Twisting plot! I like it! Love Ryan Phillipe in this role and Juliette Lewis plays the detective in such a solemn manner, makes me dislike her character, but she perfect for the role. Hoping to see all the episodes!

We love this show. I really like the 10 episode arc. Ryan Phillippe is great. Of course, it can be very frustrating at times...its supposed to be that way. The show keeps us coming back for more. Each episode draws you in more and more.

I love it. Although Juliette Lewis is kinda too annoying. She's a great actress, i guess I just don't like how aggressive the character is. I watched a 'marathon' and i just wanted more episodes. Waiting for the rest..

This is show is actually pretty good tv. It's entertaining and engaging and the characters are believable and likeable, with the exception of Juliette Lewis who plays here character a bit too over-the-top. Like most crime/mystery shows, sometimes you have to suspend your belief, but that doesn't happen too often.
Had I not seen the reviews that were skewed too low, I would have given this

This is the best show on ABC. I'm really hoping for a continuation of the show. I loved the twists and plots in the show. It really had me guessing who did it.

I dont understand the bad reviews i really dont. Its a great show with a great plot and good actors its refreshing seeing something like this. im sick and tired of seeing shows with 3 judges doing something lame like cooking in a kitchen or another lame season of a scripted survivor or some singing show . Its good to see a great show like this

We love the show and think Ryan Phillipe has become a really good actor and very convincing in the role. Juliette Lewis plays the cold, determined and relentless detective perfectly. We are hoping for a second season! I usually do not like murder mysteries but in this case I have my popcorn in hand when the show starts. Thanks ABC for another good show.

OK , So I was starting to get annoyed with the writing but episode 8 was the change this fledgling show needed & episode 9 is another step in a great direction. Juliette Lewis is amazing in this role & finally Ryan Phillipe is well cast for a role & is dong a great job. I will definitely be tuning in & can't wait to see where this one ends & how they'll continue it into a second season ,OK , So I was starting to get annoyed with the writing but episode 8 was the change this fledgling show needed & episode 9 is another step in a great direction. Juliette Lewis / Jessica Lange , two brilliant performers that I love to watch !

The paternal ties to the dead child and the extramarital affair with the child's mother add to the complexity of the crime in this attractive suburban neighborhood. Both the high quality exterior and interior shots seem more like a feature film than a television series. There is nothing particularly original here in the story but Lewis' interpretation of the unrelenting detective who is both annoying and fascinating to watch in action, along with Phillipe's restrained performance as the alleged victim suspected of killing the child, make this two more reasons to watch Secrets and Lies Expand

    Garbage.
Insulting to the intellect of a first-grader.
A painter without a drop of paint on his shirt, pants, arms, or hands. Incredibly neat. An expressionless detective. A robot could have played this character. Why set the table for dinner with daughters? They never finish a meal. 100% of the community judges the primary character guilty from the day he finds the body. Nice

This would be a decent show if it weren't for Juliette Lewis. She looks bad, her acting is bad. Ryan is really good. KaDee Strickler is great. Probably won't watch again.

I don't know where this story is going but I have come to simply not care. It drags on and on with everyone acting like jerks. Only the automaton police detective remains consistent in her behavior. I don't know why Ryan hasn't taken a punch at her tiny little face yet but I figure that as the show stretches on and on that punch is probably lurking in the near future. I will miss it. Expand

Worst crime show with whom I thought to be two great actors, worst acting job I've ever seen, the best acting is from people I've never heard of before. By far Juliette Lewis and Ryan Phillipe's worst. I keep trying to like it but It's just not going to happen. Unbelievable!

It is still entertaining to watch Ben, the accused main character played by Ryan Phillippe, run (literally) around the neighborhood and accuse a different person each week. He is relentlessly pursued by Detective Crawford (Juliette Lewis). I initially made fun of Juliette's performance and wondered why her face looked all weird. After seeing the entire season though I enjoyed Crawford the most. I also liked Ben but his constantly making the worse decisions possible made him hard to sympathize with. Some times I just wanted to shake him. There apparently will be a season 2 with Juliette reprising the character of Crawford but everything else (the story and the other characters) will be new. Cant say that I will be watching next year. It just depends on the story. Expand

Every episode is spent on the edge of your seat! You spend the entire length of the episode changing your theories and thoughts about characters. As this season ended I just can't wait for season 2 and hope like crazy there will be!

A friend told me about this show so I begun to watch it 2 weeks ago and then I watched every episodes in a row. It was so entertained I couldn’t miss on piece of it.
I've really liked Ryan Lewis in the Lincoln Lawyer (so at the beginning I thought he was a bad person) and Juliette Lewis in Conviction. I was glad and not disappointed at all to find the two of them in this new TV show.

Finally, I really appreciate that the plot "ends" in the last episode.. Of course it's not the end of the show but I have my answers, it's like a very long movie.
I strongly recommended secrets and lies!!

Secrets and Lies suffers from an American tendency to speed up and overplay, to force emotion rather than evoke it. Just as suspicion takes a little time to grow and spread, so does sophistication. But this series seems to be in a very big hurry to be over, which almost guarantees that audiences will be too.

Ryan Phillippe does the blank thing well. Juliette Lewis, once American cinema's liveliest eccentric, is drained of life.... This show runs ten weeks. I'm out.
