Story: The story of Paranoia Agent follows little slugger, the victims that he assaults with his golden roller blades and bat, and the detectives trying to track him down. Seriously, that's what it's about. If FLCL or Evangelion was difficult for you to follow, then Paranoia Agent is going to be a nightmare, but one you should still watch. To put it into perspective I'd say this, ifStory: The story of Paranoia Agent follows little slugger, the victims that he assaults with his golden roller blades and bat, and the detectives trying to track him down. To put it into perspective I'd say this, if someone asked me what Paranoia Agent is about, I'd reply, "What isn't it about?". Characters: As stated before, they're are several different characters the story follows. The main ones are Sukiko, creator of the hot selling cartoon figure, Maromi, the chief detective in charge of finding little slugger, and little slugger himself. There's also the popular guy, the tutor/ prostitute, the old man, the "down on his luck" father, the resentful daughter, the stressed out coworker, and many more. I can't stress the importance of each individual character. There are no unimportant characters in this series thanks to the way the story is told. Each character has their own episode, of which they're are thirteen in total. Animation: Some of the best I've seen. The people look like, well... People. Not some emo douche, you know the ones that are so popular now a days? Personal bias aside, the animation is really good. Music: The only way I can describe the music is eerily fitting and almost haunting, with the stories dark themes it creates something beautiful and twisted. Voice Acting: All around it's pretty top notch, up there with Ghost in the Shell. Fan Service:
Really, the only fan service I could point out to you is the prostitute episode, and maybe one or two other instances, but you'll probably be too involved in the story to care. Overall: Paranoia Agent is a truly outstanding show, I can't stress that enough, but it's not for everyone. It's dark themes might turn some people off, and it can be confusing if you don't pay very close attention. On top of that, this show is not a good starting anime. That being said, this anime is probably the best thing to happen to medium since Ghost in the Shell. If you're looking for a deep, dark, and interesting story, there is none better then Paranoia Agent.
