Amazing series! Funny, heart warming, and excellent cast. Everyone plays such a different, quirky role, but they all do so well with it. I highly recommend watching this show.

This show grows on you like a stray pet you didn't think you wanted or would love as much as you do.

I thought this would be a B-grade knockoff of Arrested Development when I first started watching. The similarities were there.
This show grows on you like a stray pet you didn't think you wanted or would love as much as you do.

I thought this would be a B-grade knockoff of Arrested Development when I first started watching. The similarities were there. Self-centered, dysfunctional, rich family out of touch with the real world loses everything and has to figure how to cope. But here's a HUGE difference: growth and sentimentality. These characters aren't unredeemable. They actually change in positive ways (while still hanging on to some old ways, mind you - the contrast makes for more funny), and make human connections that matter. Both within the family and outside of. The jokes are still droll and low-key (until Chris Elliot shows up like an anvil on your head - he tones down as the show progresses though). But as you get to know the characters you'll find yourself laughing out loud without the punchlines, just because the characters, delivery and context are very funny. And there are some genuinely sweet moments that will make you "aww" and even tear up.

If you can't push through season one, watch it in the background and hang in there. It's worth it. Schitt's Creek is a fish out of water tale in which the fish grow feet and learn to walk on land. It manages a careful balance between cringe and compassion, more and more successfully as the series progresses.

I wanted to like this so much. I love Chris Elliott and Judd Hirsch. Just kidding, I know it's Eugene Levy. Is this one of those improvisational shows where they don't have a script and we're counting on the actors to carry it? Well, STOP IT!I wanted to like this so much. I love Chris Elliott and Judd Hirsch. Just kidding, I know it's Eugene Levy. Is this one of those improvisational shows where they don't have a script and we're counting on the actors to carry it? Well, STOP IT! Get a writer. Most actors cannot write, so don't set them up for failure. I will still try to get through this but it hurts because there is so little that is funny about it. I don't know how you ruin a Levy/Elliott/O'Hara vehicle but they have. Expand

An escape from the harsh world we live in, Schitt’s Creek is a world without bigotry. In times like the pandemic, this show truly finds its stride.

Everyone's rich and spoiled and has mental illness, haw haw. But maybe if they try, they can discover that they are queer just as we know every single person is, and this will be their redemption for some reason. I watched the entire first season back to back, laughing once. Very boring, hence the score. Expand

We are so proud of this show in Canada and especially in Toronto where it was filmed. To see legends like O'hara and Levy get their due is critical but to see a well-thought out and written gay relationship and love story is sooooo inspiring. We are so proud of this show in Canada and especially in Toronto where it was filmed. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. SEASON 5 REVIEW: Schitt's Creek's 5th season really shows us how far these beloved characters have come since we were first introduced to them. I couldn't help but tear up at how David has grown and finally found the love he longed for in the wonderful Patrick. Their engagement was perfect and unexpected, but such an earned moment for the series and these characters. Alexis has done so much growing up, too; putting the needs of the ones she loves in front of her own when neccessary and really coming into her own as a young woman. However, my favourite is Stevie, who's a bit of a late-bloomer and is finally seeing her own potential, delivering a wonderful performance in the season finale "Life is a Cabaret", a hint at what more could be in store for her beyond the motel life. I can't wait to see the Roses and their loved ones in the upcoming season, and I know all good things come to an end, but it's sad such a brilliant show has to do just that... Expand

It's probably one of my favourite shows. It's funny, the acting is good and it has a lot of heart. Nothing too deep, but fun.

Lots of fun! Entertaining, witty, well paced, full of punchy jokes that generally don't drag on for too long. Everything one can look for in a show
