitely earns its accolades and leaves fans wanting so much more from its now much anticipated third season.

SEX EDUCATION is now available on Netflix. The series is written and created by Laurie Nunn and produced by Eleven. Season 2 is directed by Ben Taylor, Alice Seabright and Sophie Goodhart. Jamie Campbell, Laurie Nunn and Ben Taylor are also Executive Producers on the series.

The series stars Asa Butterfield (Ender’s Game, Hugo), Gillian Anderson (The Crown, The Fall), Emma Mackey (The Winter Lake, Eiffel, Death on the Nile), Ncuti Gatwa (Stonemouth, The Last Letter From My Lover), Connor Swindells (The Vanishing, VS), Aimee Lou Wood (Louis Wain), Kedar Williams-Stirling (Will, Roots, Wolfblood), Chaneil Kular (Informer), Simone Ashley (Broadchurch), Mimi Keene (Tolkien, Close), Tanya Reynolds (Emma, Delicious), Mikael Persbrandt (Invisible Heroes, The Girl in the Spider’s Web, The Hobbit, King Arthur), Patricia Allison (Les Miserables, Moving On), Jim Howick (Broadchurch), Rakhee Thakrar (Four Weddings and a Funeral), Samantha Spiro (Game of Thrones, Tracey Ullman’s Show, Babs, Doctor Who), James Purefoy (Rome, Altered Carbon) and Alistair Petrie (Deep State, Rogue One, Night Manager).

I thought to myself "oh well, it's another show that will try to make young people think that sex is the most important thing in life". So I quit and didn't open it for 2 months, until I was so bored that out of curiosity and so much free time I gave it another chance. I was totally blown away. Started watching at 8pm, wanted a quick 1-2 episodes and finished 1st season at 3am. The show was so good, everything that was there I could relate to real life in one way or another. Next day, the moment I woke up I started watching 2nd season in one session. Now, even tho it's been 3 days, I can't wait for season 3. Idk what happened to my brain but I've fallen in love with this show. Characters, plot, problems of their world are so ejoyable to watch, I couldn't even stop to make myself something to eat. Some people may say that there is too much of an LGBT+ content, but I think it's very good that there is such a big variety, because it may teach some people that LGBT+ are still humans with emotions, which is really important to know this nowadays.
