I was skeptical at first - how could possible mix two different genres successfully? Nevertheless, I watched the show to see if it would come through.

    To my surprise, it did.

The actors are all simply amazing. There are people that say Emma Roberts is a bad actress, but those people don't see the different between a "mean girl" character and a bad actress. What Emma Roberts was in Scream Queens was a "mean girl" character, and she played her role very well. All of the actors did, really.

The story itself is very interesting. I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll just say there's a lot of mystery, comedy, and scary scenes (but not gory to the point where it'll give you nightmares). I really have to acknowledge how great the writers did - the scenes that are supposed to be funny are hilarious, and the scenes that are supposed to be scary can be downright terrifying and/or shocking (depending on the scene). The mystery, unlike many other shows, is actually very engaging. At the end of the episode, I was literally asking so many questions about the mysteries in this show, and I can't wait for the next episode.

This is my very first review. I saw so many people down talking this show because they thought it would be American Horror Story: Part 2, but I don't want people to be mislead by these reviews. And to those reviewers-

This is NOT American Horror Story. This is meant to be a horror-comedy and it exceeds with flying colors at what it's trying to do. If you want a dark, twisted, horror movie stretched out into a series, then go back to watching American Horror Story. If you want to watch Scream Queens, please try to view it as what it is rather than what it's not. What you're doing is like trying to watch Spongebob and getting pissed off that it isn't like The Little Mermaid.

Eu gostei muito do Scream Queens, SQ é um humor negro que mostra a personalidade psicopata de algumas muitas pessoas que não se consideram perversas como na vida real só que com uma historia mas interessante, mostra o potencial da geração atual e horrorizar

This is a fun show to watch. The A-list cast and the engaging story all make up for a good TV show which network television seems to lack right now. You get to see freaking Nick Jonas and Ariana Grande. The silly plot that doesn't make sense is Ryan Murphy's signature which i like. Overall, I recommend it.

This show is far too Made-for-TV for its own good. To be effective it should be made for FX and not standard FOX. It has its moments and the acting is okay. Some of the dialogue and situation are pretty funny, but some of the makeup effects are downright silly. So far, not such a great show. Have to give it some time to see where it goes.

"All over the place" is probably the right term to describe this show. It feels like Ryan Murphy is trying to combine Glee's bad one liner joke with AHS style in telling horror story and throwing a little bit PLL-esque mystery. Some of the acting performances are a little bit over the top for me and the way these characters are written seems to be trying so hard to get this show an Emmy.

You have the typical stuck up sorority president, the college dean that is out to get them, and the underdog pledges who really shouldn't be trying to get into the sorority in the first place. And yet, it takes all of these things and

While I understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, some of the ones I have read seem to be missing the entire "point" of the show. Many of them remark on the fact that the show is a "parody" as if they watched the show not realizing that, that is exactly what it is supposed to be.

Now, as someone who went into the show fully expecting this and fully CRAVING it, I can tell others that the show is pretty decent. The story is completely unique and the characters are over the top, which I personally like very much. Some people find the characters annoying and go as far as to say that "no character is likable at all," but I disagree. A character doesn't have to be "nice" to be a likable character. I think Chanel Oberlin played by Emma Roberts and Cathy Munsch played by Jamie Lee Curtis are VERY likable characters. Especially if you enjoy their fantastic performances as scheming, conniving and literal ****

The deaths in the show come quick, which was surprising to me, even for a horror show. They killed off a couple characters I was actually looking forward to knowing. Though, given this is a show made by the same people behind American Horror Story: Coven, for all I know, the deaths in the show are all staged and people will come back alive and well. Right now, however, while this remains to be seen, I am leaning more to the side of knocking the show for killing off characters too early and too frequently.

Also, the show is not as funny as I thought it would be. Rarely did I ever really laugh out loud. Most of the time, I find myself gasping in shock that the show is saying some of the politically incorrect things that it does and then I snicker a bit. This was probably the most disappointing aspect about the show. However, I definitely found myself engrossed in the plot and wanting to know more. Scream Queens definitely has me hooked on its murder mystery.

Overall, the show is not without its flaws, but regardless, it is solid and absolutely worth watching. It is for those looking for a simple comedy that is seemingly very straightforward on the surface, but when the plot is examined, the show is given a whole extra level of depth. In fact, the plot is the best aspect. If you watch the first two episodes of Scream Queens wanting to know the answers to this riddle-filled thriller, then the show is for you.

I give a 9, this show is hilarious and showed the type of joke I like. I don't give 10 cuz there's some points where the show is weak (side of horror), but it is one of the best serie I had watch in 3 years. It's impossible to care about any of the characters, the lead character is very bland and the humour the show has although slightly quirky at times at the beginning quite quickly becomes boring and annoying.

The acting is not so attractive, but some of the dialogue is nice. Emma Roberts is proving again to be bad actress, although this kind of roles suits her the best. The idea and the plot is hugely used, but I still have a hope there is a change or twist or something new on the way. For a first episode, I wasn't quite impressed, but I wasn't bored of it either. It's not bad or good either and I think it would be far more great if it would be more serious and have different actors. But main things:

    Pros:
    - Location
    - Funny dialogue sequences
    - Variety of murders
    - Ending cliffhanger-sequences

    Cons:
    - Blended Acting
    - Emma Roberts as a protagonist
    - The killer...
    - Annoying relationships based of sloppy dialogue.

All in all, this is not really what I expected from the creators, but I find it challenging and still promising.

Trying to mesh together comedy with murder (or, at least the way the show was presented) doesn't work well and it comes off almost as a parody. Take for example, Chanel #2's death. She texts the killer to stop after he stabs her in the shoulder which is ridiculous. It was a bit humorous at first but ultimately it was just unnecessary. Also note that Ariana's acting just isn't good. Chanel's b*tchy attitude is everywhere to be seen and it gets exhausting. Grace is also a bit annoying; she's the character that nobody wants to see but she's always on screen anyway. There's no actual character that's truly unanimously likeable which is disappointing. Overall it's fairly funny and enjoyable but it can't really be seen as hilarious or ingenius. There are lots of flaws and I'm not sure if it would appeal to the general public. The main demographic targeted seems to be teens. It's a shame because it could've been a hilarious great TV show. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The main problem with Scream Queens is that it tries to be a self referential horror comedy like Scream, or more accurately Scary Movie, but it lacks the knowledge of the genre. Where it tries to stand out by having the typical 'final girl' character not be the protagonist, it fails by instead following the queen bee type character who dies by the halfway point in a horror movie. This could have worked if they actually put some effort into humanising the character. Unfortunately she is the kind of character you root against.

Another area in which the show fails is its attempts at comedic stereotyping. It is clear that the creators intended to mock the stereotypes, at least I hope that is what they were trying to do, but instead seem to actively push them. The show's portrayals of minority groups are appalling to the point where the only comedy comes from if you believe the offensive stereotypes. One example is the deaf girl who thinks she can sing but can't. That is all her character is. She is there to be mocked by the audience because she is deaf and doesn't know she can't sing. In fact, her death even involves the rest of the girls hearing and being aware of the killer but her disability leaving her unaware of her incoming doom. The execution of the death is so uncomfortable as well, her obliviousness is pushed for comedy to the point where we are expected to laugh at her as if she is an idiot for having her disability. There are plenty of other unfunny stereotypes, such as the fat Hispanic maid whose life is portrayed as less important than a girl's chance of getting into a sorority (again, it seems like they were commenting on something here but the execution suggests we should agree with the rich white girl's view point) and the gay guy who lust after straight guys (unapologetically portrayed by the king of queerbaiting himself, Nick Jonas). The only noteworthy portrayal would be Keke Palmer playing a black student who isn't a stereotype of a black woman (although there is another character that plays that role).

One final criticism is the show's overall humour. This can be summed up in the first episode during Ariana Grande's character's death. This involves her coming face to face (or mask) with the costumed killer and proceeding to flirt with them through texting whilst they make it clear they are going to kill her. It gets even worse when she attempts to call for help by writing a Facebook status about her being murdered, getting stabbed through the skull before she can hit send and then moments later coming back to life to hit send and then die again. Once again, this can only be justified by thinking it is an attempt at social commentary on modern culture's digital communication but given the target audience it makes no sense to have done so and, as always, the execution is off.

To sum up, it is clear that this show is an attempt on subverting an already heavily subverted genre and it deserves recognition for trying. However, it fails tremendously with its lack of understanding of both horror and comedy, not forgetting that it is regularly just plain offensive (which is surprising given the creator's background of inclusive and positive portrayals of oppressed group's in the past).

At its best, Scream Queens challenges our motives for empathizing with outcasts in the first place. When it specifically targets younger generations on that front, it feels fresh.
