I honestly preferred Sissy Spacek and Beverly D'Angelo as Loretta and Patsy. I felt like I was watching the same roughly 15-20 from Coal Miner's Daughter - a wonderful film I wholeheartedly recommend even as someone who does not care for country music - with some additional scenes tacked on and some slight expansion. I have seen Coal Miner's Daughter numerous times and enjoy it each and every time and that has always surprised me not really liking country music or anything that twangs. Sissy earned her Oscar and Beverly was robbed of even a nomination for a performance that kicks Megan Hilty's behind. The performances in this film were not bad and the singing was alright, but I was not wowed by it the way I was with Coal Miner's Daughter. It looks and feels like a Lifetime television movie, so I guess it was on target. The production values are very bottle feeling. Worth a watch if you loved these women, just don't expect too much.…Full Review »
