So boring. No rythm, screwed background story. The action never truly begins. The show really is about Dion's mother complaining and crying about every freaking thing. Dion's godfather is supposed to bé the funny one... Guess what ? He's not.

It's simply Batwoman level of pathetic. The worst part is that it seems to be the norm these days, to the point where shows from before the 90s seem to have so much nuance and subtlety in contrast. no. we are not. then the answer is clearly visible. after the fog is disappeared, the inclusion of other categories of people is a mere, vile act, an hate crime reverse. an imposition. the complete opposite of a property built tv product with the only objective of entertainment. this acts are actually real tv garbage.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I started out liking it and it just deteriorated. The ending of course painted the Caucasian guy as the villain but it wouldn't even give us the courtesy of writing it well. The acting was subpar. The undertones of racism were leaking through the show in the 3rd and last episode. I was disappointed. Such a good idea ruined by the need to racially divide the audience. Expand

The way she raised Dion would more likely make him a villain. Well raised 8 yr old kids don't act up and ignore their parents that much. Also, letting him run off on his own at a dangerous lake, not disciplining him when he completely ignores her, giving in to his temper tantrums...and that is all before the powers show. Once they appear she ignores advice from others and tries to seclude him and get him to force everything into a metaphoric bottle where he would never learn control.

The story idea is fantastic and Dion could have been built a log better...if she was even a decent parent.

It follows every superhero cliche you can think of (the dead parent, the superhero is lonely and bullied, lip service to the idea of saving people, etc.) and doesn't bother to do anything fresh with them.

Dion's mom, the protagonist of the show, is not a terribly compelling character, since she doesn't do much to move the plot forward. And all her problems are the result of her own negligence, so it's difficult to root for her. Dion himself is kind of a cipher and doesn't have a lot going besides the superpower business. There's also this creepy/annoying nerd who's like a discount Patton Oswalt and doesn't seem to have any inner life aside from his relationship to Dion and his mom.

And if you're watching for Michael B. Jordan, don't bother. He's barely in it and his presence is just stunt casting.

At first I thought this would be a good series for younger kids maybe as young as 7, unfortunately it turns political so I wouldn’t recommend it unless they were at least 13. It’s very unfortunate because the story did not need the political stuff to be interesting. I watched the 1st season but that’s it for me I can do without more indoctrination from the left. Expand

I loved this show. I binge watched all episodes yesterday and I was sad when it ended. It was a little cliche and had a few too many stereotypes of specific white people (from the blatantly racist teacher to the clingy creepy nerd). I likedI loved this show. I didn't expect from a superhero-ish series for kids to discuss and explain complicated and important real problems like racism in a very mild and understandable way that my child can get it for the first time.
Another example which I liked a lot was in season 1 episode 6 where two characters are in a bar and order two beers. Just look at how this ordering scene happens. The guy who serves the beers is very nice and friendly similar to all other salesman which children are familiar with. This is how a TV show can make it appropriate for kids without any need to remove a scene or fall into common stereotypes. I can imagine how that scene would be shown in an adult movie with all those known stereotypes of a bar environment.
These thoughtful tiny scenes made this show one of my favorite ones for my kid.

We are 7 episodes in and are disappointed. For a series about a kid with super abilities there is way too much focus on the his neurotic, rude mother and her stroppiness over her drama-filled life. We keep persisting because the kid is so delightful and Pat his geek godfather/mentor is cool. Who cares about the politics of the dance studio and his mother's romantic life? Focus on the kid and his emerging powers - it's what the series is surely (supposed to be) focused on. Expand

Too bad this one had such poor writing, acting, and a "woke" agenda around things like climate change and racism. The cliche fat white male racist teacher, for example. The mom programming- telling- Dion what she did about his skin color is in my opinion, a tragic infection he didn't deserve and especially the kids watching! Also, Dion's character is annoying. I don't hang out with kids that young but nowadays I see that lack of attention span in people who call themselves "adults". Expand

But as we neared the end of season one, it took a turn for the worst. It's like children took over and were writing ridiculous situations and reactions. Took it so far from even fantastical possibilities which were no where near feasible that it actually made me angry that I was watching it. The poor dialogue either made the acting look poor or vice a versa. Either way unless you are a simpleton that never questions things in life, you will not enjoy this series. Only watch if you exhausted every other option and you have no expectation that you will get any enjoyment from watching this.watching this. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The first episode wasn't half bad infected it got me hooked on the series until about the second episode, first thing I wanna talk about is the main character. The main character Nicole is an absolute **** at some moments in the show and is birarly angry to just about anyone who tried to help like pat and the aunt and not to mention the extremely lazy writing. Another thing I noticed is how by the second episode almost every character becomes boiled down to their most basic characteristics like how dion just becomes a realy dumb and emotional kid, how the mom becomes a a rude and sad lazily writen main character, how pat stays the same and how how the bully kid becomes a stereotypical bully . And another thing that bugged me is the lazily shoehorned in message about racism that had no reason to be in the show and didn't matter the rest of the show. I would also like to mention the "my powers came from [insert natural occurance here]" trope . I would only recommend this show to people who can ignore big issues with a show Expand
