I love the theme it brings, about embracing change and accepting that society is changing
It's one of my favorite childhood cartoons, I loved being able to see it again

The user reviews for this are hilariously meta because they’re literally proving the point of this way-better-than-it-should-be special. People are so afraid of change and this special tackles it head-on, refusing to spare all those who will cry “but it’s not the same cartoon I remember from the 90s.”

Genuinely impressed they didn’t rely simply on nostalgia, instead attempting to tell a real story with a real point. The animation remains fantastic, the voice acting superb and the inside jokes are plentiful. Don’t be fooled by user reviews on this one, it’s well worth your time.

Still made with just as much love as the original, but maybe relies too much on nostalgia, and was a bit overpoliticized. But it's self aware, and funny as always. :)

I had recently gotten into Rocko's Modern Life because I was a fan of other shows that came out around the same time such as Are You Afraid of the Dark or All That. After watching the original series, I saw that Netflix released a new special with the original writing staff.

And... Well... it is really not what you would want to watch if you are a fan. There are moments that I just never wanted to see again and made me consider drinking bleach and then falling off a cliff, but I then realized that I should give it a shot anyway. The writing, while commendable, has not really gotten the edge of what the original had in mind. There were way too many political moments for me to care and the plot didn't keep me engaged to keep going.

Now I wish I had done so.

this "short film reboot" was awesome until they just have to do it, shut the transgender theme up our throats, please, I know it's marketing but can I have a normal show for once?

Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling has a good story but, I do not think they should put in modern politics in things like this, Why are people adding social social justice to kids cartoons at this point it feels like propaganda aimed at kids to make kids think the way they do. I think these should be opinions that people make on their own over time instead of having them forced down your throat.

A successful and satisfying work of animated art. They are crass only in their humor.

Static Cling maintains the original show’s look, sound, and aesthetic perfectly (although Philbert appears a bit off-model at times). It takes a moment to get reacquainted with the show’s energy and pacing, which is a bit slower and more easygoing than one might remember, but by the time Rocko, Heffer, and Philbert land back in O-Town, you’ll feel right at home.

May be one of Netflix’s weirdest decisions yet. But this 45-minute special will likely be welcomed with open arms by fans of the show, which blended anti-capitalist messaging with loopily surreal animation.
