Not sure what's going on with the critics' praises, but this is just a 6 at best. It has an entertaining story, but nothing compelling nor moving.

There’s something missing from Run, which is not as funny as it needs to be to make the premise work. The leads are wonderful actors but can’t do enough to pull it off.

Poor chemistry between the two leads and a flimsy premise. There also doesn’t seem to be a good reason for this show to exist. Meanwhile, since it’s on HBO, it’s still somehow watchable. Not memorable though.
