It's based on guitarist Steve Jones' memoir "Lonely Boy: Tales from a Sex Pistol" and examines the rise and fall of the notorious punk band in 70s London. The creation of the group was spawned by the raucous political climate of the period and the undeniably disruptive influence of Malcolm McLaren, who shaped their image. The performances are gritty, raw and wonderful, esp. Thomas Brodie-Sangster as the eccentric manager and Anson Boon as Johnny Rotten. Thanks to Boyle, there's an energy that fills each episode with personality clashes and riotous recreations of their songs. Boyle's hyperactive, grungy style creates beautiful dreamlike imagery in saturated colors. The excitement of the period and the band infuses every episode with unruly, unabashed punk pleasure. The series is atmospheric and emotional. The characters are well developed, just like the spirit of the time. Thank you.

This is an absolutely masterpiece. I'm comfused by the people who gave low ratings, maybe they lack the knowledge and understanding about subcultures. Danny Boyle know this, and he did a great job on this mini series with admirable art style.

You can see the amount of work that went into every perfect detail of every perfect scene. You can feel every moment as if you are right there, you can feel the passion, the trauma, the entire emotional tailspin that the band was constantly in. This is truly an incredible show and I hope that everyone sees it. Expand

This was really well done, and is easily translated as an education for those who seek culture shock of the birth of one of the most inspirational punk rock bands of all time. This is filled with phenomenal portrayals, however I did become somewhat annoyed at times with the rendition of Malcolm McLaren played by Thomas Brodie-Sangster. My only criticism is it would have been nice to get more perspective from Johnny Rotten's eyes Expand
