TV Review: "Queen Cleopatra" - A Captivating Docu-Series

"Queen Cleopatra" is a mesmerizing docu-series that brings the legendary Egyptian queen to life with a remarkable performance by Adele James in the titular role. With a stunning portrayal and a deep connection with the character, James captivates audiences from the very first scene, making Cleopatra's story relatable and engaging.

One of the strongest aspects of the series is the attention to historical accuracy, supported by the presence of established and well-known scholars such as Dr. Sally Ann Ashton. Their expertise adds credibility to the narrative, ensuring that viewers are presented with a comprehensive and insightful exploration of Cleopatra's life and reign. Dr. Ashton's contributions provide a valuable context and deepen our understanding of the historical events depicted.

The production values of "Queen Cleopatra" are top-notch, reflecting a high level of professionalism. The show effortlessly transports viewers to ancient Egypt with its detailed set designs, elaborate costumes, and immersive cinematography. The visual appeal of the series is complemented by a richly orchestrated soundtrack that enhances the drama and heightens the emotional impact of the story.

However, one minor drawback of "Queen Cleopatra" is the brevity of its episodes. While the concise format keeps the pacing brisk and ensures that each episode delivers its key points effectively, it also leaves viewers yearning for more. With such a fascinating subject matter and an exceptional cast, longer episodes could have allowed for a deeper exploration of Cleopatra's complex character and the political intrigue of her time.

In conclusion, "Queen Cleopatra" earns high praise for its enthralling portrayal of the iconic queen, Adele James' captivating performance, and the inclusion of renowned scholars like Dr. Sally Ann Ashton. The production values are exceptional, showcasing the dedication and skill of the creative team. Although the short episode length is a minor drawback, it does little to diminish the overall enjoyment and appreciation of this remarkable docu-series. With its compelling drama and impressive production, "Queen Cleopatra" scores an impressive 8 out of 10.

Even if they want to say anyone can play the role of any historical figure, it still only built indirection of skin color and grandma talks, which drops the meaning of the Documentary.
Documentaries always have been built on research studies and investigations; I can not find any of that in this show. The conclusion, after watching, I find no respect for Egyptian history and no respect for other African nations because they also have historical figures. I believe it's good for every country to represent the history of its civilization based on science because science helps us as humans to be fair, not judgy not biased

Right now you can Google “Black African Queens” and get an amazing number of results. Why, then, to culturally appropriate a Egyptian ruler of Greek/Macedonian descent? Apparently, no one at Netflix knows what a search engine is.

It gets worse. Somehow, this “documentary” has nothing to do with the real Cleopatra - one of the most well known figures in history. You can’t watch it and say “OK, the skin color is wrong but her life was cool”, because almost nothing shown is about the real Cleopatra. “The Pyramids were built by aliens” is more credible than this farce because… well, who knows?… But here we know, and from multiple sources from her age. The result is an astounding mess. And I have still to mention the irritating, patronising tone both in the “documentary” and in the discourse surrounding it. When you offend whole nations you should pause and think, not go on a stage with a megaphone “explaining” to the plebes. Graham Hancock, at least, was fun to watch. You know? Watch Graham instead: maybe it is fiction too, but at least that’s fun fiction.

The heart breaks with resentment for such a diverse, colorful and interesting continent as Africa, whose cultural heritage, most likely, will never spread beyond its borders because of such ... ambassadors as Mrs. Smith. Egypt was also badly **** up: in the "documentary" series about THEIR country, THEIR queen and THEIR history, they simply took it and distorted it.

Most people are as lazy as possible, they will not look for additional information. Therefore, of course, you need to keep track of such projects and not give them a big distribution.

So sick of the fact that when the studio crap, it ALWAYS starts accusing others of racism.

It's just disgusting. They are **** racists. And instead of denying this fact, denying that they specifically crap, they should start learning to accept constructive criticism.

The agenda is killing cinema. Let them make more such projects, the faster the studios will be bent and, perhaps, they will be replaced by more worthy ones.

History before:
evidence in the form of ancient letters, excavations, radioisotope analysis
History now:
-Cleopatra is black because my grandmother told me so and therefore we will stir up a whole documentary based on this.

Afrocentrism practices racism, cultural appropriation, forgery, and theft of history.

It's time we lump afrocentrists in the same category as other loud, aggressive, and racially driven hate groups.

This show is straight up racist, and everyone.. yes EVERYONE involved should be before international courts for participating in this crime.

Having a masters degree in history, with a focus on ancient civilizations, I often find myself watching shows like this to see how the writers/producers present history accurately. Or, as in this case, how they fail to do so. This show is slow, unenthusiastic and extremely historically inaccurate. It comes across as revisionist history, full of "it could have been" and "well, maybe if we imagine it like this" stuff that does nothing more than damage history and confuse a current generation that is already struggling with history. Especially given that one of the "experts" thinks this is accurate because their senile grandmother said something to her when she was a child (and she probably doesn't accurately remember what was said either, but decided to think this was it). This show wants to destroy recorded history, so they can rewrite it for a "modern" (historically ignorant) society. When I found out the country of Egypt is suing the creator and Netflix due to its historical inaccuracies and revisionist "documentary" settings, I was surprised, but pleasantly so. I wish more countries would stand up for actual history, and stop letting random people try and rewrite/destroy their historical significance just so they can show it off to their elitist friends and feel good about themselves. This is more of a mock-U-mentary then an actual documentary. It's more of a fairy tale then anything. There were so many great black queens throughout history that could have been used and those stories should be told.

The series gets the gold medal of failure. A "documentary" blackwashing a real, historical person with dark fantasies issued from the 1st word. Primary school acting, got bored within 20 minutes by an extremely mediocre main actor.
