I love the characters, the dialogue is funny and creative and the story is cool too. Its an awesome Resident Evil and Zombies/Monster Show and i cant wait for Season 2.

The time jumps might bei a bit off at first. But it is one of the best series finals I have seen for a Long time. It is defiantly worth watching Till the end. I think alot of people are too fixated on the games story and keep comparing it. But when has any RE film adaption been true to the games, it hasnt. Zombies and the bio engineered monsters that you see are amazingly well done. Great story following the twins and wesker's and kept me hooked from start to finish. I do think alot of people are being far too critical and have maybe gotten used to the zombie genre so no longer find it scary or horror, well I do. I have been waiting for a new great series and this is it! I'm hooked and can't wait for season 2. Forget the story from the games and don't be a negative Andy and just enjoy a great show for what it is. And what it is, is amazing! It has everything and can only get better with more episodes.… Expand

this review is very odd for me to write, however, Resident Evil (2022) have proven to be engaging, interisting, entertaining and thrilling, it had a rough start, but it all it did was to make me set my expectations very, very low.

Sou brasileiro.
A série é muito boa, pra quem acha que é lixo, remova a parte "Resident Evil" do nome, e assista novamente.
Já vimos muitas séries e filmes mal feitos, com histórias praticamente inexistentes, mas eles pelo menos tentaram.Sou brasileiro.

I thought the acting and story was compelling. I haven’t played the games much before though (I was too scared after a dog jumped out at me!) but I do know a small amount about the lore so many be that’s why I enjoyed it and others didn’t?

I can say that it's an uneven thrill ride. The story starts in a futuristic timeline, where our heroine endures a gauntlet of lethal threats. Suddenly, things flash back to present day, when she and her sister are coping with their teen life before dealing with the more deadly future. There are giant killer animals, raging "zombies," lots of meanies, dark passages and hostile locations. Through it all are some great action sequences, but there are also extended discussions about the world that drag things down. This could have been tighter, but there's still plenty of gory outrageousness to keep the franchise pumping. (8 one-hour eps)… Expand

If you're grown up enough to live in the year 2022 and not limited to the original RE universe, it's far better than the amount of 0 reviews might suggest. On the contrary, the occurrence of discriminated groups and contemporary topics do not play a big role in the story, therefor it does not even make sense as a point of valid criticism with so many other aspects. Yet, the pure visibility alone is an enormous help for the affected people.… Expand

Longtime fan of the games. This series varies significantly from the games but does add lots of new ideas. Season feels fairly low budget but despite that manages to achieve a lot. With the release of Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, it was more than obvious that Netflix wasn't going to do the same. But I also never anticipated they would take the route they did.

Because this show is many, many things, but it's definitely not Resident Evil.
You can take liberties with the source material, but what they did was basically spit on that source material.

The script is an abysmal. There's just terrible dialogue all around.
The characters are soporific. The narrative structure is a goddamned mess, because the 8 long episodes just jump from the past to the future constantly, which shreds any attempt at cohesion.

I don't think this series is going to get a second season. It doesn't deserve it in my opinion, and this for the simple reason that these 8 episodes gave me no reason to believe I wanted to keep watching this.
I finished it because I don't left things unfinished, but in all honesty, this was a brutal disappointment, one of the worst series Netflix has ever produced and they are notorious for producing garbage. Be warned.… Expand

Primitive, childish writing. Bad characters that make you wish them get torn in to pieces by zombies for their idiotic inconsistent behavior. Mediocre actors and CG, too much cheap drama.

I genuinely thought there couldn't be a worse adaptation of resident evil than Paul Anderson's version that exists solely to show off how awesome he thinks his wife is. I was wrong. This show's plot is a boring convoluted nightmare with holes deeper and darker than the mines in re 4. Gotta throw the guy who played Wesker? Weskers? A bone he did a great job with the awful script he was given if it weren't for him this would get a one from me. Terrible generic teen drama parasiting off the success of an awesome.series of games. Netflix screws the pooch for the five billionth time.… Expand

Instead we are sent on an adventure with a possibly the most selfish and annoying character ever conceived. Jade’s story is full of questionable choices, reckless actions that put everyone at risk yet she always manages to stay fine regardless, making her story very predictable and safe, distancing from horror genre towards.. well I don’t really know what but something bad, reminding me of communal dinners at my junior high in Eastern Europe. One of the most appealing aspects of the series is the entanglement of the past and present, allowing viewers the a bit more insight into the story as well as characters. Unfortunately, two out of three main characters are just written so poorly, that the whole series can be summed up in a single sentence: “Use contraception.” Typical rebel-phase teens filled to the brim with edginess make the characters so unlikeable that I genuinely rooted for everyone but them. Combine that with teen hackers, long segments of playing Sherlock Holmes, Mean Girls style school drama and omnipotence of girls and what we have is a disaster incarnate. The only positive aspect of this series was the character of Albert Wesker, which was brought to live by brilliant Lance Reddicks. Possibly the only saving point of this series. But apart of that, it is a hot mess.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm not sure why the writers of the show thought it was necessary to show the background of the two teenage girl characters. This side of the season is so boring and so CW like that I literally sighed out loud every time it went back to this timeline. Not that the "current" timeline of the post apocalyptic scenes are any better. At least they are semi watchable. Here is a summary of basically every "current timeframe" episode.
Step 1: Jade must go somewhere.
Jade meets a bunch of characters.
Jade gets attacked and all the new characters get attacked.
All characters die except Jade magically.
Jade (oh no) is captured and must escape. Return to step 1.… Expand

Watch first episode and 2, Its an Extremely bad written Teen drama basically with wasted talented actors, lots of cringy,random and awkward lines. Feels like the writers don't know how to socialize at all. Main Character comes off extremely unlikeable , Not because of her acting which seems fine, but more of the writers fault which you will see with many of the characters. Lance Reddick, while a great actor is very much miscasted as the villian role here as this can be seen especially in the parent teacher confidence where he doesn't come of threating when he is supposed to. Special Effects are terrible throughout the show. As to the "wokeness" aspect people are complaining about, in the very beginning they do try to make political statements using the town bluntly. Id imagine there is some half baked political commentary in the rest of the show but I only really watched to see how bad it is and everyone is right, don't give this show anymore views then it deserves.… Expand

Just have four or five Weskers, and occasionally thrown in Evelyn as an antagonist, maybe also that head of security guy, and some random Umbrella grunts. Perfect sitcom material. Have a laughtrack and everything. That would have been a lot better than what we got with this show, which completely botches the climax of the plot when we find out Billie is controlling Evelyn with an iPad or some **** and she wanted to "get rid of the past because it sucks" or whatever. It was really stupid! Waste of time. I recommend skipping everything other than the Wesker clone material because it's legit pretty funny.… Expand

Terribly casted save for wesker who seems to be where the budget went. The plot relies on the protagonist being consistently bad with decision making which gets others killed and needs umbrella to be just incompetent in order to move the poorly written narrative along. Are we seriously supposed to belive that a multibillion dollar pharmaceutical company only has a single security measure on its arguably most valuable lab that can be defeated by a voice recording? That they wouldnt station any guards on site? A highly dangerous test subject has only one lock on its cage with no backups to prevent it escaping? The guards they do have are brilliant, let me tell you. They have great plans such as being behind the person they want to capture and that person not knowing they're there so they make sure to yell "hey" and walk 20 feet to the unarmed target making sure to use the entire walk up time to draw their weapon so he can grab it when they get there.

Imagine if there was an adaptation of Lord of the Rings, but it took place AFTER the events of the Lord of the Rings novel in a place called "New Middle-Earth". None of the original characters from the novels is part of this adaptation, with the exception of Sauron, who it turns out is a clone of the original Sauron. He is joined by his two elvish daughters, Billie and Jade, who spend the bulk of the series harassing their father and making every waking moment of his life miserable. Joined by these two elvish teenagers are 3 hobbits names Gary, Stu, and Billy Bob. They make a few references to the events of the books, but none of the characters ever make an appearance. Instead of going on adventures or exploring the lands of New Middle-Earth, most of the drama centers around Billie and Jade dealing with a recent move to the new kingdom, and constantly complaining about how much they miss the old Middle-Earth. The land is infested with Orcs, and the one of the elvish sisters is trying to figure out how to stop them from attacking towns and villages, but central theme of the show is about how working too hard means it's hard to take care of your family. Absolutely Abhorrent.
Even the movies are better than this, this is a new low for resident evil as an IP.
The only things you'll enjoy about this show, are some of the creature designs and even then... they're pretty barebones and lacklustre.

I spent that last couple weeks cramming all the older Resident Evil media i could get my hands on. specifically in this instance thats the Resident Evil 2 Remake, the Resident Evil 3 Remake, and Resident Evil 4 (IMHO the good ones). I'll start with the things I like. Lance Reddick, great actor, loved him in Fringe. I do not believe that actors are bad actors. I think the casting that chose them is a little weird when their younger self doesn't match the older self, but the people who played the roles are capable. Thus, the script writer and director I think are not. I have never hated a hero so much as Jade (not a knock on actor who played her, she was given a script and then poorly directed on how to play it) but dear Lord. Jade sucks. she's just a self-centered, hate-filled kid. Billie wears baggie clothes and is a thinly veiled reference to Billie Eilish's baggie clothes phase. In fact, every song picked is sort of from that genre of music, without actually paying the royalties to Billie Eilish herself. They don't want to recreate the events of any of the games, so this takes place allegedly around the time the 4th or 5th game would have taken place in an alternate universe where the Raccoon City incident was covered up. In the original version of the story the bombing was not unknown to everyone outside Raccoon City, because that would be StOoPiD. you can't cover up a mushroom cloud when its visible in all directions from all sides and there is nuclear fallout. Well, this show pretends they could cover something like that up. Its StOoPiD, but they do it.

So the tale is split into 2 timelines. The time before an apocalyptic societal collapse following Albert Wesker and his 2 daughters Jade and Bille, and then a time 20-ish years later after the apocalyptic societal collapse due to the T-virus being unleashed where Jade is the hero and her sister is the villain and their father Albert Wesker is dead. Albert Wesker was a antagonist throughout the RE games, and a total cartoon character. Basically, the Wesker in this show is a clone of that character. I'm not even going to comment on the race swapping that has taken place because personally whether a character is faithful to the original perfectly is not what matters to me. What does matter to me, is the story any good? Not here its not. Jade is a selfish ass who hates her dad because "reasons." Her sister Billie is a animal rights activist who thinks her dad is doing experiments on animals. So Jade and Bille invade his place of work where a zombie dog bites Billie and infects her. Interestingly, it does not kill her. This clone of Albert Wesker made changes to Bille and Jade in utero that made them have resistance to the T-virus. Also, because of the way he age due to being a clone, he needs their blood as a "elixir" to preserve his life. So, he's a vampire? Unclear. Its dumb. I lost braincells when I watched that. And Jade and Bille are snotty when they finds out their dad is dying and needs their blood to live, they basically say they hope he dies. Dude. Has the writer never observed a parent and child relationship? Maybe this was written by robots who don't know what a family is. Dude, my dad says to me he needs blood transplants from me to live, even if he had kept it hidden from me for years and years, YES! GREAT! Let's save dad, cause he loves us and provides for us. To the writers... WHO HURT YOU?!

And there is no clear reason for why these kids are so terrible only that they appear to have "be an horrible person" on their daily vision board. To wrap up this segment on the first timeline, most of this 1st season consists of clips of these kids on a preteen detective adventure. The tone of the show can not decide where this is a show about survival, or a show about kids and family. I can't describe how bad it makes the show come off. I do not have the language to describe how bad these 2 tones clash. Either Jade is using the boy who has a crush on her to get what she wants, or they are invading dad's privacy and jeopardizing his job. 1/10 stars they are bad kids. Just evil, unlovable children.

Then there is Jade as an adult. STILL AN JERK. Still thinks about herself and what she wants. But now I'm supposed to identify with her because she's a mom and trying to save the world. She gets LOTS of people unnecessarily killed avoiding her sister. 95% of the death in the adult timeline would never have happened except for Jade. And then there is the Texas Chainsaw Massacre moment they throw in, because "reasons," which again completely does not match the rest of the tone of the show. The ultimate message of the show is delivered by Jade and Billie's dad's OTHER clone "Bert" who says, "your dad loves you, its a messed up love, but isn't all love messed up?" Yea. OK.… Expand

I have respect for the cast, crew, FX artists, and all who put the series together. The thing I just cannot understand is, who is reading these scripts and approving them? Does no one sleep on it? Who are they focus testing on?? The split story is not compelling. There are so many logical issues with the character choices or story beats. Examples: - The bully at school attacked the daughter TWICE in front of many students. Nothing happens. The bully gets hit once in the bathroom and suddenly they are talking expulsion or pressing charges. What?? - The giant caterpillar (dumb) but also, if it got her foot, she would have been a goner. I do not believe it would not devour her immediately. - Why do infected people lose their sight and hearing but not their sense of smell? Why would they decay everywhere but in their noses? - The Umbrella break in scene - why would no one be in the building of a super top secret biochemical facility, esp after alarms go off? - When the dog gets to them under the table? It would have just bit Jade. - Why is there just one zombie dog on like the main floor of the building?? - The story when the girls are young is so slow, and they have no chemistry as sisters whatsoever. Being a jerk is not a personality trait, and being a vegan is not a personality trait. - Umbrella coming to the future camp where Jade is and just starts shooting people BEFORE they get Jade so she has a chance to get away, albeit in a stupid manner
- Leaping off a 5+ story wall into zombies and not expect to injure something that will slow you down...

All of this is immersion breaking. If you are going to try to portray very serious characters and themes, there needs to be a logic and flow to the story. If it was just run-gun-dumb entertainment, sure! Schlock it up. But that's not what they are trying to do - they are trying to be smart and it did not work.… Expand

I suffered through all episodes to properly finish the series. It's just sad how terrible it is. Top Umbrella security network getting hacked in 10s by a remote kid with a laptop. This series only thing in common with the source material has the Names of the characters, the company name Umbrella, T-virus name, Racoon City mentioned, and that's it.
It's not for the fans, it's not for the new viewers. It's just terribly written, poorly executed show that you wish would just end.
I think it's one of the rare few series after end-season cliffhangers, I really do not care about the further story. I hate cliffhangers - I wanna closure. In this show? I don't care - that's how little I care bout characters I've spent almost 8 hours watching.
So do yourself a favour - go watch something else. This is not worth your time. Just watch some compilations of the best action scenes on YouTube - it'll take 5 minutes, and then you can move on.… Expand

Horrible...please, avoid it. Believe or not, milla jovovich movie are 10000% better than this.
