It is far, far better than that hoky Supergirl. Let's give it a chance and see what the eleven episodes bring. Hey Fox network, why don't you let a audience develop before you pull the plug. Expand

This show has something, it needs to develop, unfortunately the only actor in this show that i am having trouble with is the lead.....love the twins. Got to this show purely by accident, keep the quirky ness in the old man is a treat.

We meet Jimmy Pritchard. He's a 75 year old hard living man. Pritchard was previously sheriff of King County, Washington but was forced to resign due to corruption charges some 15 years earlier. He has a difficult relationship with his family. Enter the Goodwin twins (Otto and Mary). They run a technology company called Lookinglass. Otto mysteriously notifies Mary of a "suitable donor"-- one in a gazillion to one genetic mutation. And we're off to the races.

Jimmy awakes to find he's no longer an elderly man. He's a super buffed (and super strong) twenty something. He has some challenges adjusting but soon decides he likes this body. NewJimmy quickly hooks up with a prostitute from his previous life

His old priorities were women, booze, music, work and family (maybe in that order). Now that he has a second chance, Jimmy wants to right some wrongs and protect his family. I wont give the specifics away so as not to ruin it for ya.

I'm surprised at how much I enjoyed the show. The pilot is fast paced. Rob Kazinsky is a compelling lead as Sheriff Pritchard. He's best known (at least to me) as Warlow in "True Blood". Jimmy's possible relationship with Mary also has potential. I'm not sure how long the show can keep it up but the pilot was a lot of fun. "Second Chance" definitely deserves a second look.

I have been a fan of Rand Ravich's other series, "Life" and "Crisis," so I was curious about "Second Chance." The pilot gets off to a rocky, and somewhat boring, start. But I liked the way it picked up in the later parts of the episode. There is some potential here to be an interesting series. But it kind of depends on the way it develops, especially in terms of characters. And I think it throws you off to have it be a "modern re-telling of Frankenstein" because it's not really that kind of story. Expand

I'm really enjoying the show with the 'impossible' made believable story of a dad having a second chance. There are a few minor issues as with any show but I think this has great possibilities and want to see it stay on for a while.

This show started out decent, got better and ended great with a tantalizing hint at the direction of a second season. I hope FOX allows that to happen.

Fun crime, drama and variety. Good mix of sexual tension with main character also. Very enjoyable for couples to enjoy. I look forward to every episode so far.

Another Fox show sure to be cancelled. Truly unfortunate because it is actually something original and not just another copycat hospital show, banal reality show, or procedural cop drama that seems to be all that is available on TV these days. Too bad this show got put on FOX and not another network. Seems like nothing good that they air seems to stay on for long.

Pretty good for the moment don't let it be canceled after the first season any decent tv-show needs to run for at least 2 seasons to be determined if it should be canceled or not !!

Great Great show! I really hope they don't cancel this one! The last episode looked like it might be the last. Seems like the good shows get canceled, and are replaced with dumb shows.

The tech twins were a nice touch and their character development was stunning throughout. You will like this once it's available for streaming and the ending is such that it satisfies even if the show doesn't get a second season.

Started promising but lost its promise halfway with the main story becoming repetitive and predictable and the cases became weaker with every episode. The father-son issues were played out starting interesting but are being drawn out as if it had to last until the finale. Too bad as the premise was fantastic and the tech very interesting.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If you like SciFi, if you are addicted not only to classics like Star Trek & BSG, but also to Stargate franchise, Colony, The Tomorrow People, The 100, Revolution, Limitless, Alphas, Almost human, Minority report etc, you must not miss this gem.
There is only one reason why this is 8 and not 10:
    - Rand Ravich concocted a beautiful story, but pushed in to much characters to be able to tell story of each character in depth in 40-45 minutes of episode length, there are (in total) 9 main characters:
father and son Pritchard and Goodwin twins are leading roles, but in support roles we are having:
    1. Gracie Pritchard, daughter/grand-daughter
    2. Helen Pritchard, sister
    3. Alexa, secretary
    4. Alexa's husband
    5. Connor Graff
There are more, recurring characters like Duval Pritchard's boss and guests, but they are not taking much screen time, so they are OK, but what bothers me is that father and son Pritchard got enough screen time, and they are using it to the full extent, Robert Kazinsky is charming as Jimmy, Tim DeKay almost reprised his role from White collar as FBI agent, and although DeKay is not De Niro, he is convincing and well chosen for his role. Dialogues between Duval and Jimmy are fun, face expressions of Duval/DeKay are fun to watch, he is REAL character actor, fun to watch (yes, I know that I'm repeating myself).
Dilshad Vadsaria as Mary Goodwin is perfect match, but she and her twin Otto got to less screen time, so Otto's story is fully revealed finally in 9th or 10th episode, which is clearly mistake, as how can audience connect with main characters if it doesn't know important facts about them for full two months?
(I realize that in time of streaming TV & TiVo lot of people do binge watching whole seasons over weekend, but if you are TV series lead, what you expect to be your ratings if you do not allow your audience to know your characters fully, or at least, good enough in first 4 or 5 episodes?
You would think that after Lost every TV writer would learn it's lesson, but it seems some still do not understand this: people need to connect to characters, to empathize, to either like them or hate them, but how can you like or hate somebody if you do not know him/her, if you do not understand him/her?
Dilshad Vadsaria is beautiful, I would like if she would in next episodes get more screen time, but casting her & Otto and giving them not enough lines to explain themselves is simply a shame.
Imagine Richard & Kahlan from Legend of the Seeker instead of current actors, or just swap Craig Horner for Otto, and you would need less lines for more sympathy (of course, Mary & Otto are siblings, so there is no need for sexual tension between them, but there is always need for good pairing).
Or if there is a need to escape all white cast, have Blair Underwood as Otto and problem is solved.

Simply put, Pritchard family got enough screen time to be likable, other, in the first place Goodwin family - not. That can be solved in two ways - get extremely likable actors, or second - give them enough screen time and lines to explain themselves, so public can like them for who they are.
With Mary problem is not so pronounced, as she's at first few episodes dying of cancer, which must draw compassion for her, and after few episodes when she shows that behind her role of CEO of company alike Facebook & Google in one is a woman who deeply loves and cares for her brother, and who is able to not only connect, but to be smart and compassionate enough to attract "loose canon" Jimmy Pritchard.
Taylor Cole had a guest role in one episode as elite prostitute, who is maybe a bit to clever to be just a hooker, although elite one. That episode is a real gem, conversation between Dilshad Vadsaria and Taylor Cole is both written and played at a big screen level.

Series is also quite realistic, although most of main characters are having transparent mobile phones, Duval is having "a old one", not transparent.
Conclusion - Rand Ravich made quality project, but he needs episodes of 60 minutes without commercials to tell us whole story. He could still learn a thing or two from creators of The Good Wife, how to have a great story, to tell it in limits of 40 minutes per episode and with 4-6 main characters. You can have more, but add them when you get contract for the second season.

My wife and I don't watch that much television, but this show captured the interest of both of us. While there are some moments- editing or directing-wise- that don't always work, we watched the entire season together! We really enjoy this show and sincerely hope FOX brings it back for Season Two! Love the cast and the unique concept and storylines.
