It's wrong on ALL educational/academic levels and they have people straight up LIE in this ''DOCUMENTARY".     I’m not sure why we are okay with erasing history of certain groups. I often ask myself in politics, “If the roles were reversed and this happened, how would I feel?” I can confidently say that the outrage would be deafening in this case had the roles been reversed.

    The lack of character, and professionalism from EVERY single cast member of this show, makes one WORST shows ever filmed, the plot is bland, tasteless, the story is linear without any sense of progression, it lacks everything, and remarks in absolutely nothing, I wish I could have my time back, it was a waste of time and a waste of money.

    It's not a historical docudrama, it's an anachronistic 21st century soap opera with a few paid academic talking heads to give it a thin veneer of respectability. What little information we get about Cleopatra has more to do with truthiness and feelings than anything resembling historical fact.

Instead of any historical accuracy they made an interpretation of an actual documented historical figure to satisfy some directors woke fantasy . Bad writing,even worst acting. Boring and badly directed and produced tripe.I almost never write reviews. This one forced me to. I want my time back i wasted watching this. I noticed a trend in Netflix of race/gender swapping historical characters in the name of diversity and inclusivity which is misleading and fallacious when a show is meant to be a documentary.     When it comes to taking history out of context to this extent, maybe Jada Pinket Smith and her followers should learn something: if they really cared about Africa and African history, and they bothered to visit any African country at any point in their lives, they would maybe then realize that Africa is 50% white/tan 50% black. What is this automatic assumption that people have? They are disrepecting an entire continent. This is absurd.

    At least do like Bridgerton and don't pretend this is "historically accurate". Just say this is a made up story and move on. Don't claim you are representing history with "accuracy". This truly is an affront to any Egyptian, both living and dead.    … Expand

    The best thing I can say about this documentary is that other similar ancient history Netflix documentaries also suck. This show is an American colonization of Egyptian history.

    How utterly embarrassing for Netflix. This show comes across as a poorly written and acted soap opera. It's not even historically accurate. STOP BLACKWASHING CHARACTERS! Queen Cleopatra was not black, and was likely Greek, if not Egyptian.

    Obviously it can’t be serious historians (although it has serious historians in it) because they don’t need key moments acted out by thespians hamming it up like an episode of Tracy Beaker. Then again it has too many clever talking heads to please those who like history served up like Carry On Cleo.

    Though we liked the experts that were interviewed for Queen Cleopatra, as well as Adele James’ performance as the famous queen, the dramatic sequences leave too much to be desired to keep us from just reading about Cleopatra online to get the information we want.

    Despite having to vacillate between descriptions of her subject as a politician, a seductress and a warrior, James manages to excel in each. She brings intelligence and nuance to a performance that is strikingly better than what surrounds her.
